Alright, time to contribute something here.
Are you getting tired of the same but improved Battle system the series have served us for ages ? Do you want a completely different BS for the next Tales title ? Or just want an improvement/more advanced system like their old titles had done ? What will it be ? Give me ideas.
Sorry, I'm trying my hardest. <.<

Get bored of Tales's battle system? No way, if it is done well, like in most of the Tales game. I got very irritated with Tales of Symphonia's but I enjoyed all of the other battle systems fine. ^^ Real-time and doesn't involve too much running around to find the targets... oh yeah.
Especially since I usually tag along to play the mage characters. The magic system is slightly different in Rebirth and Abyss, and equally fun to use. Especially Rebirth, where there is no such thing as lack of TP/MP for casting spells. XD Abyss's FoF too, lotsa fun.

Honestly, I hope they keep it the same. I rather enjoy the concept of the system and find it quite fun. It's especially nice to have a 'free-run' BS instead of the traditional turn based battle systems that almost every game has. So, yeah, I hope the system stays the same in each new game, or at least relatively resemblant.

The remake of Destiny doesn't use TP system either.
The Tales systems tend to make the games of the series fun as heck. It's the most appealing aspect for me at least. While the series does tend to have a very good storyline and cast. I prefer the battle system doesn't change from change here to here. It's got to active and it's got to allow you to free roam the field. Thank you for Free Run! I would like if AI became smarter and use the entire map to their advantage, too.

Basic formula should NOT CHANGE. The thing that keeps me playing the Tales series is the fast, active battle system. It makes leveling FUN!
If I could change anything, I would, as Eva said, make the monsters smarter. I would also like to see 3D free run if possible, but the only practical way I can think of to do that would be a rear-view 3rd-person shooter camera angle, and that has enough disadvantages in itself due to the inability to really keep track of your party most of the time and the damage that would do to the multiplayer-compatible battle system.

I'm not sure what you're refering to, LE daddy dear, but there is 3D free run in Tales of the Abyss. By holding down the L2 button after gaining the skill Free Run, the character you controlling will run the way you move the left analog stick. I make Jade run around the battlefield like a nutter out of asylum sometimes, lol.
The best best BEST part of Tales battle system (well, for most of the games) is that it supports multi-players. So far, not many RPG games have multi-player the way Tales does, and it's one aspect of the game that makes it a lot more fun.

I dont know what else is left there to add to the Tales battle system but I seriously am glad that they didn't use the zoning system in ToD2 for the other installments because it was the most stupid thing I ever encountered. You can't surround the enemy or else you lose half of your SP and TP! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!
I think to further improve the battle system, later installments should have funny AI like the ones in ToD2. I'm pretty sure that would make things a bit more interesting. ^^;;
