Well, for some reason this seems to be a reoccuring problem when people post in this forum... lol
But since there are seven games in the .hack series it might help if you mentioned which game you are refering to?

Ah, well I just got the game and haven't played it yet, but from what I heard that must be the 100 floor tower. Check out the BBS boards and do all the Abyss quests. Once you've done that you'll get an e-mail from CC corp giving you the words and saying that the Forest is open.
It works the same way as the optional bosses in the previous two games.

you go into the main community forum and you'll see a post with an exclamation point next to it click it and ask for the area words then log in then out again get the area words and go to them after completing that go back the fourm and another post will have an ! saying something aobut the abyss quest go to it ask for the arae words again then go to it and do the event leave and you will have an email from cc corp saying something about the forest of pain event and you'll get the area words and something from tabby
I hope that helps you out

I've got some ?'s regarding the forest of pain as well.
1) Do you have to beat the abyss quests in the first 2 games to unlock the forest of pain?
2) I still haven't recieved an e-mail and nothing is on the boards about it. So do I probably have to go back and do all three games over again?
3) How do I fight the dopplegangers? I've beat the 3rd game and I never came across dopplegangers except in the final fight. but I beat them and I never unlocked shadow and the other 2.
Thank you for any help on any of these ?'s that anybody can provide.

1.) Quite possibly, since it's a continuation of the previous Abyss quest from the last games. But I'm not 100% sure, sorry. I do however know for certain that you cannot do it unless you do the other Abyss related quests in vol 3 however.
3.) You can fight him two times. Once before you beat the game. And the second time after. I'm not sure if he won't appear after you beat the game if you didn't face him the first time.
But stand still in a field (preferably one that has the keyword Moonlight because he appears close to the beginning in those usually) and don't engage any enemies for about 10 minutes. After that move arround the field looking for him, but avoid engaging enemies. You can use the bikes hit and run effect to avoid enemies.

Abyss Quests? Would that happen to be like the One Sin event from volume 2? Because I may have missed the Abyss Quest in the first one.

The Abyss Quests are:
1.) The fight with Cerraunos in Vol. 1 (Please note that you may have to check the "The World" forum because there are a few areas where you must complete first.)
2.) The One Sin event.
3.) The Forest of Pain is a Lost Ground (Hidden Forbidden Sin Realm)
In which there are 100 floors, and it is of course a forest dungeon. You will get the keywords in an e-mail from CC Corp. After you go to a few dungeons first of course. I don't remember the dungeons. You''l have to check the forums in the game.)

Ugh. 100 floors?
How could that be fun?
I don't comprehend pointless bonus dungeons in RPGs.
Atoli-chan
Jun 18 2008, 05:31 AM
It's not pointless.
a.) You have to do this to unlock all your party members
b.) When you beat it, you get an epilouge to the story
c.) You get the BEST Dual Gun weapons for completeing it.

Well it's not that bad. On every 10th floor or so, there's a boss fight. You could just equip a stealth item and ignore all regular fights if you wish. And after each boss theres a checkpoint so that you can teleport back to that floor again rather than going through it all again if you leave.
As Atoli-chan mentioned, completing it gives you a few more playable characters, you get to see the true ending to the game, and you get some good items including Haseo's best gun. You also get a special greeting card that lets you see special wedding or friendship endings between Haseo and a character of your choice. (But their affection level has to be at max)

Well, I'm done for. I didn't get to do volume One's Abyss Quest. can you still do it?
Also, Does the Steam Door that won't take chims start the forest of pain event?

Possibly. What was the name of the area?

That is the starting for the Forest of Pain quest. There are more than one of those areas after you visit the first one.

Ah. I haven't gotten the keywords yet, i only just replied to the forum post on the game a while ago.

Jun 18 2008, 06:37 PM
Remember to give the correct reply. I believe you should always ask for the keywords. (Unless I'm mistaken)
DragonsVenom
Jun 18 2008, 06:45 PM
Regardless of the reply, they add in the keywords with their response, from what I remember. Just to be safe, I'd still ask for the keywords though.
(I'm not playing right now, otherwise I'd check.)

Just be ready to endure a grueling 4-6 hour tread through a herendous dungeon full of high level monsters and bosses.
Or not.
My advice is to get an item called Demon Safe Shoes. It has an ability called "No Encounter" which is wonderful if you want to avoid all the other battles besides bosses. (You can't skip bosses.)

Complete the "Last Salute of the Goblins" quest.
I also like to have shoes that increases your running speed to get through dungeons faster.

To Athrun: I think the material is called Gudo Oil.
Athrun
Jun 20 2008, 06:51 PM
Oh I wasn't asking how to get them. Just pointing out that I like to use them in dungeons. But it might be good to kmow in case someone else wants them.
Atoli-chan
Jun 20 2008, 06:55 PM
Ok. And I don't use the Demon Safe Shoes, I don't even own them. I actually got lucky and on a random treasure run, I got it from the Beast Statue. The item I got was Fast Train Clogs. I didn't write the area words down though.

Which is why it's easier to get the Demon Safe Shoes.
Athrun
Jun 20 2008, 07:01 PM
If I want to avoid enemies I use the Demon Safe Shoes because it not only makes you invisible, but also increases your running speed by 25%. But if I only want to run fast I use an accessory I made myself that has both Speed + 25% and Speed + 10% on it, and then I cast Ap Do (Increase movement speed by 50%) on Haseo. Which makes it a total of 85% faster. Good for getting through dungeons faster.

Only way to. I guess I have to scout random dungeons to get Demon Speed Shoes, seeing as I already finished the goblin quests in Breg Epona.

Jun 20 2008, 07:37 PM
Atoli and Shino have the spell...
And Yata has the upgraded Party Spell for it. They're one of my favorites... haha. One of the many reasons I love having Yata in my party...
I haven't found the upgrade component for Speed +25%, but once I do, I plan to use that all the time. One of the only stat/status increasing items I use are Speed Charms...

Ummm. The only way you can get those Shoes is by the Goblins. But if you have an accessory with the prefix "Fast" it'll have the No Encounter effect. (I'm to lazy to get the material name.)

As DragonsVenom mentioned, Atoli and Shino learn that spell. If you use it along with a 35% movement speed accessory, you'll run insanely fast. I always use that accessory when I'm in towns, even if you can't use spells there.

I have the materials, and the equipment to make them. Just a question though:
If I have a material that boosts morale (By 1.25) who should I give it too? I'm thinking Pi.
Pi's Morale Boost and Endrance's Quick Rengeki Ability will make leveling up the Avatar Awakening alot easier.

Or Jet-Speed thingy.
Kuhn has a First type weapon with it in his Inventory that you can trade for. It's just an upgraded Quick Charge.
Endrance's lost weapon lvl 5 has it on it as well...
What's the material name for the Speed +25%?
