It is the world where the man-eating demon hangs out. To fight against the demon, the human beings create female soldiers that are half demons and half human. They have silver eyes and large swords. They are named Claymore after their swords.
When Claire was a child, she met Theresa, the strongest Claymore. To save Claire, Theresa broke their iron rule to kill a human. Because of breaking the rules, she was wanted by punitive group. Pricilla, a member of the punitive group, couldn't control the power of the magical sword, and turned into an "Awakened". Then, Theresa was beaten by the large power of Pricilla. To avenge Theresa, Claire decided to inherit Theresa’s flesh to become Claymore.
http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3917,rxjrkz,claymore.htmlI'm only a couple of episodes into this, but I'm already caught up with the manga, which is really amazing. The artwork is excellent, as well as the plot.

I have watched the first four episodes of Claymore. I can't say I'm overly impressed. Though, I have not got into the main plot yet. I will continue watching the anime until they get into the main plot. I'm sure it will have a interesting plot. Just need to wait until the anime getting into it.
So far, I can not say I like Clare or Raki too much. Claire interesting though. Raki on the other hand just plain annoying. No other major character been introduction yet to my knowledge. Other than that man in the black. I don't remember his name or if it's even been given yet in the anime.

Bad tempered women with huge swords out to kill each other, I'm hooked already.
Though to be actually serious, thanks to my girlfriend I've seen the first couple episodes, and it isn't bad. Though I agree with Eva, Raki is not the type of character I want surviving the full series.

Eva, if you can, I suggest checking out the manga. The anime thus far has shortened most of the fights. And it does pick up, after the whole incident with the church.

Likely not. Mainly due to not being a fan of reading manga on the computer. Not to mention how far behind on the one manga I need to get back into, that being Air Gear. Though, telling me it pick up after the church incident cool. I'll likely wait for episode 10 released before I jump back into it. I do need to watch Claymore 5 since I like to watch anime in a batch of five in one sitting.

I love love LOVE the series. Yeah it gets pretty slow once you start going through that stupid church sequence, but it does give you a little insight into important features of Claymores such as Awakenings and how they function.
The segment after this, if it's what I think it is, is really interesting. Gets you more insight into a lot of things, and everything else after that just gets simply AMAZING. Yar. I would know, I'm a huge huge huge avid stay-up-late-just-to-read-it-on-a-school-night fan of the manga. Definitely stick with it. :D

I really like the way they did the fight against Precilla. It's so totally awesome how Noel and whatsherface just get stabbed through the head. Didn't happen that way in the manga, but the brutality is an improvement.

I started reading the manga after this topic was made. =)
Vol 6 at the moment, the lack of male character disturbs me. There is one, but he's a shota. Okay, it doesn't matter since there are lots of tough women with tight outfits.
Well, Spoiler ALERT! Teresa's death was sad, she's the best, but died like that. Arms chopped, head's off. Only because she was having a slight mercy for that stupid jerk, who returned the favor by sending her to heavens.
I can see where the story is going, soon there won't be any Claymore vs Yoma anymore, but Claymore vs. Claymore. There are so much inside conflicts.
Reminds me of Berserk, female version.

Weeeeeeeelllllll
Although I love love LOVE♥ Teresa, I don't think Priscilla is necessarily a jerk because she killed her. Teresa did break the code of the organization, and she was bound to be sought out after by a lot of high ranking Claymores. Priscilla just did her job, although in the process she got awakened. :s Priscilla tends to have an extreme view of right and wrong, and Teresa winning, although she is seen as "wrong", just brought her to a frenzy.
On another note, I haven't been caught up with the anime. Although, has anyone read the latest chapters released? :D!!! So freaking awesome.
Read on for spoilers concerning things up to Ch.72
I really wonder where Raki went. It surprised me that Priscilla and Isley kept him alive, and if he's still alive after 7 years....damn. O: I really am awaiting for the time when Raki and Clare reunite. And speaking of Clare, when she half awoken while fighting Rigald..........FREAKING sweet. :D Although I hate to see Claymores awakened, their forms are just so beautiful in a sense, like how Jean resembled a butterfly.

All you chumps who were waiting for episode 10 can get to work. I've been going with Eclipse as my subber, and I don't think any one else is as far along as them.
I also can't put into words how awesome episode 10 is. It needs to be watched.
They're doing a magnificent job of following the manga right now, right down to every last detail.
Spoiler!
Episode 10 was good. I did start enjoying the anime during the Teresa arc. Not a huge fan at how that arc concluded, but it's served it's purpose, which would be giving good motivation to Clare and explain why she's Claymore and such. I wasn't too shocked to find out Clare was that weak after watching the Teresa arc, but did enjoy her showing off her abilities during Episode 10. I mainly enjoyed it because it shut those two snobbish Claymore up in a second.
I'm likely follow this anime weekly since I'm starting to enjoy it quite a bit. Still, I wish the Claymore didn't all swear the hair and eye color trait. Not a fan of that and I'm aware why they look like that. Just don't like it too much. It doesn't bother me that much.Spoiler end!
Until next week.

Hai, just to bump this topic since I found this in page 2.
Still only up to ep.11 because since ep.12 is a part 1 of sort and I dont want to have a hanger end for an ep. The series is interesting and I definitely look forward to future eps. The previous arc was interesting but I as of the moment the Teresa would have to be my favorite. =)
You can watch 12, 13 and 14. That will be the end of another interesting story tier.
I did enjoy this past story tier a ton. I expected Irene to appear at a certain point since I figure she didn't die. I expected her to give Clare her arm too once Clare lost her, because Ophelia destroyed it. Clare put a end to Ophelia easily once she learn the Flash Sword technique and obtain Irene's arm. Still, enjoyable tier. I can't wait for the next one.
Oh, for a second there, I thought Rafaela was part of Irene's group who hunted Teresa, but nope, she wasn't. Mainly, because she was missing a eye and one of the Claymore lost their eye during the hunt for Teresa.

Jul 6 2007, 07:27 AM
I had the same idea when I saw Rafaela but then it turned out different. =/ Most of the stuff pretty much fell into place especially when Clare lost her right arm, I mean seriously it would have been quite weird if she only had one arm for the rest of the show but then Irene showed up and well the rest happens as they should. ^^;; Ophelia was sort of disappointing for an awakened being but then again I guess it can't be helped since she didn't even noticed it herself.

Wow, it seems like the anime is progressing really fast. (Lols, the last I watched was 10...I haven't bothered to keep up since.) But I'm wondering how fast the anime will progress in comparison to the manga, since I get this suspicious feeling that the anime is progressing a lot faster than I think the manga is. (But then again, maybe 10sigh is just a slower scanlator. Hrmm.)

Decided to revive this topic, anyway The anime series is up to ep. 19 already.
*spoiler*
Pretty much already in the Northern War Arc, so Awakened Ones fighting Claymores. etc. Nothing to special, though we do get to see Raki again who's been missing in action since the whole Ophelia bit. In anycase I picked up vol, 1, I'd have read the manga online, but can't find a good place where I can just read the translated scans rather download them translated.
Umm also I'm wondering, how come Priscilla's hair color seems to have turned brown, rather than the traditional Claymore really bright Blonde. all in all, can't wait for next week's episode.

This anime goes by so fast and always has so much action in every episode, well, almost every episode. It's a good pace for me since I don't like meaningless episodes that accomplish nothing.
**Spoiler**I was kind of thinking that those two at the end, who are Priscilla and most likely Isley were going to show up in front of Raki, just to make things more complicated. This sets up Clare wanting to save Raki from those two possibly in the next episode or so. But I wonder if this big war will take up the rest of the show, or even extend into another season since there are so many things it could branch off of. The South Deep Dweller for example, we've never even heard of them really. Plus the Claymore organization and trying to capture Clare (even though her handler said she might get off the hook if she killed the Awakened Ones) I highly doubt they'll let her go. So many things with so few episodes left...

Clare still doesnt know where Raki is going into the new arc. Pretty much they survive the Northern War, which should be at least another episode or two. However, the survivors go missing and are labled dead. Several years past, and Clare goes looking for Raki. Who amazingly enough is being taught swordsmandshipe by Isley 9silver haired guy who surprisingly looks like a bishie). So this leads me to a question, is there gonna be a RakixClare thing going on during the next Season?

OHOHOHOHOH, YOU GUYS GOING INTO THE DEEP ##### NOW EH? :D Well since I'm a huge manga OMG!!!FAN of Claymore, I'll fangirl at your spoilers as well. Don't read if you don't want the post-war arc spoiled.
This is the spoiler concerning just the war part, so hopefully not too much revealed?
I love how the teams are split up evenly. I really fangirled, considering how all of them have their own special skill and how they handle Yoma's differently. The fights should be pretty interesting to watch, but it gets a lot more hardcore and that's what I'm most excited to see.
Now, post-war spoilers...
The survivors aren't actually dead, they basically PRETENDED to be dead because they knew the Organization set them up. The battle was a lost one, you couldn't possibly win against so many awakened beings, especially considering Ligardes pretty much ##### most of them up. (GO clare! You rock the I'm-going-to-awaken-but-I-resist-by-the-help-of-Jean) So they pretty much pretended to die while escaping and hiding out for a couple of years.
Finally Clare looks for Raki, but the other survivors are pretty much going with her too. Meanwhile, a low-ranking Claymore (forgot her damn name, she's such a forgettable character) goes with a new #4 rank named Miata who is unbearably unstable with her emotions and they go and hunt the previous #3, Galatea, who is being hunted by the Organization for desertion. I'm not really sure how that arc fits in, but it somehow does. :\
Also, it hasn't been really revealed if Clare x Raki is taking shape, mostly because...well...right now manga releases has only hit the "extra chapters" category. Info on Ch.74 won't come out until November from what I hear.
Now that I'm done with that......
Am I to believe the season's almost over? I'm surprised the anime caught up so quickly with the manga. :\ What took me months to read and follow for every chapter release basically is out in less than a year lols. :D
Either way, if it's almost over, I don't know what they're going to do with episodes in between. Are they going to progress ahead of the manga? Are they going to do fillers of the Extra Chapters until the manga gets far ahead? Bah, I don't know, but if the anime goes ahead I'm going to curse the gods.

Ehehehe, Rina swore. in anycase
*highlight*
Sorry for any confusion in my post, it's late at night, I'm a lil' sleepy. In anycase the whole Clare x Raki is just a guess, considering several years past, Clare looks that way forever and Raki well he's gonna get older. Plus the whole relationship they have right now is well it seems like it goes beyond brother and sister feelings at times. In anycase the low ranking Claymore in the New Arc, yeah try looking it on Wiki, I'm too lazy to look it up. But yeah she has a forgettable face with a forgettable name. I'm more interested though in seeing more of Raki and what kind of a warrior he's become. He had some talent but not good enough to beat anyone at that point. Probably after the training with Isley, he's going to on Clare's level. Maybe even greater, who knows.*end Highlight*
Yes Rina the anime is soon coming to an end to the first season. But I expect the season finale to happen around September to early October, so the chances of it passing the manga is highly unlikely. In anycase, i think i'll try my hand with the Viz manga, especially since I have vol. 1 already.

Yeah. The anime will end at episode twenty four or twenty six, I don't exactly trust ANN regarding a epiosde number for a entire series until the anime ended. Either way, the anime will be over by next month either the early part of September or end of September. I doubt it'll go beyond twenty four or twenty six and I do expect another season in the future.
I highly doubt the anime can go beyond the manga. If it's nearly over, how would go beyond the manga? I figure the war coming to a conclusion will end the anime. The anime will likely take a year break until next year, likely start back up like Tsubasa Chronicles did with their anime.

Ophelia just recently transformed into Awaken One would likely explain why she had silver hair. So, it likely takes time for their hair to change to a different color. Claymore have silver hair, but when they become an Awaken One, they're no longer a Claymore. If Ophelia lived for a long period of time, then her hair color likely would have changed, I assume their hair color changes to it's original hair color when they were human, but that's just a speculation on my part.

I saw ep. 20 and ep. 21 *spoiler highlight to read*
Okay apparently the Invasion of Pieta has begun.
ep. 20
Had no action, but was extremely deep with the whole character development. We get to see an understanding between Undine and Deneve, and a lil' background to Undine. As well deepening of the relationship with Flora and Clare. We get to see Raki a lil' more, and Isley giving him a few tips on swordsmanship.
ep. 21
Isley declares all out war on Isley and wants everyone wiped out. He sends out Ligardes to finish of the Claymores. Both sides take considerable losses until Ligardes steps in and pretty much rapes the Claymores. Killing of a few unknown Claymores, Undine, incapacitating Jeane, and killing flora. The guy is seriously on steroids. . .. Also We get so Priscilla eating the guts of some villager, and Raki finds out she's an Yoma (when really she's an awakened being), he tries to kill her but is unable to. Then Isley comes out of nowhere and tells the truth about Priscilla, and Raki begins to sympathise with her.
All in all both episodes were fairly enjoyable, I can't wait for next week's episode.

I just finished watching 21 myself, and it's probably one of my favourites in the anime so far, this fight is way awesome. Though one part that got to me was when Undine died .Normally I wouldn't care, but after her big moment in ep 20, she was one character I wanted to live through to the end. I also found it kind of funny how utterly hopeless Flora was. After all she was number 8, and supposed to have the quickest draw, yet barely had time to scream before Ligardes tore her apart. So I'll most likely enjoy 22 as well.
Oh and Soul, in your ep 21 description, you got the city name wrong, thought I'd let you know.

Really? I thought it was right. . . In anycase watched episode 22.
Highlight below
We get to see Claire pretty much get pissed of at Ligardes (or Ricardo from the different subs I've been reading). Deneve blaming herself for Undine's death, while Ligardes attacks Miria. The fight is flashy and all but we don't see the fight resolved at all. Meanwhile Raki is found pitying Priscilla in the cave where she was found eating some random person. Isley then explains that to Raki that Priscilla was once a Claymore, but doesn't disclose the information that she was the mentor of Claire's killer. Also in a sense explain Awkened Ones are almost human beings, it's just that they eat humans. They soon pack their stuff until they run acroos a couple of villagers from Pieta who are running away from the conflict. The villagers tell the travelers that a huge amount of Claymores have gathered at Pieta and are attempting to fight off a large amount of Yoma (Isley's army), and also tells that they've even got the lowest ranking Claymore fighting. Upon hearing this Raki apologizes to both Priscilla and Isley (well sort of) and rushes off on horseback to get to Claire. Towards the end, we see Miria has been badly injured, Claire not wanting to lose another comrade pushes herself almost to limits enough to cut off Ligardes' left arm, and we see Claire slightly similar to the form that Priscilla took before she awakened. All in all I can't wait for the next episode.

With the sweet time they're taking up in the north I'm thinking a second season will happen since there's still a lot to be covered if you've searched ahead...
Episode 22... it was pretty sweet, though I hated when it would go from Clare's scene to Raki's, his was so boring haha. ::SPOILER:: So I guess Clare's awakened though I can easily see this (possibly) going down the road where Raki shows up at the last minute and Clare reverts back to her normal self, thus having Raki saving her again. I could be wrong though, but its what I get from what I've watched so far. It's so pathetic how all the captains died so easily like Flora. Damn woman, live up to your number! Kick some arse! ::END SPOILER::
I can't wait for the next episode so I can see how everything turns out.

Well they'll have to sub it first, so that'll take about a day as well. I've generally seen the new episodes on Thursday.

Well I've never read the manga so I don't have a clue except for the bits I picked up from Wikipedia. But as long as they maintain the quality of it, I'm not too fussed.

I'm not terribly too pleased with the liberties that have been taken with the anime.
Though, the showdown coming up will likely be fun to watch.

Well I finally got to have a proper look at Priscilla's awakened form, and the part with Helen and Clare asking to be killed was pretty damn epic, I loved how they did it So though uneventful it wasn't a waste of time.

The showdown, I was expecting this later in the anime. With the way how things are going, it doesn't seem that there's going to be a second season. Oh well looking forward to the next episode ater 25 to see what happens.

There still could be, another season in Clarice's time. After all the Priscilla fight didn't get anywhere, Clare got her ass kicked when she wasn't even fully awakened, Maria got crushed, and Helen and Deneve all got limbs cut off so it's obvious they're done for. There's still a lot to do

I started watching this a while back, only got through 2 or 3 episodes though, before I got sidetracked by some other things. Really liked it from what I saw, and judging by this topic, I should probably get back to it...lol =)

Claymore the anime wow I have to say that it started off very well but as we got closer to the ending. You could tell that the adapting staff was running out of material and the ending really made no sense to me. Spoiler: The Clare vs Priscilla battle was great but the way they concluded it was horrible. It went against what the series was about and that was Clare's revenge. Priscilla should of been killed she killed Teresa who Clare cared very much about and then the ending was just "lets stop here" They could of just concluded with Priscilla's death and at least the anime would have had one of the most important ends tied up.
I'm so glad that the manga ended up making a lot more sense then the anime. I'm really enjoying reading every new volume that comes out. Spoiler: Learning about Alicia and Beth and how the Claymores got away from the army of yomas and now the latest volume I heard a little bit of it translated it really open ups the world of Claymore and am very interested where it will go from here.
