Dragon Brigade
As the title implies, I have not played a single Wild Arms game to date, nor do I really know what the plot is about. All I've heard is that the first two were good, and the latest one out was bad. I don't know if that was necessarily reliable information or not, so I'm just going to ask right here, which game should I start out on for this series? Does it follow the story line of the first one, or is it like Final Fantasy where it mostly just shares the same name? Which would you say is the best game, and which one is considered the worst? Also, if somebody could tell me what the general story line is, that would be great too.

Sorry if there are a bunch of other topics here that are like this, but I browsed the fist page and didn't see any, so I'm assuming there at least aren't too many...

I'm new to the series also and the only reason i bought the latest one was due to the review it got in rpgdreamers if i was you i don't recommend getting wild arms alter code f (trust me you'll be in a early grave for playing.)
Death
Get the Origional WIld arms first, or the remake. Good buy.

The 2nd was good, but not as good as the first.

The 3rd in my opinion was fun, but make sure you start off with the first character, I chose the sniper, and didn't know if you waited, you reloaded, and it screwed me over =[
Dragon Brigade
Alrighty then, thanks for the replies! I'll get the first one, as you advised Death. Unfortunately I imagine I'm going to have to resort to eBay for it, since none of the used/new game stores around me has it. That doesn't really surprise me though. Anyway, I'll keep that advice in mind as well for the third if I ever manage to find a copy of it and beat the first two during my life span...
HyperMecha
I'd start with the first ones first. IMO the earlier ones are better, and it got consecutively worse as it went on. So yeah, good luck on ebay, try amazon.com too. Sometimes they're cheaper than ebay if you find a good copy in the used section. Sometimes not...I usually compare.

You may as well buy Alter Code F because its a remake of the original Wild Arms, not only that, its alot easier to find brand new, you should be able to pick it up at a reasonable price and its damn good game to boot smile.gif I used to have the original Ps1 Wild Arms and I definitely think the remake is just as good if not better.
Dragon Brigade
Oh, Alter Code F is a remake? Well, that would definitely make my search for the first one much easier XD Thanks Cloudycat! And thanks for the other replies everyone!

No probs smile.gif There are a few fundemental difference's, but considering there is about seven years and an updated console between the two that's bound to happen. Its quite similar to Wild Arms 3 in regard to not needing to equip anything. This can either be looked at as a drawback or an advantage it just depends on personal taste. Overall though the story has been extended and has new FMV's. Anyway I hope you have fun with it, i'm still playing it myself when I get the chance smile.gif
Flame
I've only played WA3 and I really enjoyed the battle system but exploring on it is just so damn painful. You can only avoid a certain number of battles in a dungeon (You have a meter that goes down) and after that you have to fight each and every battle with no escaping... not normally such a bad thing... that is unless the encounter rate is really high. And this is.

Exploring the World map is painful as well... towns are hidden and you have to find them using a search command... but even if you go to the right place the new location may not open up simply because you have to talk to some random stranger at another town first... except you don't know this.

Have a walkthrough with you for WA3... that way you'll know exactly where to go in the dungeons but you can still enjoy the battles.
Hoodman
One is the best overall, but I personally like 2(I got about 1/3 through the first one because it was friends and so I dont kno too much on how the game is overall). Truthfully I really need to play one in full because two borrows highly from one, plus one thing I forgot is character development. One has far more developed characters than two. Now WA3 is fun, WA2 is cool but WA3 is the most fun, with ship battles, fun characters on both sides, terrible boss then again so did 2. Wait I just need to play one again ahhhhh. I havent touched Wild arms since 3 by the way.
Dragon Brigade
I've noticed nobody has mentioned whether the fourth one is good. Is it as good as the others or is it a complete flop in comparison? And, yes, thank you to all those who commented, the advice is appreciated^_^
Athrun
From what I heard there were some split oppinions about 4. But I'm guessing it's not on par with the other games in the series. Wild Arms 1 is a very good choice if you want a good WA game.
Cel Merion
Personally Brig. First get 2, as that's the "official" best one. With Lord Blazer and all. THEN you'll want to get 3. As I actually did play this one, you do need a faq for it, but it's all good and awesome until the last chapter. dry.gif That last boss kinda pulled a "Necron". The other two, get at your leasure.
highlander
I think the best is wild arms 2 but reviews for this game is not as good as others. It is a little similar to final fantasy 8 with flying base and missions to stop bigger threat but overall game is good and story is very good too.
lodo
i have not played the games either but i have watched the anime if its the same
then the games must be good
Roughknight
I suggest you get Wild Arms 1 first but then I can't really say cause that's the only one I've played thatsuck.gif but I loved it so much I played it at about 5 times,
Crimson Cloud
Wild Arms the first one or the remake WA Alter Code F, then the second one and the third. You can pick the 4th but rent it first in my opinion. Hope you enjoy playing them cuz they are not as bad as some people say.
Dragon Brigade
Alright, thanks for the input guys! I'll pick up Alter Code F since it's probably easier to find, plus it's a remake of the first so things are bound to be a bit better than the original. I'll get WA 2 next, take Flame's advice with 3, and I'll see how 4 looks when I get to it. Thanks again!
