Okay well, all the mangas/animes I've watched are basically all done. And I need some advice for what to watch/read next. Anime's I've seen actively (from favorite to least favorite)

1. Wolf's Rain
2. Full Metal Alchemist
3. Rurouni Kenshin
4. Death Note
5. Bleach

I like more serious animes. Like, I don't mind some jokes and silliness and stuff (Kenshin and FMA would interject it here and there), but I'm not a big fan of cutsie or corny animes. I also like ones that aren't necessarily Sci-Fi based (Cowboy Bebop was ok but not rlly my style, same with Eureka 7.)

Anybody have any tips??

Gundam SEED (Not Gundam SEED Destiny) is highly recommended if you want a serious and intriguing story that will really make you think. It has a lot of good and memorable characters, and quite wonderful music as well. (See-Saw does some music for it.) But try to find the subs rather than the dubs.
Everyone I know who got to watch it really liked it. No need to be a fan of mechas to enjoy it either.
Oh and it doesnt hurt that the story has some similarities to Suikoden 2. Mainly the story between Riou and Jowy.

Full Metal Panic is one of my favorite animes as well. The second season was purely comedy while the first one was more like FMA you could say. Mostly serious with some parts of comedy thrown in.
Noir
Gundam 0083
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Ghost in the Shell: Stand 2nd Gig
Trinity Blood
Ergo Proxy
Hellsing

All great, if you need more feel free to ask.

Beck: Mongolian chop squad - amazing. it's about music tho and real life

fate/stay night - also amazing. lots of action

Mushi-shi - could be the best anime out atm. very, very intriguing.

I saw an anime called Elfin Lied just recently, and that was pretty good, a little tragic but I usually like that in anime. And I know they've been mentioned, but Gundam SEED and Trinity Blood are good, Gundam SEED in particular, lots of issues in that. There's also Black Cat, which is part serious part comedy, but neither one really over powers the other.
LagunaWannabe
Gundam SEED and Full Metal Panic seem like 2 good ones, I'll look into those ones more, thanks a lot for the tips though you guys!

A few of these were already mentioned, but I'd also recommend them.

Elfen Lied: Psychological horror/drama. Lots of blood, and a bit of nudity. 13 episodes, plus an OVA.

Ergo Proxy: Cyberpunk/horror/mystery. (So says Wiki.) I recently watched this, and definitely give it a huge recommendation. 23 episodes.

Fate/stay night: Action/drama/fantasy/supernatural. Personally, I definitely support this recommendation. If you're into mythology, you'll likely dig this. (And even if you're not. It's good either way, I think.) 24 episodes.

Paranoia Agent: Mystery/paranormal/psychological/drama/horror/thriller/black comedy. Really frickin' weird (as to be expected from Satoshi Kon), but good. The last two episodes are simply insane. 13 episodes.

Serial Experiments Lain: Cyberpunk/drama/mystery/psychological/science fiction. A good one to screw with your head. If you can keep up with it, it's great. 13 episodes.

If you want a movie to check out, I'd say try Paprika. Another strange (but good nonetheless) one by Satoshi Kon.

As for "sub or dub," I've only seen most of these subbed, though I'd say Ergo Proxy's got a pretty great dub. (Plus, Vincent is voiced by Liam O'Brien, so maybe I'm slightly biased. ^^; ) Hm... All of the animes should be available both subbed and dubbed, though, so it's up to you, and what you can find. Paprika, I believe you'll only find subbed, though.

The only Gundam-version I approve so far is "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing" and I really recommend this, while "Gundam SEED" is the worst if you ask me!

Shura No Toki: like Rurouni Kenshin but realistic characters and battles (almost) and the main character is pure fighter, best fighting anime I've seen yet!

If you want another fighter-anime and don't mind them using, well "Naruto-like-chi" then i recommend "Hunter X Hunter" even if the sillynes/jokes are about the same amoud as in FMA and Rurouni Kenshin

A lil' late to reply but try hrm. . . .
Saikano if you haven't already watched it or read it for that matter.
Other than that, you can't go wrong with the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga, though you're gonna have to wait for vol. 11. It's still in production or out in Japan already but not overseas.
True Rune
Elfen Lied has it's cutesy-wootsey hippy skippy moments too. It's really that and a bunch of pointless killing. (+Child nudity, though i'd hope you are not into that sort of thing...)
LagunaWannabe
haha damn elfen lied sounds ridiculous

im basically satisfied tho, I wento ut and bout Persona 3, which is like an anime in itself, so Ive become incredibly content with my thirst for something new hha

WEll, Anime? I don't watch lots of anime but seeing your list of Anime I can see your taste, so I'm gonna reccomend some of good anime I've seen.

Baccano :
I like the novel better, but the anime is great too, I mean if you like stories with multiple plot and some action. A newish anime, only plotted for 13 eps though.

Darker than Black :
Another action anime. I don't know if you will like this, but the story is certainly awesome, including talking cat, body switching and some cool action with good sense of comedy.

Manga:

Mirai Nikki (future diary):
A diary that can change the future. An action manga about a boy and his stalker fighting in some dangerous tournament to be a God. The art is nice and the story is interesting to begin with.
FaytLeingod
whats a good site to watch all the gundam seed episodes? i only found up to 5.
Astriel
Try Gantz.
The anime for 26 eps.
The manga is long running (still going), I lost track after stopping reading them.
It's a personal favourite of mine. Seinen, not shonen.

If you like Rurouni Kenshin try Samurai Champloo. It's like [insert crazily massive number]xmoreexciting and the artwork is beautiful with a surprisingly (I'm not a great fan of hip-hop) good soundtrack.
Apple_Juice
how many episode are there in gundam seed? i also need some anie tips.

i see wat u did thar.

Seriously though, pick any Gundam (G Gundam and Gundam Seed Destiny excluded), and you're going to have a much better and more intriguing story (that isn't necessarily ripping off an old movie from the late 90s), as well as great characters and music. Plus, a good amount of them actually have decent dubs. (See: Gundam, Gundam 8th MS Team, Gundam 0079, Gundam 0083, Gundam X, Gundam Wing, and really everything else. Though I've yet to watch Gundam 00)

Gantz, as previously suggested, is a great anime with an awesome plot and beautiful art. Orphen is a lot of fun to watch, but seeing as how I haven't seen in in so long I'll reserve my comments on the story and art and whatnot. Soul Taker was a lot of fun as well, though a bit complex. And Zoids is always a classic, haha. You might enjoy the Samurai X OAVs. It's basically Ruroni Kenshin minus the absolute suckitude. Oh, and there's always Rah Xephan. It's basically Evangelion done properly. Way cool.
