Chris Ayres is directing the english version of this and he showed ep.1 at a con I went to recently and it looked pretty good from what I saw of it. They kept most of it like the game, but with changes to the story line. If you have seen the animation and played through at least the first volume, you'll see the changes. I just want to know what people think about the animation. I think the first volume comes out in Sept.(I the States)

I myself haven't seen the anime though. I've played through most of the first game but had to stop. I think I was almost done with the game too...But it would be interesting I think to see what they did as far as this Animation of Xenosaga. When I would get around to watching it however, I have no idea...But it'd be interesting to watch none-the-less, I suppose...

The only thing about the English version that slightly interests me is how chaos' new voice will sound. The voice actor's name didn't sound familiar to me, so I don't know what to expect from him. So far I haven't really liked either of chaos' voices, so maybe this will be a better one. Then again, we're talking about English anime dubbing here, so I'm not expecting much at all.

Ya, you can't really expect much from English dubbing now a days. Anyways, Chris tried to get people who kind of sounded like the characters in the game, so probably he would sound like chaos' voice.

And don't dis the English dubbing. These days its leaps and bounds ahead of the #### VHS dubbing of the early nineties. Watch FMA, or GintS with dubs, and you'll hear some quality stuff. Though, I doubt it's GintS style, because Richard Epcar would come back, lol.

They'll probably go for the warm, deep voice with chaos; it matches his calm personality better (unlike the original voice, which made him sound overly happy).

And well, I do hope the English dubbing will be at least decent. But I'm not getting my hopes up (the Kirschwasser will probably have a squeeky, high pitched voice <<'' ).

She did? I don't remember, but most females sound high pitched with Japanese voice acting (I wonder what gives? <<'' ). But MOMO for example doesn't have a high pitched voice in Episode II & III (in the English version, can't speak for the Japanese one). I'd rather hear a voice similar to that one in the anime than the squeeky, high-pitched voice that I love to hate...

As long as they don't screw over Albedo's voice, I'll watch the dub. Already saw the sub =)

I actually caught the English dub on TV yesterday. If you care to watch it, it's on Anime Network on Demand (on the CUtting Edge channel) if you got Road Runner.

I was actually on the phone most of te time when it was on, so all of the voice acting other than Shion/Allen/KOS MOS in the Encephalon and Cherenkov/Marguilis I missed.

I will not that Cherenkov mispronounced Margulis's name.

Newtype-USA had the first episode of this on their DVD this month. It was... okay, I guess. I don't know if I like some of the character design changes. Virgil in particular just looks sort of off.

Oh, and not having Crispan Freeman voice Albedo=fail.

Crispin is a busy man I imagine.
Considering the general low budgetness of the anime in the first place, it's to be expected.
Albedo = generic villain voice in English version.

Character designs are terrible. Look at all their noses. Really. And Virgil, who was rather small for a man is now pretty big, as is Allen.

But Ziggy has a non robotic crotch now.

I still haven't heard the new voices, but that's because I can't find the English dub anywhere yet. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer... not that I'm looking forward to it or anything. I'm just anxious to hear how those voices sound. It can't be worse than hispanic Allen, can it? <<''

No, the dubbing doesn't suck Xerno, it's average. Some voices will be a bit off for you if you play the game, but looking at it objectively, it's fine, at least of everyone that shows up in the first episode.

In the interview it says Kevin's voice actor is the same. Since he had three, one for every game, I donno which one it is. The third was one atrocious though.

They're most likely subbed, the ones I've watched were. But now I just want to find the dubbed version to hear the English voice acting.

Hm, so Kevin's voice is the same as one of his 3 voices from the game? I hope it's the first one, he made Kevin sound kind and gentle. His third voice is filled with arrogance (which I guess isn't completely unbefitting, given that he can be quite arrogant).

The second episode came out, and I saw it, and there's nothing new. Shion's voice actress can't do the emotional sad scenes without sounding awkward, but then I've thought that about most anime voices, japanese or otherwise, so I donno.

I can't even remember how far into the anime I got, I know I watched quite a few episodes and saw up to the point where they dive into KOS-MOS sub-conscience but I lost interest. I'd be interested to hear the English dubs... especially chaos, who I think was never quite the same since they lost the first voice actor. He was cheerful, but at the same time almost creepy sounding, the kind of person who is hiding something.

The DS game follows the anime a little, but the DS game managed to fill in all the parts it missed with optional back stories that you could watch.

I'm personally a little confused as to why they have decided to dub the Xenosaga Animation... unless they are planning to do a second series for episode 2?

Actually, I forgot that the second episode introduced the Elsa crew, plus chaos.
Since I wasn't really all that interested in it, I didn't even take note. But actually, chaos was good, looking at it now. Considering he neither had the broodiness of Episode 2 or the helium of Episode 1, he was quite alright.

Hammer and Tony are spot on, but the captain's voice I think is not rough enough.

Yeah. Decently. Though Matthew's voice sounds off track, and Shion sounds way too much like a school teacher.

Decently? Darn, I really need to find those dubbed episodes. I can't deny that I'm anxious to hear the English voices, and even less that my expectations are very low despite others saying it's decent. Guess I'll have to see (and hear) it for myself...

Ah crap, and I asked for it for christmas besides Hellsing. Oh well, needed to add more to my Xeno collection and I still need to get the Perfect Works book. Maybe if I give enough by the 26th....then, so any one got any NON-ebay pricings of it?
