As a great Final Fantasy fan, I'd like to play every game. I'm working on III now, via an NES emulator. When I finish that, which should be pretty soon, I'll only have XI left.

But I'm kind of conflicted about XI. I've never played an MMO before, and I'm not sure I want to, mostly because they never really end.

And there is that monthly fee.

So, a bunch of questions: Should I play? How long does it take to complete? Should I play on PC or PS2? (don't do that Xbox thing) Will the server matter at all? Any advice on what race or job to be?

Well if you look at Sun Quan, it takes approximately 6+ years to finish.

I've never played the game myself, but I don't think you're missing out on much. And if you are, well then I wouldn't put myself through the effort of investing so many hours into the game. MMO's usually take a very long time to finish because it's not really based on the story of the game but when you feel satisfied with it.

If you playing for the story, it's not worth it, if you're playing for the characters, it's even less worth!
ok it's not that bad, but close!

FFXI doesn't feel alot like FF in my opinion!

I recommend PC and you can play on the free trail-month you get with the game! that way you only have to pay for the game! even though a month may not always give a complete responce to how the (vast) game is, it's should giv you a good hunch!

its not really like an rpg. Its just like any other online mmo. You get ur character and you kill stuff, do quests, that kinda stuff. The only difference is this game is probably the biggest pain in the ass for time consumption and failure at lol
