QUOTE (Animenfo)
In the distant future, people build their homes and raise domestic animals in subterranean caverns. As a result, they live in fear of the occasional earthquake and cave-in, and have been for hundreds of years. Jeeha is one such village.

One day, a boy named Simon happens to find a small, shiny drill whilst digging to expand the village. At the same time, Kamina, a guy who believes that there is another land above the village, persuades a gangster to break through the ceiling in order to leave the cavern. Suddenly, an earthquake occurs and the ceiling collapses, followed by a big robot breaking through the ceiling.

Kamina is now sure that there is a world above them. Recklessly, he begins to fight against the robot. At that moment, another person appears from the land above. It is a girl by the name of Yoko. With a rifle in hand, she had been tracking the robot. However, all she could do was distract it. Then, Simon shows what he had found to Kamina and Yoko. It's a mysterious robot whose head is also its body.

Couldn't find any topic about this yet, still it's awesome!
I <3 this anime, one of my favorites this season, along with Claymore, Darker Than Black, Hayate no Gotoku etc. tongue.gif

This show is awesome.

This show is GaoGaiGar awesome. It reeks of manliness, breasts, and memes.

In short, GAINAX is really hitting the nail on the head with this anime so far. With a drill, even.

By far, my favorite anime of the Spring of 2007. Not to mention one of my favorite anime of all time already. I don't know why I enjoy this anime this much, but I do. I'm actually not a huge fan of Yoko like many people are. Kamina the man! Just finished Episode 12 on Sunday and follow this anime weekly. I can wait to see the all grown up version of Simon. Gurren-Lagann move along with the plot fast, but I like that.

I would made a topic about this anime a long time ago, but I didn't think many people were watching Gurren-Lagann.

Did I mention that Sorairo Days, the OP theme, is awesome? smile.gif

Its far from awesome. =p

Only 11 eps. in and I'm not a huge fan of it maybe its because hot blood isn't my thing, although I can understand why people like the series. The characters for some reason just bore me especially Yoko and Simon, also I'm really really really glad that Kamina kicked the bucket and I slightly prefer Nia than the former even though they are pretty much the same except Nia has the feminine touch. =p

Just finished watching the fourth episode, plan on watching the fifth tonight. I was a bit skeptical in regards to liking this or not (which I posted in the what are you watching topic), but after watching the third episode I knew this was something I was going to continue watching. I'm still not crazy over the characters (I find Simon and Yoko still pretty boring) but I like Kamina's goofball-ness. I'm looking forward to see where it goes.

You're about to reach the climax of the first arc of the anime. Not sure whether you'll like what will happen at the end. I didn't like what happen, but I can't say it wasn't done well and help progress the anime in the right direction. I can't say what's going to happen since it's a major spoiler. From what you said, you might not like what's going to happen.

Yoko just fan service. Her actual character never appeal to me. She's cool due to her appearance, but her actual character isn't much to brag about. In Simon's case, I find he got better, but you're about to see that Simon going to get even more boring in the near future before he decide to become cool and entertaining, at least I thought that's what he became in the later part of the anime.

The anime fast pace, if you haven't noticed. Once you reach episode 15, you'll be finished with the first story tier.

Username, Sonic label his spoiler. You should label your spoiler in the future, too. I did it for you. You don't want to spoiler the anime for people who haven't watched it yet.

Yay for digging up really old topics!

I stopped watching this at Episode 13, but now the site that I was watching them at has taken all of the episodes down. Anyone know where I can watch this without actually downloading it onto my computer? I'd really like to get back into this series.
Servant Saber
Might be difficult, seeing as how this has been licensed for some time now. You might have to wait for DVD, unless there's still some up on YouTube.

Especially considering that ADV Films licensed Gurren-Lagann. They're been tougher on fan-sub community releasing their licensed animes than other companies have been. Still, not that difficult to locate the anime, if you known where to look.
Servant Saber
And on another note, the first DVD is already out. I'm not surprised ADV is working this quickly, because GL already had a rather large fanbase in the Fansubbing community.

I think this thread warrants a bump due the dub playing on the Sci-Fi channel in the US now. Any new fans of the series out therE?

Just got into it, I knew every detail of the series through spoilers. But I must say, when Kamina kicked the bucket it hit me harder than I thought it would. Haven't gotten to the time skip yet, probably next week I'll finish the series, if I get around to it.

On another note, the dub of this anime isn't too bad.
Denim
I love this show.

Kamina is a Code Hero, and I don't care how much one trashes Hemingway, code heroes are simply the best kind. Who the hell do you think I am!

Adult Swim pissed me off, so I moved from Saturdays to Monday's, watching anime on Sci Fi. It seems its been playing on there for awhile since one of the episodes they showed was one that was solely a recap. That was the second episode I saw. I may watch from the beginning, even though I know what will happen. The episodes I did see, I wasn't all that impressed. I didn't see what the big deal was, the animation looks a little tacky for my tastes. BUT, there can be diamonds in the rough so maybe I'll try and find this after I finish season one of Gundam 00. When I first saw it, I thought it was some anime from the 90's with the drill mech's and Kamina with those crazy shades haha.
Denim
You know what?

New best anime ever in my book.

Good day people. Good day. Good. Day.
