Not sure how far off the OVA would be from being released. While Symphonia did every cliche possible, I did enjoy the game and can't wait to watch the OVA. Since I didn't play the game in Japanese, this would be the first time I would hear the characters using their original voice, at least I assume the seiyu from the game and OVA would be the same.

Wow! I'm surprised there was a topic made for this! XD
I've been excited for the OVA since I saw the trailer on, I believe, the official site, but it was much smaller and lesser quality.
Yeah, the story was so dang cliche, but I'm really excited to see all the characters in animation. Kratos and Zelos~~~ <3

I watched the first episode of OVA a week or two ago. There's slight altercation, but nothing too noticeable. I enjoyed the OVA quite a bit. I never heard the Japanese voices of the cast. So, that took some getting use to, but I enjoyed quite a few of voices over the English. Especially Colette! I can't stand how much I prefer her Japanese voice over her English voice.
I can't wait for the next episode. I can't wait until Zelos introduced!

Yeah the first episode was quite good. The change works well but I still prefer the original story. I wonder how they're gonna include Marble later now? (Or if they will include her)
I guess this method does speeding things up a little. >_>
For the time being Raine seems less strict and crazy.

Marble was the old woman at the Iselia Human Ranch that Genis would frequently visit and give her the food he saved from lunch. Lloyd and Genis got caught when they saved her from being punished by one of the Desians and thus caused them to attack the village in search for them. They removed Marble's Keycrest-less Exsphere from her and turned her into a monster (The first boss battle in the game).
Genis's Exsphere was originally Marble's, he kept it in memory of her as he thought of her as a grandmother.
I saw the first episode a while back and I liked it, aside from the the changes of the original story. Mainly with the events at the Temple of Martel, the Desians and the Renegades, and Forcystus' appearance and his death. o.o; Hopefully they don't do the same for the rest of the Grand Cardinals. ...except Kvar, he needs to be mauled.
I also like how they showed a little more about Lloyd's mom compared to the game, where she was just mentioned. Hopefully we finally get to see what she looks like!
Actually, after watching the characters with their japanese voices changed some of my opinions on them. I used to not really like Colette all that much when I played the game and she grew on me throughout the story, but she was far from my favourite. After seeing her in the OVA, she's so much cuter with her japanese voice. <3
I'm a little sad that they didn't put any clumsy jokes, but hopefully they do it later on. Lloyd is pretty dorky, but I expected that of him. ;p Genis gets a lot of my love, but I adored him even when I played the game. Same for Raine. Kratos got all my helpless flailing as soon as he showed up.
Looking forward for the next episode, but, mostly, waiting for Zelos. Zelosssss~ ;D *melts*

Finally got round to watching it today and it was really quite good. Yeah the changes to the main story are many but i think to include everything from the game would be a little too much, it would have been nice to see the Marble storyline pan out but it'd require too much back story to explain in the first episode though they're going to have to introduce the mutations and the ranches sometime.
But even with all these changes i'm still struggling to see how they're gonna fit the bare minimum of the storyline in only four episodes.

Yeah I felt the same - but as long as they do the scene where Collette throws Zelos across the square in Meltokio right then all will be forgiven.

Since it only has 4 episodes scheduled it'll be rushed like the Tales of Phantasia the Animation and most of the story won't be told. But, its still fun to see the game characters become fully animated, even if the story will be drastically reduced and details will cease to exist.

What i don't really understand here is that they've done ToP and ToS in only 4 episodes yet Tales of Eternia got 13, haven't got round to watching it myself so don't know the details but it seems a shame that they wont give ToS the same chance as the story of the game was ever bit as strong/stronger than ToE

Yeah according to AnimeNewsNetwork episode 2 is out on Aug 10, ep 3 Oct 24 and the final eppisode on Dec 21, whether these are accurate or not is another question but i'd be on the look out for them sometime around then.
I'm more interested in seeing what they do with the summon spirits, but i'm guessing it probably wont be until the third episode till they get brought into it unless they follow a different route than the game, releasing the spirits with the seals in Sylvarent - it'd definitely save on time though that's require bringing Sheena into it earlier. What i'm really looking forward to though is the firing of the Mana Cannon, by far my favourite cut scene from the game, want to see how good a job they make of it.

Just wondering if any other person got a chance to watch episode two yet?
I watched during the weekend. Animation top notch, as expected of a OVA. Zelos and Sheena were introduced during episode two. Obviously, Zelos didn't interact with the main group yet, but you see him talking to Sheena during a scene. Kratos defeated Sheena without much trouble. Oh, Kratos and Lloyd pulled how that X-Slash. I forgot the name of that duel technique. Overall, enjoyable episode.

I managed to catch this one a couple of days after it came out, and its just as good as the first if not better.
Dont get your hopes up with Zelos - its a bit part at best, and tbh they've still not covered enough ground especially cosidering we're already half way through the proposed series and it's only covered the first two seals (complete with battle sequences), Raine in full ruin mania mode and the first confrontation with Sheena though the latter while only short was still pretty damn good. The only problem being watching all this has seriously got me hankering for a reply of the game
Its the first time i've heard Sheena's japanese voice over and i have to admit its an improvement on the english, which surprised me considering i thought Sheenas was one of the better ones of ours. Though i definitely prefer the english Kratos and possibly lloyd (though not the lloyd from ToW)

Well another good episode. I was a bit dubious about this being made into an anime at first - but i can't fault it. Sure there have been bits cut out but the plot and the characters haven't suffered for it. Some nicely done action scenes building on what was seen in the previous episodes but not over done leaving plenty of room for the development of the story. The scene about Lloyd's exsphere and subsequent plot points being a prime example of the latter - though i think they may have given a bit too much away too soon with the flash back.
Have to admit so far i'm liking Sheena a lot more in the anime than i did in the game, and i really dont remember Raine being so cold hearted towards Sheena and the victims in Luin (?) in the game but its been a while since i've played it so can't be certain.
Rumours are floating around about episodes 5 to 8 being announced, which would make sense considering the current progress of the story, having only just introduced Rodyle and Pronyma giving us 4 episodes of Sylvarent and 4 for Tethe'alla. Of course these rumours are from Wiki and dont come with any references so it could be a complete load of bull but i'll keep my fingers crossed regardless.

I’ve just started watching this now, and while I’m only 3/4 done with episode 1, I can safely say that I’m glad they did make this into an anime. It’s nicely done so far and there isn’t much I can complain about being left out or anything. I dunno. Being a fan of the game, I just like watching this anyway, haha. I’m not too far in it, like I said, but from what I’ve been reading, I can’t wait until they introduce Sheena. She’s my favorite character for the game, so I suppose it’s only natural I’d want to see her in the OVA. But yeah, it’s good so far.

Sure there are a few changes here and there, as the people at wikipedia have been kind enough to document, but the additions all work and the story flows nicely.
As for Sheena - you've got some good stuff coming up.
And with a further set of episodes all but officially confirmed - with the audio commentary on the last disc and the ending sequence of that episode - there's more to look forward to in 2008.

Yes, I loved her entrance in the anime. I was almost looking forward to her entrance as in the games, but this was good too because it gave her more of that “assassin feel” (if that makes sense). I’m also liking Zelos, regardless of how little time he was in this particular episode. Surprisingly he didn’t make any jokes on particular subjects, if you follow me, haha...Good stuff though. I’m moving on to episode three now.
As a side-note, I quite enjoy the music the anime has. I usually don’t pay much attention to anime music (though I have heard other stuff that I like, but then again I don't watch much anime to begin with), but the music for this one is good. Something I'd try to "obtain" in some fashion for further enjoyment in the future, haha...
I’ll be looking forward to the new stuff that should come out this year as well. I’d love to have more to watch =).

The introduction of Sheena was pretty sweet - though there are some highlights in ep 3.
As a whole episode though episode 4 is the best for me by quite a way - if you've liked what you've seen so far then i think you'll appreciate it as well.
Tbh i'm fairly new to anime myself but from what i've seen so far the music from this does rate pretty highly - but that's just down to personal preferences so dont read too much into that - ALMATERIA being one of my favourite opening sequences - one they utilize really well in the closing sequence of the fourth episode.
Got my fingers crossed hoping for a subbed version to be released like they did with Tales of Phantasia. The way i look at it if they end up having to get the cast together for ToS: KoR then i dont see why they'd have any difficulties in doing it, so it's all down to whether they have the inclination to do so or not. Of course we wont get the extras like in the japanese release but aslong as we get something i'd be happy.
Which reminds me, if you like production artwork and original sketches, check out this link for scans from the artbook that accompanied the collector's edition release of the OVAs.

Yes, I watched Episode 3 yesterday =). Introducing more of her klutzy nature, especially in such an important situation as infiltrating the Desian base, haha (not sure if that really was spoiler worthy, but just in case >.o). I had almost forgotten about that one Shikigami (I think that’s what it was called?) that she can summon though, so it was a slight surprise when it popped up in the anime. It was in the first boss fight against her in the game, the skeletal-type demon thing. I’d forgotten all about it. Guess that means I need to play the game again, haha =).
What shames me most though, is that I had forgotten about Corrine >.> I knew he was there, but since he dies in the game it had never occurred to me he’d pop up in the anime, haha...In other words, to see him alive again was a surprise, even though it makes perfect sense for him to be there...Lame of me, to be honest, as I liked him in the game as well >.o. Oh well.
I’ve been trying to find a subbed version of Ep. 4 though. I started watching one that wasn’t, but I decided it was pointless since I didn’t know what they were saying. Do you know where I could find a subbed version of it on the internet? Unfortunately my sources have been limited to YouTube just because I don’t really know of anywhere else, haha...yeah...
The artwork is really nice as well, from the link. Pretty interesting to look through all of it and see what they’ve got =). Oh, and I have one last question (that somebody may have said earlier, not sure), but how many episodes long is this anime so far? Is it just four?

Dont worry there is a subbed episode - and i'm limited to you tube as well atm - it took longer to be completed this time round due to the christmas break - usually only takes about 2-3 days from the japanese release for the subs to turn up, this time it took about 10.
