Is there anything else needed to be said about the topic? LOL So yeah like any favorite topics, just tell us who is your favorite main character and why. I'll post mine later. =)

My favorite main character would be Luke. I've only played Phantasia on GBA, Symphonia on GameCube, and Abyss on PS2, but out of those three games Luke was my favorite, over Lloyd and Cress. He had the most character developement done out of the three, in my opinion. He started out as a snotty brat, but later in the game he became more aware of the world around him and sincerely wanted to change, to be his own person.

Been waiting for this topic to show up and yet i'm still undecided.

If we're talking about the actual "hero character" so to speak i'd have to agree with DB and go with Luke, just for the sheer amount of character development, followed closely by Reid.
If we're talking about main characters, as in playable characters, i'd have to go with Jade/Anise/Tear/Sheena/Chad as joint top, if i had to pick an overall favourite...

... i'd have to go with Jade, just for his cruel, sarcastic sense of humour, between him and Anise i've had more LOL moments in this game than any other in a long time, definitely one of the more complex characters i've seen in a while too, plenty of unknown back story to keep you wondering what he's really about and all the while he's trying to cold and aloof, the others soon realise he's got a soft side and he's quite disturbed about the fact.

Saying that, now Anise... nah, i'm not that cruel i'll leave it with Jade.

I'm assuming it's the actual hero character, otherwise this thread already exists.

so it does, and i've actually replied to it. yet i can't for the life of me remember doing it - i'm bringing a whole new meaning to sieve head this week! - ah well ignore the bit of rambling on my last post and i'll go with Luke.

Luke for me. I really liked Lloyd too but its Luke in the end. I really enjoyed his character, sense of humor and how he and the rest of the party interacted.

That's pretty much what I wanted to say. Out of all the Tales games I've played (which isn't much more than Dragon Bride, just add Eternia into the mix), he definitely had the most character development and also was the only I saw who actually made a physical change to prove it.

One thing I did like was that he still held onto some of his selfish qualities even after, though they weren't as bad as before. xP

Veigue Lungberg of Tales of Rebirth. I just like the cool demeanor that Veigue got. Not to mention him wielding an element not wielded by a main character ever, which would be ice. I haven't got deep enough into the plot, but I'm a huge fan of Veigue. Too bad people most people won't even know who Veigue would be.

I know I know!! I know Veigue! *dances*

Hmm, yeah, he's pretty cool and I really like him and his impulsive human ways. I get a bit ticked off by the way he has a one track mind that will go as far as to disregard everything else when it comes to his girlfriend, but it's kind of endearing as well.

But I do prefer Luke over the others that I know of. His character development is the most I have seen of any RPG games. I have seen cool or lonely characters start warming up (very slowly), caring characters get even more caring and even putting down their hatred, but a selfish rude over-protected teenage with amnesia growing into somebody more caring and considerate? Very rare.

Plus he's a redhead with killer abs.

I have to stick with my classics and go with Cless from Tales of Phantasia. I hate his voice in the Gameboy Advance version, even though Chester is way more useful in it, I liked the cute Japanese voices for the characters. Personally Cless seems to be the one that knows whats going on and isn't clueless or blaming himself every minute about something he couldn't control. Yes, I'm talking about Luke. I find it really annoying that the entire story has to stop for him to complain, get corrected by Tear or Jade, then resume. Sorry to all of those who like Luke.

I've only played tales of symphonia.. so I guess instead of naming my favorite main character, I'll name my favorite character from this game.

My favorite character is Colette. She is just so nice, and selfless, and she's an angel how cool is that! lol
I use her as my avatar when I walk around in the game

My favorite Tales of Hero was the airheaded Stahn. Although, I really like Lloyd, too. I reeeally need to get Tales of the Abyss; he sounds like a cool character from what I'm hearing.

My favorite all around Tales of character is... Leon. Whiny brat, but I still love him!

Mine would have to be Lloyd. I just love how he is caring and aggressive. Almost reminds me of Zidane [FFIX]. Well I guess some could say the same for Luke aswell. There was also another but I cant remember his name. Wow....What is the main guy in ToL? It just slipped my mind. UGH!

Anyway I guess its time I start replying to one of my own topics and as for me my favorite Tales main character also happens to be Senel simply because his character was just way awesome in how he developed as the game progressed, not to mention when you get to know about his past in the later part of the MQ I couldn't help but sympathize with him.

I really need to play more Tales, haha I'm so out of the loop of the Tales series. All I have is ToD, and Stahn is goofy, but not as cool as he looks(does any1 kno what I mean by this)

I like Lloyd, from Tales of Symphonia. I love the way he uses two swords, even if he can be a bit of a doofus.

God that phrase n some others have actually made me laugh and I'm not too far into ToA(glad I finally got it). every now and then a RPG will make me laugh throughout those something odd hours, but ToA has already made me laugh a couple times.

I really like Luke, but I'm a big fan of Cless too.

From the intro I thought Luke was going to grow into a great character but I have to admit although he's ok, he is actually p!ssing me off to no end, i'm 70+ hours in so i'm getting pretty close the end, and his personality is really wearing thin on me at first he was like an obnoxious kid(like he was supposed to be) and now he's just whining constantly spolier There's only so long you can take self pity and i'm sick to death of listening/reading to Luke whinge about being a clone and how he doesn't deserve to live I just hope to god he gets a grip soon because there's only so much I can take.

So on topic its a tough call between Reid and Lloyd, but i'll have to go with Lloyd at this stage, because I just generally preferred his character to the other leads in the Tales series.

I'm glad someone finally realizes how annoying Luke is in Tales of Abyss. I wanted to rip his head off a couple of times.. especially near the end when my patience wore down to almost breaking point.

I honestly thought that everybody was annoyed by Luke. There were no words to describe that guy's harsh personality.
Senel was rather good. Don't know I just think he fit for the main role with his neat look and personality.

My favorite character would have to be Meredy from Tales of Eternia (or Tales of Destiny 2, and I think I spelt it right) That was the first Tales game I played and I played it with one of my friends (the whole time playing the game) I am a slight fan of the magic users and I didnt really have to worry much about me being on Screen. I liked her personality and how she attacked. Also, SHE IS SO CUTE.

My favorite main character is Luke. Most of the other main characters were way too bland or were not deeply enough involved with the conflict in the story. Lloyd, Senel, and Reid were just chasing around their love interests who were always the center of attention as far the plot goes. Reid was just tagging along helping a stranger. They weren't bad by any means, but I just felt the plot was more centered around Luke and his development, like it should be with a main character. While in Symphonia the game centers around Colette's role and Legendia was more centered around stupid Shirley. As for Lloyd and Senel, the game focused more on their determination to save the girls which directly links to saving the world. It was nice to have a lead that didn't spend almost the entire game following around a heroine. To put it simply, I guess, Luke was more interesting and because of his issues in the story I got way more attached to him then any of the other mains.

Besides, before Luke cuts his hair he was non-stop entertainment. Yeah, just from his hilarious attitude and actions from that section of the game, he automatically became my fav. I know I almost stand alone here, but I found long-haired Luke awesome. It's not in every RPG, that the main character starts off as that much of a whiny a-hole, and I love him for it. heh

Well Luke kinda reminds me of Squall so I can agree on that, simply because of the epic ending but in case anyone didn't know my favourite character is Tear Grants Shes a really good character and in Tales of the World her holy song spell is epic

I also kinda like Raine as well as she was funny being the smart professor and she has the best support music.

I would say Luke. I've only played TOTA and TOS, but Lloyd was fun because of his double swords (swordchucks anyone???) Luke was HILARIOUS especially when teased about his relationship with Tear (who BTW I wished he got together with by the end of the game...).

Well all the fanart supports it as well as Tear's (no pun intended) tear when he comes back in like super form =p

Lol, fanart doesn't say much. But maybe we'll see more of the Abyss story if they made a sequel some day like they are doing with Symphonia.

Its terms of proper TOTA games (i.e. not spinoff World) I would say I like Farah from Tales of Eternia because she is a kung-fu master with swallow dance and supersonic fist.

My favourite Character is Volt from Eternia. Its because Volt is cute =p

I'd have to agree with Sonic, here. Although I liked a lot of the main characters, Senel is really one of the only ones that "grew up", so to speak. He was developed quite well, and was pretty badass to boot. Plus, fists for a main character = awesome. (even if I did wind up switching to Chloe...all the damn time)

I haven't played much of Legendia but from first impressions I definitely think that Senel seems to be more my type of character, and not a whiny little b!tch like Luke. I didn't hate him but Luke p!ssed me off no end the only time he became quite likeable for me was too far toward the end. I actually preferred Tales Of Symphonia's Lloyd to Luke too.

I really don't know who to pick. From one side I have Senel to choose, who looks cool and is quite a developed character in any kinda way, even when it comes to romance. Other side would be Luke, even though he got on my nerves in the beginning. But you have to look the situation from his point. Locked in a mansion among other things made him what he is, and well, he came a long way from being a ignorant jerk to a caring and lovable jerk =)

But the other cast in Legendia wasn't all that great, in fact I hated quite a few of them while in the Abyss I fancy them all, except Anise maybe. Plus, there was Tear, an awesome female character, so in the end my vote goes to Luke.

Character Wise : Reid from Tales of Eternia, He is one of the most not motivated hero i ever seen xD I mean come on, his ambition is to hunt for food and live a simple life lol.

Looks Wise : Luke from Abyss =p He got the looks xD

lol, a friend and I were talking about this at work just the other day. We both agree that Yuri from TOV is our Fav's. He's bad@ss, sarcastic, rarely emo and looks cool as hell. Win!

I never was a big fan of the main characters of the Tales games, as a matter of fact, I find the characters usually annoying.
Lloyd and Collette being the worst I have ever seen.

Reid from Tales of Destiny II was one I did like though. Funniest for me remains Zelos. His one-liners and stupid comments were hilarious. Him hitting on Sheena and explaining he was "curious" when he peeked when Sheena had a shower is epic. Sometimes he ruined the mood a bit, but overall Zelos is one of the funniest characters I have ever seen.
