FF Dissidia? First time I've heard of it (probably missed something). I see Zidane and Kuja with enhanced graphics, which has slightly caught my interest. More info, please. =p

I read about Dissidia, but only which characters were involved. I didn't know it was a fighting game and I hadn't seen any pics before. Thanks for the scan. It looks pretty cool. Kuja and Zidane are in there. Hope they'll add a lot of famous FF characters.

By the way, the other person in the scan is "Warrior of Light" from FF1.

Well Dissidia and the VI remake have definately got me interested. VI was one of my favourites, apart from the lack of character choice I never had any problems, and a 3D battle game is always fun. I hope they actually name the Warriors of Light this time though.

Freaking PSP, why ? WHY ?
Dissidia is so Kingdom Hearts-like graphics. And the artworks were done by Tetsuya Nomura, maybe ? =)
Since it's for PSP, I won't have this, but ugh, I really want to at least play it. >.<

Sephiroth is confirmed as a playable character, since he showed up in the latest trailer shrouded in blazing flames in a familiar scene to anyone who's played FF 7. Although he doesn't face off against Cloud in this trailer but instead it is the Warrior of Light who challenges him when he sees him coming out of the flames.

Yeah this game might be fun. Now that Sephiroth is in it I guess that means they'll use Nomura's characters as well, so Cloud, Squall, Kadaj, Tifa, Zack, Seifer, Edea, Laguna, Tidus, etc. might more than likely show up next.


It probably has no special plot, it's just a fighting game anyway.

If it has a plot that would probably kill it believe it or not. It's probably a game just like Tekken or something, but from the sound of the trailer (I'm trying to find it right now), it's WAYYYY more expansive in 3D open fields and way more going on.

Anddd in that video, when Sephiroth comes out of the lava, there's a soldier there, I don't believe it's the Warrior of light since his horns are horizontal.. Is that Cecil???

I heard of this before but this is the first time I saw some pics from it and trailer. Looks cool, more reason for me to buy PSP now. It will be nice to see some characters clash with others like, for example Squall VS Sephiroth.

This reminds me, I pray that they put a battle sistem like this in one of their future FFs

Actually before the closeup you can see that his horns were standing straight up at first.



Perhaps it's some sort of transformation/alternate form when the horns change position, because he started glowing as well.

See, maybe most websites are wrong, because while searching for hte actual video, many websites summarized it, and said that Kain and Cecil made an appearance, is that wrong??

Ehh... well, not even Cecil has horns that stand out horizontally like that, so I'm not sure where they got that idea. Maybe he shows up in some other part of the trailer. But I would guess so, yeah. That's the Warrior of Light from the looks of it.

Just saw a new trailer for the game, turns out good old Sephy is in it after all, though it appears you all know that. And now with him, you can tell it's going to drive the fan boys into a frenzy.

Looks good. Lots of potential for different fighting styles with all the different FF characters, should be an interesting title.

Yeah that would be better. If they actually put some effort into this they could probably make it into a "FF version of Smash Brothers" so to say. I doubt it's going to get ported though, but who knows. Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection was popular for the PSP, and heavily requested to be ported to PS2, and arround a year later it shows up on PS3.

Frankly, I'm apalled that Square kept Kuja's thong. At first when I saw the Warrior of Light I thought it was Kuja, and I was like OMG HE'S FINALLY BADASS. But youd think they'd change that flaw in Kuja

so idea is gonna become a reality!!!!! but on the PSP if this game is really really good, I will buy a PSP just because this is something I've wanted to see for years. Heck since probably '97 when I thought FF7 people vs. FF6 v. FF4 would make good stuff.

on another note Nomura's characters are very cool but hey this has nothing w/o FF4 and FF6 characters. Kain, Cecil, Locke, Terra, Edge, Sabin, Edgar, Shadow, Rydia, Celes. You know they're tight and you know want to see them graphicly updated more than any1 else

Honest to god, I really do wanna see them graphically updated. I wanna see what Cecil looks like in artform, same with Kain, and not the Amano bullcrap drawings (I personally think those are awful), but REAL character art. Because I bet most of them would look REALLY cool and SOUND really cool. It would give them the same life that the modern Final Fantasy characters have. Like, if the games were astounding with MIDI music, 2D, pixelated graphics, imagine how cool they'd be in 3D with real music and voice acting haha.

I do believe on some cover or other of an FF game there is the sillhouette of a warrior with horns pointed sideways. *shrugs*

I am actually interested in this even though I have become quite cynical about Squenix products over the years after the merger.

Too bad I dont plan to get a psp ever. Rockstar ported both Liberty and Vice city stories from the psp to the ps2, I also hope Squenix does the same thing.

To those of you who are actually happy about this, how many of you have actually PLAYED Ehrgeiz?

The system was absolutely terrible. The presence of Sephiroth does not a good game make, people (and I know I'm preaching to the choir on that one), nor does a wide cast of one's favorite characters. I'm glad to see IX resurrected, as it seems to be the only one not to have been remade, made a movie out of, or cameoed in Kingdom Hearts, but that doesn't make the game good either.

So I'm glad this is on a PSP; it puts me under no obligation to buy it. Might sell a bunch of PSPs in Japan though, assuming Lion War didn't already do that.

Sorry for resurrecting this, but I had to throw my two cents in here.

I still own and enjoy Ehrgeiz. Best character is Jojo--her moves are awesome. I think the biggest downfall of that game is the small size of most of the stages.


Because you're under some sor of "obligation" to buy Square games on other systems? If it were on PS2, would you be buying it, then, out of some sort of "obligation?" Start making sense and/or using better discretion is buying games.

I was playing Ehrgeiz when it was in an arcade without Final Fantasy Characters...and I enjoyed it then. (in fact I think you can get it for MAME.) I also enjoyed Tobal No. 1, which used a similar system from the same developer.
It was a generally fun game, and I enjoyed the system for what it was worth, despite not being fully realized or anywhere close to a perfect balanced fighter. My favorite character was, I believe, Lee Shuwen and Han Daehan. Oh, and Ken "Mishima" was hilarious. (Jin Kazama, anyone? ) The FF characters weren't added until SQ decided to publish a port of the arcade game on the psone.

Enough of my ranting about Ehrgeiz. Dissidia doesn't even seem to be made by the same team as Ehrgeiz (which was Dream Factory, also responsible for the Bouncer and Crimson Tears), and seems more reminiscent of anime fighting games than anything else, from my impressions of the trailer. Nothing too exciting...nothing worth buying a PSP for. I'm sure its fun though.

Air-Gays was pretty fun at the time. =p But the movements and the stages could have been smoother. Anyway I don't think this will be anything like Ehrgeiz just because it has Square characters in it.

Seriously, Ergheiz only had like three FF characters and only from FF7. I dont see where all the "OMFG this is like another ergheiz Lolpunch!" is coming from.

It was probably the girl Claire then. I can't remember well. I remember running arround in an adventure like mode and leveling up your character.
Actually she kinda looks like Yuffie so I guess that's why I mixed them up.

Some of the earlier posts had me thinking "3D fighter + made by Square = OMFG Ehrgeiz!" Yeah, that probably wasn't fair.


Your prerogative, then. I have a friend who owns it and every time I'm at his house, I pray that we don't have to play it. I mainly don't like the free run and the turning-around slide, not to mention how cheap Meteorain and Comet-2 are. BTW, Yoyo Yoko pwns all.

Or just stop talking out my ass like I did there. >_< Even if it was on a current gen system I actually own (DS) I probably wouldn't buy it unless I could try it first, and liked it enough to buy. I wouldn't buy without playing like I did for Pokemon or like I will for Dragon Quest IX.

First, a late-ish comment on Ehrgeiz: Cloud, Tifa, and Sephiroth were the original three playable FF7 characters, though Vincent and Yuffie could be unlocked (just by playing through the full arcade mode with Cloud and Tifa, respectively, I believe), as well as Zack. (I forget how Zack gets unlocked.) There was also the unlockable character named Django, who seemed to be more-or-less based on Red XIII. One of his alternate "costumes" was just a red/orange version, making him resemble Red XIII even more, and I believe the names of a handful of his attacks were related to Red XIII.

I've been waiting for an FF-exclusive fighting game for a while now. If it's on the PSP, and gets released in the US, I'm sure I'll be picking it up eventually. I just hope it's a faster-paced kind of fighting game, unlike Ehrgeiz. (I like instant button-attack reactions, thank you.) Whenever I get around to picking up a PSP, I'll have to keep an eye out for this.

Well i will just wait and see how this one turns out!

If it's seem too be a great game,it and FF7:crisis core, my choice if I should or souldn't buy a PSP should be decided!

But so far, this preview didn't get me excited, ice grapic but don't know how playing it will be!

I've been waiting for another FF fighting like this for many years. Finally my wishes are going to come true. I really liked Ehrgeiz because it had FF7 characters and I've been hoping for another release for quite a while. Looks like we waiting is almost over.



It would be better if both forms as Cecil in the game where his paladin form would be his alternate costume.

Some new info:

- Square Enix revealed new details of Dissidia: Final Fantasy for PSP at Jump Festa, it has been regarded as one of the best games in the show.

* Tidus (FFX), Ultimecia (FFVIII) and Emperor (FFII) are playable
* The game features both free roaming 3D combats and one on one combats
* You can lock on to a character with L trigger
* There are two types of attacks, one to drain the "Brave" gauge, and another one to damage the opponent HP
* "Brave" is the strength of your attacks, the more you have the more damage your attacks will be
* The stages have pits and destructible objects, you can perform aerial maneuver near walls, like in FFVII Advent Children
* You can run on the walls and exchange blows with opponents
* You can choose two different combat modes: Standard and Technical
* It is probably possible to customize the characters, as you can earn Gils and APs after each fight.






Interesting that Ultimecia is a playable character. I didn't expect that.

THats AWESOME, im so pumped for this game, i cant wait to see more. Maybe they'll throw in some Crisis Core characters, or who knows, maybe even create soem NEW final fantasy characters

I would purchase a PSP just to play this game along with Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. Hopefully this game will not be a disappointment as it contains my two favorite villains out of all the Final Fantasy games I have beaten. I am so curious to which other Square characters may take part.
