QUOTE
Doctors in India have successfully operated on a 2-year-old girl born with four arms, four legs and extra internal organs, doctors said today.

A team of around 30 medics removed what amounted to Lakshmi Tatma's headless identical twin sister who was joined at the pelvis and who did not develop and separate properly in the womb - an extremely rare case.

"It went very well," said Mamta Patil, a doctor involved in the surgery at Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore in south India. "She'll be in intensive care for the next 48 hours."

I think it was rather brave of the parents to help the daughter, even if they thought she was a reincarnation of Vishnu. That's the kind of religious people I look up to - They care more about their family and friends than pleasing their deities =)

I'm happy for her, both that her surgery was succesful and that she has parents that puts priority to their daughter's life rather then religion!

I hope she just doesn't get problem from the people that opposed the surgery or other fanatics.

Yeah I saw the article on CNN, that's absolutely crazy. I cant imagine even being that young with a "deformity" like that. Can you imagine what a story that'd make when you're older?? lol
gelmar
wow! I have never heard of such a case before. I'm glad the surgery was succesful. At least, the girl won't have any traumas and health problems when she gets older. And she won't remember anything from this period.
LagunaWannabe
Ehhh somehow I don't think it's that simple. Did you see the bone structure of her hips and legs?? I be there's gonna be some SERIOUS growing pains or major arthritis. Yeah the limbs may have been removed successfully, and they've positioned the other joints nicely now, but as her body grows and she walks now, who knows what might happen. I doubt her body is completely identical to a normal person.

That one picture was just priceless. Spidergirl is real!
Brahma
I just hope the recovery goes well... she's gonna have one tough life ahead of her!!!
Miss Luna
Oh my gosh... this is real... I figured this was one of those Bat Boy type stories...

Anyway, I'm so glad she's okay!

am i the only one that thinks it would be rad if her parents dressed her up like a spider for Halloween?

wow, that was horrible...

im not trying to be mean or religion..ist? well, anyway, im not hating the believe of some people, but right when i saw that on the news, i thought to myself "she looks like that god with like 4 arms, but with out the extra legs."

again, i tryed to say that as meanless as possible.
Hugo
the fact that she was born on the day they celebrate that god is kind of nuts. Perhaps there is something to it? who knows. Maybe Vishnu will appear and strike her mother down for her insolence in altering the girl's form. tongue.gif kidding, hope it helps the kid, and it's good to see doctors do something without having to be paid and extraordinary amount.
Tifa
I am glad that the girl is ok. I saw the report on CNN and wa stunned.
I wonder what caused it... Drugs maybe?
Logain
It was a headless conjoined twin. Sounds creepy, but she had like four spleens and 12 kidneys.

Ha! What is up with Indian babies and being deformed? I don't remember when, but a little while ago there was an Indian baby born with a tail(elongated spine) and they made him like a baby king (I think) because they thought he was a re-incarnation of one of their Gods.
Logain
I'm sure there are deformed babies everywhere. We only hear about the ones in India because they confuse their deformed babies for one of their gods.
