Okay, I am in no way saying that there's any plan for a Final Fantasy 8 sequel, remake, or movie, but if there WAS, what would you like the continuing plot to be??
Personally, I'd love to see the characters explored even more in depth. I think Rinoa and Squall's relationship was the best I've seein in ANY FF by far, and most likely in any video game I've played. The concept of him being her knight forever, and how over time she changed him (and we could see a DEFINITE change), his journey to become a hero for everyone, I LOVED it.
I'd want to see Zell expanded upon more, because he comes off as kind of flat, but he's actually got a lot of sentiment behind him. He wants to become a hero like his grandfather was, and I don't think he really got to show that in FF8. I also love how Irvine has that deeper side to him, I'd love to see him with Selphie after the game.
QuistisxSeifer is a cliche pairring but I'd love to see something like that too, especially since Seifer has also changed a lot through the game. I'd also like to see a fierce competitive rivalry between himself and Squall too, but with there being a mutual respect there for each other.
I'd also like to see Laguna and Squall as well, because Laguna's Squall's father and all. I'd want to learn more about Laguna's past, possibly more on how he defeated Adel in the sorceress war.
Plotwise, I'd love to see Rinoa start to show more signs of a sorceress, and how Squall still protects her and helps her and brings her back down to reality (Like Ferid and Arshtat from Suik5). I'd like to see more upon Ultemecia's past as a bad guy and how she created the Time Compressed World (Because that was pretty empty in the game). I'd also like to see more civil war too, and tensions between nations. There aren't many big cities in FF8 besides Esthar (Balamb is small, Timber is decent, Galbadia is decently populated), but I'd love to see like, the development of cities and nations and how Squall and the others influnce it.
Throw in civil wars, some of the sorceress, a love story, lots of action, deeper past of characters, and plot twists and I'd say we have a better storyline than Final Fantasy Tactics and even that of some of the Suikodens. I'd love to see a sequel/remake of this game, absolutely. It's not like there isn't things that couldn't be explored and expanded upon because there's TONSSS of things and ways they could run with it.

Well, rather than all those spin offs, sequel and other junk coming for Final Fantasy VII, I'd rather see Final Fantasy VIII and IX getting some light as well.
Both games a my favourite Final Fantasy games and it would be nice if Square showed that they cared about those games as well.
Both games have potential of having a spin off, or a sequel, because there is enough things that can be done with both stories and characters.

OH, I would really love any kind of sequal to FF8 <3
but still hesitating, what happens if they mess it up, and ruin all my imaginations of the game!!!
I thought the same thing when sequals to FF7 was discussed!

No but I have no clue what they would do, I mean SEED became useless once they completed their goal.

Personally, I think FF VIII ended pretty well, and not leaving much open for a sequel. However, if it could be done, I would love to see a sequel or something.
I remember reading this awesome fan-fic for FF VIII years ago, though I lost track of it over time. ;_; Anyway, one thing in it that I found really interesting was that they brought up the thing between Rinoa and Seifer. (If memory serves me right, they used to be a pair, or something, didn't they? Like, sometime before the game took place?) If a sequel or something were made, I'd like to see something about that brought up.
In my opinion, if a sequel of some sort were made, I could picture a very casual setting. Like, what it'd be like being a member of SeeD, or even just a student at Balamb Garden, in times of peace. Of course, that'd probably make a kind of lame story for a game or whatever, but I think it'd be interesting, and could probably be done in a way that could maintain the player's/viewer's interest. Or, hey, maybe the game could start off like that (moreso than the original game did it), and then eventually reveal some sort of new threat. (Vague, I know, but I figure it's something that could work.)
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure how a sequel would go, but I'd love to see it done.

I believe that it would be more probable to have a spin-off than a sequel since, in my opinion, FF8 ended pretty well and, like Arashika said, SEED became useless in the end so Squall and the rest would return to their normal lives has studens or teachers, etc.
So I believe that a spin-off of what hapenned before FF8 or about another squad from another garden during FF8 would be more fitting!!!

After very little thought, I have decided what the FFVIII sequel would be like.
In the distant future, Ultimecia (sp?) has been defeated, and her powers have been passed on. The new Sorceress arises and does bad stuff, and people have to stop her! Then, they find out that they are related to Squall and company, and fight her, and win!

Bingo.
And the fact that Seed is eliminated doesn't really matter, I'm sure there are still a few sorceresses from the Time Compressed world, and Rinoa still has the sorceress abilities inside her. So I mean, they could always reassemble SeeD in a time of need. And you definitely don't need SeeD to continue in a sequel anyways. There are plenty of directions you could get with the characters that wouldnt need SeeD.

No ##### Pes, English is my FIRST language. And saying "Anything can be done with story" is not the same thing as what YOU want to see as a story. THAT's the bloody sentance. I made this topic so people could brainstorm new plotlines and what they'd want to see continued. Not whether or not there was a potential for it to happen.

Rinoa is Ultimecia.

Anyhow, I did feel that a lot of the characters in the game, Selfie, Irvine, Zell, Quistis, those 4, could have been easily disregarded since the whole meat of the story was Squall and Rinoa. The other 4 were kind of dropped after disc 2 and that was really annoying to me.

I haven't had the priveledge to fully play FF6 yet, but, I would tend to think that they'd make a FF8 sequel before FF6, not because it necessarily be better, but becuase it'd get more recognition.
FF8 came out sooner than FF6, so fans would be more familiar with it, especially because 6 came out in 1994, and Anthology came out in 1999. And although the anthology made the greatest hits list, FF8 is better well known amongst GENERAL fans because it came out after the huge boom of Final Fantasy 7.
Not saying 6 isnt better, and I'm sure many FF Gurus think 6 is better than 8, but 8 is newer and had more appeal to fans especially with its new graphics compared to the PS1 graphics of FF6.
Like, FF6 is part of the "oldschool" Final Fantasy class that hasn't gotten much recognition worldwide before FF7 (And you can try to refute me on this point, but Final Fantasy was DEFINITELY more popular after 7 came out than before, I dont care what anyone's opinion is). It's like asking for a FF4 or FF5 sequel. It just didn't get enough popular recognition worldwide to do it again.

How do you figure? FF6 is one of the more recognized titles in the series, especially by older fans. I sort of get what you're saying, but I want to say that 6 would be a more widely received title to have a sequel to. I could be wrong though.
Also I recommend playing 6 in its full form very soon... It's my favorite in the series. I recommend the GBA version as they added a bit and reworked some of the text and what have you in the game.

Anything with Nomura involved is more likely to get a sequel than things non-Nomura. He's a crazy bastard like that.
As well, FF8 is more sequellable, not because it would "get more recognition," but FF6 seemed to wrap up so well that a sequel would be like "What the hell?" In FF8, I dunno, I could picture Square finding an excuse for those characters to stumble into adventure together again. (Not saying it's at all liekly, but doable.)
Finally, I think most fans of FF6 would be wary, if not wholly opposed to the idea pf an FFVI-2. A PS4 remake on the other hand....

Yeah it's all wrapped up... But it's not like a sequel needs to begin where the last one took off. Many movies/games can show you that.
