Reportedly, Microsoft is following in the footsteps of Sony and Nintendo and plans on marketing a motion-sensing controller for the 360.

The skinny comes from Xboxfamily.com, who reports: "Xbox 360 owners can expect to be playing motion sensing games, much like that of the Wii or PS3, by the end of next year."

The first-person add-on to the 360 is supposedly coming from Saratoga, California firm Gyration, the company responsible for the prototype designs of the Nintendo Wii-mote, and creating motion-sensing remote for Microsoft's Media Center. - G4TV

Not surprising, though sad that Microsoft has become a copycat. Motion sensing controllers are useless for any console but the Wii right now. Thoughts?

Its silly. The Wii has it and it was succesful but that doesnt mean that all consoles should have it. I prefer good old still controller for my games.

Been in the rumor mill for quite some time. ##### it. I love that Microsoft's controller doesn't have motion sensing and the only thing I hate about it is the rumble, which is a very minor annoyance.

DO NOT MAKE MOTION SENSING CONTROLLERS. PLEASE. THEY'RE JUST 3D MOUSE PERIPHERALS AND ANNOYING AS HELL.

Meh. I don't care much either way. I didn't buy a Wii because I can't be bohered with motion sensing to that extent, the PS3 games i've playe which have it (eg. Uncharted) and nice little but ultimately pointless touches, I can't see the 360 brings much else to the table with it. It made sense with the Wii if you're into that kind of thing, now its some weird fad. *shrugs* rumble in the last generation, motion sensing in this, what next?

I wouldn't necessarily say it's copying anything, given that motion sensing has been around for ages before the Wii. I guess it would be pretty pointless though. Leave the controller-waving to Nintendo's gimick console. 360 games are fine as is, and I can't imagine any tilt functions or motion sensing doing much good.
