SCEA has released the original Wild ARMs on its North American PSN Store for the PlayStation 3. Originally released in late 1996 in Japan, Wild ARMs was one of the first successful RPGs for Sony's first console. Wild ARMs is available for $5.99 USD and is playable both on the PS3 and the PSP.

So. For those who own a PS3 now have the ability, if never in the past, to play the old original version.

Awesome that it's on the US PSN as well. (Hope it comes to Europe soon, but we still haven't even gotten Castlevania:SOTN on our PSN here.)
I think Japan even has Wild Arms 2 now.

That's cool I hope they get it on the Euro PSN soon. The US store is much better than the crap we get mad.gif

Distorted_Reality
Awesome! I'm going to buy it right away.

lol, is it really so different from Wild Arms: Alter Code F? hhahh, id rather just play the remake

Playing “the original” has its appeal I suppose. Though, since I don’t have a PS3, I’d just go for ACF unless I could find the actual original for the PSX reasonably cheap...Good news though for PS3 owners who haven’t played the original, or maybe even for those who have played it, but just don’t have the game anymore >.>

This will be a good news for me in about 2-3 years later. I already own the original and WA:ACF but nevertheless I will not own psx and ps2 forever so that information will come in handy later. In any case thats a mighty fine game, both original and the remake.

main differences:
in the original, you only play as Rudy, Jack, and Cecelia. in ACF, you can play as Calamity Jane, Prof. Emma, and even Zed.
in the original, they had four Force Skills, with the fourth usually being a "dual" skill. in ACF, each character only has ONE force skill. (which, imo, is ##### lame.)
in the original, Jack and Rudy could summon (you equipped Mediums) and they had atleast a dozen tech/ammo skills. [TWIN ORBS ftw!!]. in ACF, only Cecelia could summon and Jack and Rudy only had a handful of tech/ammo skills (NO TWIN ORBS!!! mad.gif )

in the original, you had a couple dozen Mediums to find, a few of which were pointless. in ACF, several mediums were dropped entirely (and one Guardian was even killed); and of the ones that made the cut, some were changed for the better, others for the worse. wtf is up with Raftina only restoring Cecelia's MP?!?
in the original, to revive Elmina- all you needed was the Dispellado and getting the sequence right. in ACF, you had to use your tools to expose the pillars than use the Dispellado, then fight a boss, before you could revive Elmina.

all in all, downloading the original is well worth it. mainly because it's a different experience from the remake.

The Remake sucked. Point and simple, they ruined an amazing game.

The original is amazing and I am happy to own the original.
The Evil Dead
Worst game ever. I mean I'm glad there's another title on the PSN but there's about a dozen other RPG's I'd rather have available to purchase.
Rubedo
Oh nice, but I wished it was 2 instead of 1. All there's left is to get PSN to included Metal Gear Solid on there along with some other titles I fail to name at the moment.
Pesmerga
Interesting to see that this game has been placed on PSN.
Though, with my limited experience in Wild Arms (I only played Wild Arms 3, to about 60%), I can't say much about the series.
I just want to try this game.
Maybe it will be on the European server, once I have my PS3, which will be in a few months, probably.
Mushroom
It hasn't showed up for us here in the uk >_< i hope it does eventually though, it would be ana wesome download.
