I remember replying to these more than once...but I don't think there's a topic like this on the first page or at least for quite some time...so here goes.
My first was Dragon Ball Z, long before I even knew what anime was. It was just a cool cartoon and I liked the action...at the time being a young person who enjoyed violence of any kind. I still do but...it's different from then. But I realized how bad quality it is compared to other anime (no offense to DBZ fans but the old episodes are sort of just there for nostalgia now) so thankfully I branched out, if only a little bit.

It was DBZ for mee too, when I was a kid, and still didn't know what is an anime.
Though, the first anime I watched for the sake of watching an anime was The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.
One dear friend reccommended it to me, and my anime addictness has begone, since I finished SH.

My first was Tenchi Muyo, which I got tired of after like 4 episodes, My first real series were Outlaw Star and Gundam Wing, which led to Cowboy Bebop and the tons of other Gundams. I wish there was more Outlaw Star, it was pretty sweet.

The first anime I ever watched was a two-hour block of it in Canada consisting of Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon, Astro Boy, and Transformers. I was 3.
Then, when I was 9, I started watching Toonami, and remembered Sailor Moon and Ronin Warriors from my vague, toddler memories. Thus started my personal anime craze of the next decade. I also started watching Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, and Digimon.
The first time I saw an anime that wasn't on TV was Fushigi Yugi, when I was in 8th grade. I must have been a born anime freak, because although the friend that introduced me to it called it "Mysterious Play", I insisted on calling it "Fushigi Yugi".
So I guess there have been three "beginnings" for me in my otaku life. : P

My very first... jeeeeebus this is hard xD.
I think the first anime that I ever layed eyes on was Hayao Miyazaki's Laputa: Castle in the sky. Haha, to this day it's still my favourite Ghibli anime movie evAr xP. I just love the whole classic storyline and the characters were pretty too.
My first ever series was either Sailor Moon or Dragonball (no idea which arc it was =o), mind you I watched all of this in chinese when I visit Hong Kong and when my uncle brought round the old tapes for us. No idea if Shin Chan counts either? Dude... Shin chan is soooo much better in chinese, it's alot cuter~! xDD.
There's also Guru Guru and Ninja Boy Rantaro, my gawd, I miss those series... I remember waking up early on a saturday morning just to catch it on our Chinese channel box xD.

First anime? I guess it would have to be Pokemon and Digimon and all that... but if I'm allowed to ignore that...
The first Anime I really got into was Full Metal Alchemist... but the first Anime film I watched was Akira, closely followed by "Urotsukidoji - Legend Of The Overfiend / Legend Of The Demon Womb" XD Probably not one of the best films to start out on.

Friggin kids.
The first anime I ever watched was Macross, followed closely by the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
Both shows were excellent and got me hooked on mecha, which I still follow religiously. This eventually led to me watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, the anime that got me obsessed with anime in general.

I feel old looking at this thread.
I know what you mean, feeling like dinosaurs.
Well my first anime was Tekkaman Blade, followed by Ronin Warriors. But it wasn't until my early teens when I watched Blue Seed that I started to get hooked into anime. But animes now at days don't have that glamour as it used to have.
Dragon Brigade
Apr 13 2007, 05:57 PM
My first was Pokemon, then one day my brother flipped the channel and Digimon was on and we got hooked on that show. Then, after that I saw some DBZ at my cousin's. So, for me it was Pokemon first. Otherwise, if I make like Flame and ignore those three...it'd be Air Gear...I don't get much of a chance to watch any anime unfortunately...

I really didn't think DBZ was an anime when I was younger just another cartoon show that I watch... My first other than that was Trigun. Good one to start off on too. I have only been watching anime for alittle over 2 years now.

I think the first anime I ever watched was LIttle Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. At least, I think that was an anime. If it was, that was definately my first, because I remember watching it when I was very, VERY young. But back then, I just thought it was your average American cartoon.
But the show that got me into anime was definately Sailor Moon. I remember watching it in Kindergarden. A bunch of pretty girls beating people up and shooting fire and thunder at them while posing all pretty. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

This Thread makes me feel really old considering my first ever anime I saw was Speed Racer back when it was on TV when I was a youngin'...closely followed by the few showings of DragonBall on tv during the early 90's when it was the "newest" thing.
If I ever want to scare a Kid these days I tell them I was born before the public release of the INTERNET!!!! Muahahahahah, that and back before Michael Jackson turned white. THRILLER! Lol

I'm not quite sure, it was either Pokemon or DBZ, it was way back when I didn't have a clue what anime was, they were just (at the time) cool cartoons.

The first anime I ever watched was Sailor Moon but it didn't start my love to watch anime since I was so young when I watched it. The true show that made me watch anime was Digimon, that was classic.

SAILORRRRR MOOOOOOOOOOOON
wompwompwomp :D
I love sailor moon. It's the first anime I've ever watched at a keen age of 5 years old. It's basically what started the sailor moon fad for me and my obsession with it. From there it just went from Pokemon, to Digimon, to Cardcaptors (i know, westernized version yeah yeah yeah) and then I learned to reach out and check out other animes. I think Cartoon Network made it really something for me when I watched things like DragonBallZ and BigO.

rurouni kenshin (and no, I didn't watch it on cartoon network) I spent an hour in that store reading the back of boxes, looking for something that looked good...I didn't know what anime was, and an old friend from here was telling me about it and told me to get into it because I'd like it...well they were right...I loved kenshin! watched the entire vol 1 straight through and was sad I didn't get vol 2

I think the first Anime(or is it Manga?) I watched was Akira, but it was quite a while ago. I also saw the Streetfigher animated movie(i'm not sure that classifies) and Tekken. Not long after that I saw Fist Of North Star, I watched all these quite a few years ago, I had freind who was into that sort of thing so I borrwed a few videos to check them out.
I haven't seen anything recently though other than the Animatrix DVD which came with my Matrix boxset, and Final Fantasy AC, but I want to see more I just know where to start to be honest.

The first anime I ever saw that made me want to see more anime was when I was 6. I saw the anime Venus Wars. What kid doesn't love tanks, monobikes, guns and explosions? I was estatic when it was aired once on Scifi Channel when I was like 10. That made me go and look up more movies. I then watched Akira and Ghost in the Shell. I think that was all around 1995-96. After that I went to Gundam series and other series. Never really watch much anime on TV.. was never a fan of DBZ or Pokemon. I think seeing some good anime movies made my taste somewhat better than most people that are new to Anime.

The first anime I ever watched was Cardcaptors on the WB. I use to love watching it and would watch it every time I got home after school. ^^ It was my fav and still is but I have to say that I like CCS much better. It kind of makes me hate English dubs but meh sometimes I am too lazy to track the the english subs (like for Naruto). Then my love for CCS brought me to TRC which is also awesome though I haven't watched it in a while...
I got the CCS movie the Sealed Card though and I LOVE that movie and I enjoy making fan music videos of it ^^ In fact I made one just the other night =P
Plus I also thought Li was cute!

My first anime would be Dragon Ball. My mother Japanese and introduced the anime to me and introduced Sailor Moon to my sister. Nothing to special to my first anime. The anime that got me into liking anime a ton would be Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 when I watched on the Action Channel. I got into anime big time after that before I found out the ability to download anime.
