Hi all. Happy New Year to all.

After finishing my Death Note boxset, i am itching for some more japanimation, I have all Urotsukidoji DVD's, Streetfighter series and movies, Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll movie and series, and am wondering what other series or movies out there would fill my need for, violence, blood, great humour, and the usual japanese charm that i have enjoyed in all my other movies/series.
If anyone has any suggestions please dont hesitate to let me know.

Many thanks
David

This wouldn't quite fulfill that "violence, blood" part (other than some particular scenes), but I'd certainly recommend checking out Eureka Seven. On top of just being a great series, the box sets are awesome. The volume 1 box includes the first DVD, the first manga, a t-shirt, and the first soundtrack. Buying each of those individually could be pricey, but the box offers it all for a pretty reasonable price. Not every DVD has a box set, but about every other one or so does, and each includes the DVD, a manga, and a t-shirt. As for soundtracks, the first OST is in the volume 1 box, the second OST is in the volume 7 box, and... I'm not sure if the other thing is included in any of them. You do get both of the OST's, though. In later volumes' boxes, other nifty things are included.

I'm not sure how the prices may be in the UK, but try checking out the UK Amazon site. I've been getting most of my Eureka Seven on the US Amazon site for pretty damn cheap and in great condition (used).

Ok well as far as anime goes I'd definitely say to try out the samurai X OVA movies, great series of animations they're an instant classic for me.

As for series since your looking more for the violent/bloody anime, some good titles are Berserk, Elfen lied, Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Ghost in The Shell (Series and Movies), Noir and Gungrave to name some good ones

For Manga I'd say read the Berserk Manga as it's just about 20 times better than the anime, although it's not finished yet, also check out the Deathnote manga (Even though it's almost the same as the anime), Battle angel Alitia and Shaman warrior are good titles as well.

Anyway check them out and enjoy!!

I'll second a few of those.

Elfen Lied, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Eureka Seven, Evangelion, and Black Lagoon.
The only problem being that since Black Lagoon was only released up to the first season, episode 12, before Geneon went under. It's unknown whether or not the second season will be released by anyone else.

Also, to suggest, I'd recommend Fate/stay night, Gurren Lagann, and perhaps My-HiME. All of them are pretty good for action. Fate/stay night is the most serious of the three, where Gurren Lagann is a mix of serious and comic elements, as well as a bunch of homages to mecha series that GAINAX had been involved in before, as well as a couple others. My-HiME might seem a bit girly, but where the first have is mainly your typical 'high school' anime, the second half gets more serious and has some pretty good action. The animation for all three is excellent, as well as the music. Keep in mind that Fate/stay night was also being released by Geneon before they died, so it's in limbo along with Black Lagoon.

Black Lagoon.

I certainly have to second (third?) Black Lagoon. It's really a damn shame that the US branch of Geneon went down. (I can't help but wonder how. They've been releasing a ton of great stuff over the years.) Black Lagoon's definitely got plenty of action, blood included, and lots of swearing. (I think the English dub seemed to swear more, haha.) Plenty of laughs to be had, and plenty of great serious moments as well. Even though you won't find the second season on DVD, if you look around online, I know it's uploaded on various sites for streaming/downloading. Up to you whether or not to hit that up.

Damn. I forgot Fate/stay night was also being released by Geneon. That fails on so many levels. =\
Anyway, Fate/stay night is another I'll definitely back up. The entire series is pretty much based on fighting, and it's got a handful of nice fight scenes. There's a lot more to find out about characters and whatnot if you read the manga and play the games, but the anime on its own is still great.

Others mentioned that I fully support are Cowboy Bebop (you should be able to find a cheap 3-disc set for this series), Elfen Lied (LOTS of blood and gore), and Ghost in the Shell (very deep political/cyberpunk plot, and plenty of action).

Oh, man. Forgot to mention Ergo Proxy. Another series with a very cyberpunk-esque theme. Well, I guess there's not all that much action in it in the long run, but there are quite a few busy scenes. Overall, a very neat series.

Hellsing, and Death Note. I've always liked the short ones. If they go on too long then they start to go bad with fillers and all this nonsense.

I definitely agree with gurren lagann but thats not licensed in north America is it? Also Mai-Hime is a great anime i forgot to mention i guess if your going to mention mai-hime, another worthy mention would probably be "Shakugan no shana" (Shana in North America).

yeah because of geneon going down black lagoon isn't complete but there's always fan subs smile.gif

I guess when you talk about long ones being ruined by fillers you mean series like Bleach or Naruto? lol

Case Closed was pretty good. At least the first couple, I sort of lost interest when I realized that it was always the same basic format for every case. I sort of stopped after book 9 or so...

Gurren Lagann was lisenced by ADV some time ago.

They were actually rather quick in picking it up.

I'm not a big anime/manga person, so in my opinion none of them are worth buying. I'll occasionally read a series on the Internet though. I probably shouldn't endorse any specific sites for that, but they're out there, trust me.

As for actual series... nothing that hasn't already been said.
