Here it is, the Shaman Fight, where you battle to gain control of the Great Spirit. First think up a character and post here. Then when your character's been approved, post their spirits here as well.

Sounds complicated, but it isn't really. This OOC is also where any comments you have go.

Right, onto the RPG. The rules are simple:

1) No god-modding.
2) No major controlling of other characters. You're allowed to control them for the purposes of a conversation (etc.) though.
3) For every fight in the Shaman Fight you win, your character has the chance to 'learn' a new technique. PM me with the details of the technique you want to learn, I'll OK it, and then put it in your character's spirit info. post.
4) I run this RPG, so my word goes.
5) Break the rules three times and you'll be asked to leave.


Onto less boring stuff. You probably recognize the below diagram. Take into account that when you battle, you can beat a stronger opponent (or lose to a weaker one) by using the Elements to your advantage.



Now we get to the good stuff.

THE SHAMAN FIGHT!

Round 1: Qualifying
To obtain an Oracle Bell/Pager, you must earn one! Lay one hit on a Patch official judge in Oversoul in under ten minutes to enter the Shaman Fight.

You play as your character and the Patch official. You don't get a new technique for beating him, however.

As of today, *Will be announced* you will three weeks, in which you must obtain your Oracle Bell. The rest of the time can be spent pursuing your character’s own personal storyline or interacting with other characters and with your spirits.
On the *Will be announced* the qualifying stage will end, and you will be informed of the details of the next stage of the tournament.

Round 2: Preliminaries
So far there will be no set date for the end of the prelims. If this gets up and running I will set one.

Rules
1) There are three preliminary rounds. You must defeat two opponents to advance.
2) Two losses or forfeits means disqualification, and you'll be stripped of your Oracle Pager.
3) For a match to be valid, both combatants must have their Over Souls engaged.
When a Shaman is unable to sustain his or her Over Soul due to injury, Furyoku depletion, or damage to their channeling medium, he or she will be rules unable to fight and will lose the match.

For each of the three fights you win, you can learn one new move. PM me with the details of it and I'll OK it.

Arrange matches with other RPers' characters, or fight NPCs.

If you win your first two matches, you don't fight a third.

About Furyoku:

As we proceed through the Shaman Tournament everyone will become stronger. During the 3rd round of the Shaman Fights I will give an O.K. to everyone so they can use Giant Spirit Form. If there is any other Spirit Forms you wish to create or add send me a PM. I will read through it and from there I will Ok it or ask you to change it with what ever advice I see fit.

Appearance: Short only about five foot six inches. Wears a plain black t-shirt and ripped blue jeans. Has deep blue eyes and sandy brown hair.
Personality: Shy in front of people but loves to talk to spirits. He keeps a walkman with him because he can't sleep without music. He is a big movie freak and can name off almost any that he has seen.
History: Normal compared to some people. His whole family is shamans so he was raised with spirits near him at all times. He left to compete in the shaman fights for his family honor. He personally doesn't want to become the Shaman King but he wants to support someone that he finds worthy of the title.
Medium: Currently a wakizashi and a knife.

Spirit Appearance: A mid age man, with a tattered robe. He rarely speaks, but when he does it is of great importance.
Medium(s): Wakizashi
Bio: A long dead samurai whose katana was stolen from his grave. On a shortcut one day Koraka met Yojimbo and learned of the theft. Yojimbo decided to come with Koraka so that if he should find the thief he may pay him back.

OverSoul #1 (Yojimbo) Koraka's wakizashi lights up with a furyoku produced flame. The fire reachs up to his shoulder, but can't do anything real special.

OverSoul #2 (?) Koraka's knife becomes wooden and dull. It does not gain any special abilities yet.

OverSoul #3 (Yojimbo & ?) Koraka holds the knife in one hand and the wakizashi in the other. He lights the knife with his furyoku, which makes another wakizashi out of pure furyoku.

Techniques
~~~~~~~~v~~~~~~~~

Fire Slash: While in either oversoul #1 or #3 a hard swing of either wakizashi will unleash a blade of heat. Can't burn through oversouls, unless his furyoku is greater then theirs.

Flash Step: Only in oversoul #3 Koraka moves at a great speed, moving short distances in a blink of any eye. The more furyoku used the faster he can go.

Double Medium: The ability to use more then one spirit with the same medium.
e.g. making a spirit more powerful but using more furyoku at the same time.

Well, here's my character, I'm working on his spirits and will post them once my character gets approved.

Name(Full): Harek-of-the-Bear
Age: 24
Gender: male
Nationality: Inuit

Appearance: A man of impressive build, he is nearly seven feet of pure muscle. His hair is straight, black and long, and he wears it unfettered. His face is covered with a thick beard and moustache, also black. His eyes are a piercing ice blue. He wears a heavy parka and leggings at all times There is a large tattoo of a bear’s head on his chest, visible when he wears the parka unfastened. He wields a sword almost as tall as himself that pokes over his left shoulder, a spear the he has capped in public and uses as a walking stick, and there is a covered hand axe hanging by a leather cord from one hip, with a dagger sheathed on the other.

Personality: Harek is the typical tall silent hulking man, and has only come away from his tribe to participate in the Shaman King battles. He knows English and French in addition to his native language, though he rarely speaks to anyone, in any language. Despite his intimidating presence he is kind to those who do not make themselves his enemies, and is relatively calm. The people who choose to antagonize him, however, are quick to learn fear, as he does not tolerate insults, and has a strong sense of justice.

History: Harek comes from a nomadic tribe in the north of Canada, and comes from a line of warrior-shamans who have been the defenders of his tribe even in these technological days. His family’s particular totem is that of a grizzly bear, and he has been taught that unflagging strength, both physical and mental, is the key to overcoming any obstacle.

Spirit Appearance: An enormous grizzly bear
Medium(s): The tattoo on Harek’s chest
Bio: The ancestral spirit of Harek’s family, thought to be the reincarnated spirit of the first grizzly to be killed by Harek’s family’s patriarch, it’s guidance, strength, and fortitude have been passed from father to son for longer than can be remembered.

Spirit Name: Rage
Spirit Type: Human
Spirit Element: Fire
Spirit Appearance: An impossibly muscular man with flaming red eyes and a perpetual expession of complete anger
Medium(s): Harek’s full blade
Bio: The spirit of the patriarch of another family in Harek’s tribe, one that teaches the power of blind anger over any other emotion or thought. The spirit gave it’s allegiance to Harek after he defeated the current Warrior of that family in single combat, proving that he was the stronger of the two.

Techniques:

Technique Name: Oversoul version.1
Description: Harek calls upon Ursa Major in order to gain increased stamina, allowing him to resist attacks that would stagger lesser men.

Technique Name: Oversoul version.2
Description: Rage grants Harek a measur of strength, allowing Harek to use his full blade and spear more quickly, making his strikes more difficult to avoid.

Technique Name: Inevitable
Description: Harek calls upon the full power of Ursa Major in order to gain the stamina and strength of his totem. He becomes able to use his sword as if it weighs nothing, and normal attacks have almost no effect, even supernaturally powerful assaults do considerably less than they should.

Technique Name: Burning Anger
Description: Harek calls fully upon Rage to gain his strength and single-mindedness. Harek’s strength increases even more than from Inevitable, and his focus and rage become such that he can ignore any but the most grievous wounds. This does not stop him from being harmed in the manner of Inevitable, simply to ignore the pain. In fact, the pure focus on offence actually makes Harek easier to hit. This technique can only be used for a short time, and the amount of energy channeled into his strength exhausts Harek for the rest of the battle, making him less able to fight. This power and Inevitable cannot be used at the same time except when using Ancestral Form (see below).

Technique Name: Ancestral Form
Description: Harek calls upon the combined powers of Ursa Major and Rage to assume the form of a grizzly bear. This technique combines the powers of Inevitable and Burning Anger with the additional effect of Harek changing into a bear with glowing red eyes. He no longer has the reach of his full blade, but he is much faster, much more durable, immensely stronger, and faster in a charge, though when charging it is all but impossible for him to change directions. This technique lasts only no longer than Burning Anger, and uses up almost all of Harek’s foryuka, making him able to fight for a little longer, though he must do so conservatively and with nothing other than his own skill.

Technique Name: Borealis
Description: Harek calls upon Ursa Major’s memory of his frozen homeland and channels that frigid power through himself, essentially sending a raging blizzard through himself at his enemy. The opponent is bombarded by the coldest gale force winds, blinding snow, and shards of ice that rip flesh as easily as they rip through the air. This power drains Harek’s foryuka completely and the freezing power channeled directly through his body tears apart his chest and arms and covers him and his wounds with a near deadly frost, making him unable to battle for at least two weeks, and even then his foryuka is slow to recover, and his physical body is not in much better shape.

Hmm, lets put some thought into this one..

Nationality: USA
Appearance: Dirty(short) Blonde Hair, Ice Blue Eyes, White T-Shirt with a Black Sweathsirt ontop, Black Baggy Jeans. Wears Black Leaher Gloves. White?
Personality: Cheerful, Always wanting to lend a hand to an old lady, or in a fight.
History: Luke never liked his father, or step-father for that matter, and since he was little, he alwways dreamed of moving out. His mothing new, and this didn't bother her for, she only married the new man for finacial reasons. So, this being said, Luke had moved out the day of his 14th birthday. His present from his mother was a pure emerald cross necklace.

Spirit Name: Tug
Spirit Type: Animal
Spirit Element: Unknown
Spirit Appearance: Fat lazy frog that just follows him around, thats it.
Medium(s): Doesn't have one.
Bio: Luke stopped over by a graveyard one day and saw him yelling into a grave, rambling on about something. He walked over to see what the mess was about and the frog (Tug) said that the guy hiding in the grave owed him 10 bucks and dinner. So, to stop the feud, Luke gave him the money tho it served Tug no perpose, and took him out to eat, wich he couldn't do either. It was one of those 'Thought that counts' things however. From that day on, Tug just followed Luke, exchanging comments or critisizing his poor trainning habbits. Hes pretty much useles...

Spirit Name: Herbert Heimersheldenhoff
Spirit Type: Animal
Spirit Element: Metal
Spirit Appearance: Turtle.
Medium(s): Sweatshirt or Leather Gloves.
Bio: Luke, on his way to school, ran into a busy intersection with many spirits walking around. On the ground layed a turtleshell being kicked around and noises coming from it. The Turtle was yelling as the people kicked him out of their way, being Much taller than he is. Luke decided to pick him up and ask him where he needed to go. Now, since the Turtle was frustrated beyond all expectations, came out and bit Luke square on his nose. It realized what it did, and apologized, then told Luke he just wanted to cross the street where it was less busy.
Luke walked him across and placed him down, smiled, and continued to school. On his way home, the turtle remained in the same spot, Luke stopped and asked him why he had not moved. The turtle told him after thinking it through, no one ever had shown him that much kindness nor patience before and wishes to stay with Luke, in return, Luke may use him to help himself in any ways he chooses.

Spirit Name: Gaap, Wrath of the Seven Deadly Sins
Spirit Type: Demon
Spirit Element: None
Spirit Appearance: A figure engulfed in a haze, Luke has never seen his true form.
Medium(s): Lukes' emerald Cross wich then allows Gaap to take over Luke and his body for a substancial amount of time until his furyoku runs low, but not out. His appearance also changes the longer Gaap is out or how angry Luke is prior. Luke returns nomal when the oversoul is gone.
Bio: Gaap has always been with Luke, it was passed down to him at birth. Every Ortho male contains one of the Seven Deadly Sins for good or for worse. The trick is however, once the eight male is born it dies immedietly at birth. No exception. The Sins are cycled down, since Gaap formerly plagued Lukes Grandfather who had been deceased before Lukes birth, it stayed afloat waitting for a new body. Luke.

Oversoul Appearance: Lukes pupils turn deep red, slighlty smirking, his hair grows a little longer, and depending on his mood, his hair is either a slightly darker shade, (or if pissed off), pitch black. The cross Luke wears becomes a tatoo(returns to a necklace when the oversoul is done/gone) His teeth grow sharper, sharpness & length depend on his mood.
Personality: Extremely short fused, never happy, always.. Always wanting to fight. While fused, Luke becomes a spirit and watches what Gaap does, Luke may grow angier even in his spirit shape wich allows Gaap to unleash more furyoku into "himself" wich allows him to "purify" his state. Meaning that a Pure Gaap in Oversoul unleashes and shows his true form, this has never been done in the history of the Ortho family. All the other Sins have done it except for Gaap, the Sin of Wrath.
History: Unkown, simply just passed down to the next child.

Oversoul #1 (Herbert): Sweatshirt Oversoul; Herbert Oversouls with Lukes black sweatshirt, creating a metalic plate of armor, (light as his sweatshirt, dense as metal) protecting Luke from anything seemingly threatening (this also pertains to the hood of the sweatshirt, as it can be a helmet if needed)

Oversoul #2 (Herbert): Leather Gloves; This allows Luke to hit objects or opponents quickly but with the impact like a solid metal bat. This technique doesn't hurt Lukes hand, it (more or less) soften the blows for him, making it less painful for him but a lot mroe painful for the thing on the other end of his fist.

Oversoul #3 (Gaap): Emerald Cross; this burns the cross onto Lukes body, making it seem like a tatoo (the burn doesn't stay after the oversoul is gone..) Gaap is Gaap... hand-to-hand combat, angry.. nothing of this world.

Techniques
~~~~~~~~v~~~~~~~~

Iron Coffin: When Oversouled with Herbert/Sweatshirt, Luke lays down with his hands crossed on his chest, as Herbert expands himself in the shape of a coffin, protecting Luke from all angles.

Big Hitter: Herbert Oversouled into Lukes gloves; Lukes Furyoku expands and takes the shape of a large fist, about one and a half stories tall. This takes a lot out of Luke, but the technique still has the desinty of metal, even if in a furyoku state.

Outbreak: (Gaap Only); Summoning some help from hell, the hands of demons and/or skeletons grab ahold of the opponents ankles. Holding him/her in place.

Misery Loves Company: (Gaap Only); the ground breaks out beneath the opponents feet, opening a passage-way to Hell. If the opponent falls through, not even their spirit will return, they are eatten alive by demons the pull themselves half way through the earth on the sides of the crack in the ground. As the person falls, they are bitten at, scratched at, their screams are horrifying. A last defense attack.

Addicton: (Gaap Only); Happends when he tastes blood, automaticaly. He goes insane and thrives for more, becoming mroe powerful and uses up more furyoku at an alarming rate. This is probably more of a weakness to Luke, the only way for him to regain control over his body is for his Furyoku to run out completely.

Note: Gaap is rarely used and allows Luke to obtain much more furyoku than normal. Luke doesn't know of this and Gaap doesn't tell him. (Gaap really doesn't talk much)
Note #2: Tug is useless besides ridiculing Luke. Thats it.. No oversoul.

Appearance: Allen stands 5'4" and weighs 127lbs. He wears a white suit and bow-tie. He has raven black hair which is always falls in his eyes which are dark green.
Personality: Allen is a cheerful lad. He rarely gets mad. If you would even call it mad. Even during a fight he will be joking around with his opponents or allies. He does cry easily thou.
History: Allen's parents were billionaires in England. One night two men broke in and killed his parents as he was at a friend’s house. The next morning he found out, and started living by himself since then. He usually never tells anyone about his past and would rather put it all behind him then have to remember for the rest of his life. He wants to become Shaman King so he can speak with his parents again and protect everyone.

Spirit Appearance: A watery snake.
Medium(s): All liquid substances.
Bio: A silent snake once believed to be a god.

OverSoul #1 (Beast of Burden) Sand or Dirt covers Allen’s skin in a thin layer. Allen can control dirt to create weapons, walls or creatures. The more complex the creation the more furyoku used.

OverSoul #2 (Quetzalcoatl) A water serpent is summoned up. It wraps around Allen like a scarf, and will grow or shrink with the furyoku put into it. Allen can make creations out of water. The more complex the creation the more furyoku used.

OverSoul #3 (Beast of Burden & Quetzalcoatl) The layer of sand covers Allen, then Quetzalcoatl comes forth and wraps around Allen making the dirt harder and thicker. Allan can control water or dirt and can create mud with furyoku.

Techniques
~~~~~~~~v~~~~~~~~

Dirt Shell: A shell forms around Allen made of dirt. Allen sees out of it but everyone else can't see into it.

Dirt Bomb: Allen can form a destructive bomb made of dirt and furyoku. It then is sent into the ground where it lays in wait for a enemy to step on.

Rain Bringer: Allen forms clouds up. Then starts a downpour. No real effect unless you count stopping a fire.

Water Fall: Only used after Rain Bringer. Allen sends a tsunami at his foes.

Mud Slide: Only used in oversoul #3. Allen first uses Rain Bringer. Then Dirt Bomb and Water Fall together. It creates a large wave of Mud mixed with Dirt Bombs in it.
