If you like Albert so much LW, you might want to take a look at Leon Silverburg. He is in Suikoden I and II and as his name says, he is indeed a tactician.
Though never your main tactician, he certainly is important.
But outclassed by Mathiu and Shu whom I consider to be the best tacticians as of yet, would be interesting to see the story enfold from their point of view, considering none of them wanted to join you in the first place.
Yeahhh I know Leon is very similar, but I think Albert is wayy cooler haha. I'd rather be involved with Yuber, Sarah, and Luc firsthand, I think that's why I'd choose Albert over Leon.
But seriously, imagine a game in the POV of a tactician. Like, there wouldn't have to be cause and effect things. Like, you'd play through the game, and periodically you'd be given options to take certain courses of action, but each course of action doesn't have the same result. Like, take this for instance:
There's a young child drowning! (What will you do?)
Send somebody in after them
Find them a floatation device
Ignore the child and focus on the dangerous path in front of you
Swim out there yourself, there's no time to waste!
And like, you choose which one you want, except there's no correct answer. Whichever answer makes the most sense has the highest percentage of working, but it isn't a definite. So for this example let's say:
Send somebody in after them (75%)
Find them a floatation device (10%)
Ignore the child and focus on the dangerous path in front of you (0%)
Swim out there yourself, there's no time to waste! (15%)
But as a player you cannot see these percentages, but you take the course of action that seems to make the most sense. BUT, it isn't a definite. THere's a 1 in 4 chance your plan fails. Or if you decided to find them a floating device there's a 1 in 10 chance it works. BUT there's still a chance.
Hahahah sorry for this elaborate and off topic post, but I really felt like spewing my idea out hahhaa
