I don't know about you guys but whenever I check out a skit the speed of the text seems quite random to me. Sometimes they are ridicously fast you don't get to finish it in time and other times they stay on screen too long. Just in case, there isn't a way to set it is there? All the tales games I've play are like that and not way of changing it to my knowledge.

I think it varies from game to game, Isn't the text speed controlled by the text speed option? But then again I think the skit text in TotA stay too long on the screen.

Not quite sure. I never had a problem with it being to fast, but too slow in Abyss and Symphonia. Since I have no clue what the hell they're saying Destiny, Destiny 2 and Rebirth skit, I don't know if they're too fast or not. Though, they have audio while Symphonia didn't and, for a certain reason, the translated version of Abyss didn't either.

The skit text of Destiny 2, Rebirth and Abyss all follow the conversations nicely, kinda like subtitles. We never really have a problem with them. I don't know about the English versions of the games. ^^;

I've never had a problem with them going too fast. If anything, they go too slow for me. But, no, I don't know if there's anything you can change so they go the speed you would prefer.

The skit speed was fine for ToS and ToE for me no problem - but there has definitely been a few points in TotA that i've struggled to keep up and others where it really seems to drag - yeah it follows the flow of the actually conversation nicely but still i'd like to be able to read it all.
Have also fell foul to the problem with bright objects obscuring the text a few times already in TotA - really gonna have to pay more attention to when i activate them - but i've missed a couple because i wasn't quick enough to watch in between events so i've developed a bit of a reflex of activating them the instant they come on screen.
It'd be great if they'd all been voiced over here too - some of the funniest parts in the games come from the Skits - does anyone know why they didn't bother?

I never really had a problem with the speed of the text in the skits, though I will say at times they were a bit on the slow side, but it was never that big of an issue, but I dont think the text speed option works for that, I think it just works for character text outside of the skits. As far as putting voice to the skits, it would have been nice because a lot of the skits were pretty funny, even though some were pretty pointless

Yes, that happened to me a lot too...I’d accidentally activate one when it was in the brightest area, or even over a save point...Then I’d have to squint my eyes really hard to see what they were saying.
As for voice overs...maybe they didn’t because, in fact, there were almost as many skits as actual events? Maybe it would’ve just taken to long. I wouldn’t mind having them actually speaking, but I don’t mind that it’s just text either. *shrugs*

I never got the skits in a spot where it made it hard to read, mabye I just got lucky and always started them in good spots, who knows.
it would be interesting to find out how many skits they had total and about how much time all together those skits took up..

On the topic of skits, which game do you guys think had the best ones? Personally I liked Tales of Symphonia's best, then Abyss. Silly old Sheena and Zelos :P

The skits in Tales of the Abyss were usually normal paced to me, and a few times it was too slow. But I did encounter times where it went by way too fast. Not the entire skit itself, but just one part of a skit. Probably because saying it in Japanese is much faster/shorter than in English. (The skits had voice acting in the Japanese version.)

Yeah I agree with Hiku, although generally I really enjoyed the skits. They really added a lot to the game. Some of them helped develop the story while the others were there strictly for extra character interaction. I kinda wish they were in Tales of Eternia, though.

Zelos and Sheena - now that was a classic pairing! Though if i remember rightly Raine had her moments in the ToS skits too. Only ~11hours into TotA and i'm liking the ones talking the piss out of Guy, the one with Anise and Jade ganging up on him in the port at Kaitzur - now that is cruel!.

Generally it's Anise's parts that are tripping me up bit, just have to get back into the habit of speed reading i suppose.

Because, Abyss doesn't include audio/voices along with the skits, I kinda read the text so fast that it felt like the scenes were too slow and it bothers me a little, sometimes it makes me dont want to view the skit when it's available. =(
But I believe it must be because of the translation wise. It's a forgiven problem.

I recall there's one where Anise found out about how Tear likes cute things and blackmailed a cake from the poor girl with it. Haha, that one is priceless. Then the ones where Luke is abusing the poor cheegle (what'sitsname), even after he changed for the better. It's much much better with voicing... too bad the English version don't have it. Makes me even happier to have bought the Jap version for my sister.

There was a couple of skits in Tales of Rebirth that was girl-talk, lol. Two of the female characters were chatting about perfume! Lol. And Tytree was talking about how he likes cooking and stuff. So cute. XD

Ah, yes, there were a few with Luke and Mieu (the Cheagel) that I liked. There was one where Luke had made a bet with Tear about something and whoever won the bet became Mieu’s master. Luke got all hyped up because he won but then he realized he still ‘owned’ Mieu. I always feel bad for Mieu, he got picked on a lot.

I'm about 35 hours in to TotA now and the skit speed has definitely dropped off, though there has been some classics and i'm actually enjoying them more than in ToS which has really surprised me.
Anyway i've been looking at my records for TotA and noticed that they record the total number of skits you've viewed (something i've not seen in a Tales game before - am upto ~210 out of ~490) and was just wondering how close anyone actually got to watch every last one of them?

Go into the main menu and down to the System menu - there should be a 'Records' section - there's two pages of random stats there including the number of the skits you've seen.

I have seen 354/489 skits in Tales of the Abyss. I've already beaten the game, took me about 40+ hrs. So, yeah, I missed a lot of skits...I'll definitely have to play that game again for those skits, along with just the story/characters itself.

Well according to
Temple of Undine all of the skits in Radient Mythology are gonna be voice acted, which is a real good news, though it makes me wonder once again why they couldn't have done it for ToS and TotA

Hey i forked out £280 when i bought my PSP - and that was originally just for Tales of Eternia, and i know this is gonna sound really SAD, but in my opinion it was worth it - so you can always get hold of ToE as well if you need to justify getting a PSP.

I find sometimes the skits can be too fast, but some can be incredibly slow. I never really read them because they're basically a summary of what just happened in the story (ToA mainly) and the only ones that are funny are the ones you have to earn. Such as cooking a 3 star meal and wearing the bathing suits during battle. Other then those ones I tend to skip them... but there are so many.
