The Tales series is well known for the quality of its soundtracks, being amongst the best that videogames have to offer, as evidence by the number of times people mentioned it in the recent favourite game soundtrack thread. But which was the best of the series for you? Is there a particular moment where you just had to sit back and appreciate the music, a moment where the music was that well tuned to the events on screen that you couldn't help but realise how good it actually was. Do you own tracks yourself from any of the games? Anyway i think you get point...

Have been enjoying the soundtrack to TotA, though i've found that ToS was a bit more varied with regards to dungeons i think the music for the world map in TotA is the best out of the games i've played so far, very good at setting the mood of whats occuring in the storyline.

Enjoyed the music from the end credits of ToS, what i would rate as one of the best of any game i've played but that's up to debate. Also liking the remixed version of the intro of TotA that's being used towards the end of the game for the more moving parts between characters.

Well that's all i can think of at the moment, will probably edit this later when more comes to mind.

Aaaanyway from all the Tales games I've ever played ToL stomps all of the Tales combined, partly because it was handled by Go Shiina who had a different style compared to Sakuraba and I'm also a sucker for orchestra which makes it an even OMGWTF plus points in the music department for the game. So all in all I'd say Legendia OST >>>>>>>>> Rest of the series

Wow, trying to pick one of the Original Soundtracks over all of the other Tales... thats hard. They all sound pretty similar don't you think? Especially Phantasia and Symphonia.

If I had to pick I'd say Tales of Legendia. It was different from all the others and I loved the music wherever I was, even when you have to go back to certain places in the Character Events after completing the main game. I think I even bought the soundtrack... not sure but by far its the best. Second to me would be of course, Phantasia but only the playstation version, it sounds more updated.

Tales of Symphonia had the best music for me. I guess the story just had a more dramatic feel for me personally, so the music helped it along very well. Tales of the Abyss comes in a close second however. The music in that game is good, and I agree with PAL about it having the best map music.

Sorry I'm going with the majority of the group. Tales of Legendia has the best soundtrack I've heard so far. It's well synced with the parts of the game where it plays. It is the only Tales OST I have downloaded. Symphonia has had a few good songs. I haven't downloaded any though. What I've seen of Tales of the Abyss the music may be good. I haven't played it yet though.

Tales of Legendia would be my favorite soundtrack. I got a hold of the soundtrack before I even got the game and enjoyed it. That's not to say I don't think highly of the rest of series soundtrack. I just liked Go Shiina's style of music compare to Sakuraba's style of music. I would like to play more of Legendia, but I'm sure my opinion will just be higher of Shiina's music.

Well it sounds like the soundtrack from ToL is gonna be something special, luckily i've got the game sitting on my shelf waiting for me so something to look forward to.

have just finished TotA this morning and though i did mention that i liked the end credits of ToS, those of TotA are on a completely different level, not sure whether this is just because of the music, which was fantastic, or it was the combination with the scenes going on that were more poignant than ToS. Loved the grand fonic hymm and how it was incorporated throughout - just excellent.

So while i think that ToS had the overall better OST i think TotA had more standout tracks.

Either Legendia or Abyss for me, can't really choose between the two.
Legendia brought something different as it was done by Go Shiina over Motoi Sakuraba, a lot of orchestrated songs. Granted, I never played Legendia, but I did check out the soundtrack.

However, I appreciated how Abyss remixed the main theme Karma in the game with tracks like Mirrors, Meaning of Birth, and so on. This is just my overall love for the song, though. XD I adore Karma.

The tales series soundtrack are just amazing. It's by far the best music i have ever seen in video games, i bet it's amazing to play this game on a home theater. The close second for best soundtrack would be final fantasy 6 hahah, man that game had good midi

I'm gonna say tales of legendia, most of the tracks were well composed in that game. The only music i haven't really liked in the tales games, is the map music i don't like any of them personally. However i can definitely say that every tales game has awesome battle music!
