So, anyone seen Mel Gibson's latest film Apocalypto?
I saw it last weekend after I saw a making off video on my television and I have to say that I liked this movie. The story itself was alright, nothing out of the ordinary, but the action looked nice and the gore part surely did a nice thing. The film was quite detailed and wasn't censored like many Hollywood films are.

It had quite a lot of those scenes, one for example having a panther biting in someone's face and having his friends kill the panther by hitting it with spears and such. It was very visual and I hadn't expected that, cause they didn't showed that one tv, though it was a nice surprise.

Just not really a film to go to with your girlfriend, unless she likes blood and skin ripping. Little did I know and I took mine, luckily she liked the film, par the messy parts.

So, imo this is a good film to watch, if you like action that is more realistic and visual. If you go for the story, then you might want to skip this one, cause it is not the best story I have seen, but the action kept me very entertained.
The Evil Dead
I really can't handle Mel Gibson ever since that Passion of the Christ garbage that was on everyones minds a couple years back.

This film looked like it may be good for a laugh, so I may bother to check it out when it hits DVD or Cable but honestly I can't bring myself to pay money for this. I'd rather spend my money on #### horror movies and the like before coughing up money to line Mel's pocket even moreso than it is now.

I've heard the action in the film is very solid as well as the gore, but that there's a lot of naked tribal dudes running around throughout the thing. I don't know how many rampant penis's I can handle in one film after seeing Jackass 2 so that's another thing holding me back from checking it out in the theater.

Hmm, I haven't seen a single penis though, not that I was looking for it. You do see topless native women, if that scares you. It is just the action that kept me on my seat, cause that was a very good thing to watch.

I don't really want to spoil anything, (not that there is really much to spoil anyway) so I'll make this short. The movie was okay, I only paid 6 dollars to get in because of the certain time I went to see it. Yeah, there was a lot of gore, which didn't really bother me. There were a few scenes when I thought the story would go a certain way, but instead went a whole different direction.

The Evil Dead pretty much knows what he is talking about when he says that it is like Passion Of The Christ, without Jesus.

I liked the movie. When the Passion came out i didnt watch it straight away but when i did i found it to be a decent movie. What was stupid is how people reacted to it and how Gibson got ridiculously cocky and offensive but as I dont hold that against anybody who makes movies i enjoy it didnt bother me.

So I found Apocalypto to be pretty entertaining and it dealt with an interesting story and you could feel the characters. I did find funny the names they used for the dudes since they took the whole animal/nature stuff from north american natives rather than the actual phonetics the mayans and aztecs used.

I liked how the duality of men was portrayed. On one hand the bad guys were not completely bad in their perspective. Rather than a complete ominous showcase, the bad dudes also showed to be good to their own.

I saw this today. It was a little different then I thought it would be. I mean, with the title, and Mr. Gibson saying: "It's about a new beginning. Unfortuntly for something to have a new beginning, something has to end", I thought it might have a little more to do with Cortes....which it didn't....not really anyway. Apocalypto II maybe? Lol.

That aside, it very good. Pretty funny too, like the big guy eating the tapir's balls, or when one of the 'evil' guys got bitten by the snake, and one of the others just saying "He's ######" and walked off.

Don't think I'll bother getting the DVD though.

I really hadn't heard of this film, nor that Mel Gibson was now focusing on directing films, so I had no idea what to expect when I went to see this. But overall, I liked it.
The action scenes were well done, and it was quite sentimental in places, in my opinion. There were parts which were quite gory, for example the attacking panther part - which I am afraid to say I did have to shield my eyes xD - but I still liked it because the gore wasn't overdone.

I think Mel Gibson did a good job with this movie, I really enjoyed watching it =).
