The Evil Dead
I'm sure there's very few around these forums who has ever bothered to watch Magnum PI... But I basically grew up with it living with my Tom Selleck obsessed mother and ever since my younger days I can still be caught watching the show on cable occasionally.

So you better believe when I recently heard that freakin' Matthew McConaughey was going being rumored as playing Selleck's character in a Magnum PI movie I was pretty bitter.

After the blunder that was Sahara it was proven that McConaughey had no place in an action film. Not only were his acting skills absent like they always are, but he acted far more like the stoner that he is than a treasure hunter or all around badass like he was supposed to be in the movie. It ended up being a total joke, and it was because of the lead actor moreso than the poor storyline.

I'm worried that McConaughey is going to ##### up the roll, it'll be like Miami Vice or something... A horrible adaptation that should have never surfaced.

On a positive note, Steve Zahn ( Who was also at McConaughey's side for Sahara ) is rumored to be in the film.

It's just a rumor at this point and may very well stay that way... Because the actors slated to play the film are nearly identical to those placed in Sahara ( William H Macy as Higgins? wtf ) but Dark Horizons is a farily legitimate source of news and it's also backed by a few other sites.

The long rumored "Magnum P.I." movie adaptation is back in the gossip talk again after seemingly dying on the vine last year.

Teletext UK reports that "Dodgeball" director Rawson Marshall Thurber has finished his redraft of the script and in a surprise move has selected much of the cast already.

The report lists that Matthew McConaughey will play Magnum, Steve Zahn will be his friend Rick, Tyrese Gibson the chopper flying T.C., and William H. Macy as British landlord Higgins.

This is strange as all but Tyrese played somewhat similar roles in 2005's film adaptation of the Clive Cussler adventure novel "Sahara" - a good fun action film which sadly bombed at the box-office.

Also strange - a Magnum without chest hair, blasphemy!! - but at least anyone who has picked up a tabloid mag in the past twelve months has an idea of what McConaughey would look like dressed only in facial hair and running shorts.

The plan is to stick with the idea of Magnum and his friends being war veterans - though Iraq war rather than Vietnam.

I'm with you TED, the notion of McConaughey playing Magnum hurts my head. Forget that, McConaughey in anything hurts my head.

What next? An A-Team remake? The Sentinel? Is nothing sacred? *rant rant*

They can ##### try... but I'll rip their ##### #####sucking throats out with a ##### pickaxe...

A-Team is sacred... and just plain amazing. It can't be done... No one could do what Mr T did in that series, or the guy who played Murdock can't be replaced... in fact none of them can...

Whoa, angry Flame?

I got $10 says we'll see an A-Team remake in...say....3 years. Starring Bernie Mack.

I used to think that when I was a kid, I watched the show recently. My mouth dropped to the floor, I couldn't believe it was literally that bad.

Magnum PI is not an action roll, It should be more detective work than action.

Doesn't me Matty is a good choice though.

Why not let Tom Selleck play Magnum? Like Monty said, it's more detective than action.
Heck, we even have a 60 year old Stallone playing Rocky, which actually is a very physically challenging part to play, for an old man at least.

Even if we left age out of the picture, and even if Tom was up for it I don't think there'd be a huge draw to see a movie starring Tom Selleck in theaters. His career has died out and a movie studio is going to want to go with a more recognized name like McConaughey as opposed to old news like Selleck.

Hopefully this isn't a confirmed cast, or maybe they'll leave PI alone in the end. I don't believe anything for the movie is confirmed at this point and time so maybe we'll see some changes.
