So, I am playing Wild Arms 3 at the moment and so far it is a nice story. Nothing extraordinary or anything like that, but good so far.
My question is, which of the games in the franchise is considered to be the favourite of most?

I currently have WA 3 and WA 4 in my possession and after I finish WA 3, I plan on playing WA 4 (after I finish Koudelka though).
So far I haven't seen any other WA releases over here. I read somewhere that the first Wild Arms was for the PSX, I might find it somewhere and that the second one was never released in Europe.

I also haven't seen any Alter Code F in Europe, will that game get a European release, or is it again US and Jap only?
Rozalin
I only beated WA3/4 played WA1 years ago, can't remember much though. But most people say WA1 is the best of all, Alter Code F sucks compared to it even if it's a remake.

Well the second one was released in europe, my bro still got WA1-4 original, so I wouldn't say it wasn't released in Europe.
Since it's pretty old it wouldn't be buyable in normal shops. I'd recommend using (trustable) online buying sites to get it if you want.
By the way, I don't know anything about Wild Arms Alter Code: F.

Now, this is just confusing me. Care to elaborate? If you are really from Holland, then you can use dutch aswell, for all that I care.

Wild ARMS 2 is my favorite. good story, great characters, plenty of hidden bosses.

the original Wild ARMs is a damned classic. Alter Code F is good, though they changed alot of the original.

WA4 is my least favorite. it's too short, i didn't much like the characters- save Raquel, it's just too different.

Rozalin, you know nothing about Alter Code: F, but you're going critique as if you did play it?

I've played every game of the series. I beat all, but two, Alter Code: F and 1. I never bother with 1 since it froze on me all the time. I never bother with Alter Code: F since my PS2 was broken a lot while I played that one and never got around to finishing it.

Anyway, 1 a pretty good game, but I never became a fan of the chibi model used during battle. It's likely the hardest of the series though. Though, if you got it, I suggest you play the game on PS1. I forgot the exact reason, but it's freeze occassionally while played on the PS2. You can play it on the PS2, but you'll become very annoyed when the game freeze on you that often.

Most people go for 2 or the original. These are viewed to be the best of the series. Two got the my favorite plot. It's a good challenge to boot. I highly suggest you play 2. It's very entertaining game.

Alter Code: F just suck the challenge out from 1. It's a decent remake since it was meant to be a remake, not a exact copy of the original. All the characters get revamped for today's look. It's a fun game though. If you can get it for cheap, then try to pick it up.

4 got a new battle system. It's flawed at times, but I found it to be quite good, if they fix the flaws for 5. The plot was overemphasize with the battle between adults and children. You can't count the times the main character and everyone else said adult. A lot of good characters, but poor character background coverage.

To my knowledge, WA 2 and AC:F don't have a set release. It's still baffling why they released 1 there, but not 2, then they released 3.

The last two posts were quite helpful.
So 1 and 2 are considered the favourites out of the franchise. I might look around to see if I can find a used game, or ask my local gamesstore if they can order it. Cause they have "connections" and such.

I will finish WA3 and 4 first, cause I don't see myself getting 1 and 2 anytime soon.

The only games in the series I've really played so far are 2 and 3, and I only completed 2 (though I'm right at the end of 3... just too lazy to beat it, or something). Although I don't have much to compare those two to, I do have to agree that Wild Arms 2 was an extremely entertaining game. It's got many of the usual aspects from the series, such as the ARMs setup, starting the game from multiple perspectives (like in 3), the Mediums, the Tools, et cetera. I found the characters to be pretty interesting (though I can't recall much, since it's been a long time since I played). I remember really liking characters like Brad and Kanon. The battles generally aren't too hard, but at least a decent challenge. Plenty of sidequests to go on, many of which are quite rewarding, too. The game, overall, plays very similarly to other Wild Arms games, but with its own quirks here and there, and with its own characters and plot.

From what I've noticed in the past, a lot of people do seem to favor WA2, with some favoring the first game mixed into the bunch. I had a blast with WA3, but from what I can remember, WA2 deserved a bit of a higher rating, in my opinion. The combination of the characters and the storyline just meld together with the battles to make a solid RPG.

Have tried all 4 series and Alter code F. But I couldn't finish Alter Code F, due to the game freezes at the certain point of the story. So I haven't played much of it since then.
1 and 2 are still my favorite, especially 2. Although 2 got a flaw on its PS skill allocation, but other positive factors really made it up.

Since you're asking the best.

1 was hella magnificient, I fell in love the first time I hear its BGMs. And the story was pretty good for old school, Rudy's past, Jack, Cecilia, Golems, everything, but the graphic isn't something people would call a "standard" anymore these days. So if you can bear it, then go for WA 1.
Now for WA2, even better, this is my all time favorite for its series. I usually lost my interest of playing a game after I get through 99% of the story, but this game, I don't know what about it that keep pushing me to play this game, and even after I finished it, I was still wondering if that is really the ending. lol This game is too great to be missed. And don't forget about the villains, Odessa, Vinsfeld and Knight Blazer. Must have, must play.

Played all of them, 2 being the best. But all of them were good games and i'm looking foward to 5.

He said " But most people say WA1 is the best of all, Alter Code F sucks compared to it even if it's a remake."
I think he means that people say it sucks in comparison.

Anyway, I played WA 1 and 3, and WA 1 is definitely my favorite. But I still liked WA 3 a lot, everything except the final part of the game, where it went downhill very fast. You who played it should know, Siegfried, Beatrice, etc.

I beated all the games from WA1 to WA4, except Alter Code F since the game frozen in certain point. I really love all the games. Always have something different: WA1 was a hit, WA2 has secret dongeons and characters, WA3 has Ex file key and new options like new game +; and WA4 has the hex system which is new and strange at certain point, but the inovations were the combination tecniques. I didnt finish ALTER CODE F but i want to do it, and at point to the game frozen, i like the game: i "good" remake but no "excellent", because the bad point to me was give only one force ability to every caracter: Rudy has Lock-On, Jack has Accelerator and Cecilia has Material, when in the original version they have three FA for each one, that and the glitches are the bad points for me, the rest is fine, i think.
Dies Irae
Wild Arms is actually good. I've beaten and played from WA1- WA4. I'll just say this. WA1 is good. Don't get me wrong but I'm partial to WA2. Maybe it's the fact I've beaten it more than WA1. laugh.gif Actually. Alter Code F wasn't bad. I admit they did change from the original. It's better than having a character with a huge head and a small body.

I think you can find a sealed WA1 for $50. Original is around 20 - 25.

Damn it all! I want that Wild ARMs 3! I played every single one except that one. I liked all of them except that 4th one. I mean 4 main characters and some boses with bad story with no twists and turnes. And no suporting characters? I mean they blow that game in my opinion. The left out tools and everything else. The only good thing is that battle system. My point is that they can't change the series! It would be as same as if they change Suikoden! It wouldn't be Suikoden anymore...

I listened to music from WA3 and it has the best one in my humble opinion.
