The Hero of Time
Well, Twilight Princess has been out over a year, Phantom Hourglass has been and gone, and as far as I'm aware, no one knows what the next true Zelda game is going to be. Nintendo did confirm that there is going to be a new Zelda on the Wii (No duh) but thats all they've said. We also know that Miyamoto said that these will be the last Zelda "as we know it."

Will we see even greater simplification of control like the recent DS title? A new graphical style, different from the "realistic" and cel shaded styles as implicated by Miyamotos comment...or does that comment refer to something else other than visuals? So maybe it will be one of those styles again. Who knows.

I know its a pretty broad question, but, whats next for Zelda?
Athrun
I think it's going to be a genuine "Wii Zelda" where we have to swing our arms and wrists through the game.
Not sure how much I'm going to like the new different Zelda though. I'm not really all that excited about Twilight Princess as it is, as I still haven't played it, but that's probably not mainly because of the controls. But I thought the swinging to attack was a bit pointless, but the aming with the hookshot and bow was good. If they make the swinging to attacks better suited for the Wiimote then it might be fun though, but even the idea of playing Zelda using the stylus seems strange to me, so I don't know if all these changes are really a good thing.
Souls
Hm, that makes me a bit upset just seeing that it may be the last of the Zelda series. I mean, I'm absolutely loving Twilight Princess so far and I loved Phantom Hourglass. I want to see something they've never done before though. Something completely surprising and breath taking. A compelling story, new characters, no cel shading(as cute as it is, I would think they'd want to go out with a bang), interactivity with the Wiimote(moving it in certain directions and patterns to do a certain move) etc.

Ooooh last one"as we know it" eh? Well it never hurts to see something new, just as long as if it sucks, revert back to how it was =] I personally don't wanna see completely new styles of Zelda, but I guess we've got all the golden oldies to play biggrin.gif

I can't really imagine what they're planning to do with the series, lets just hope it doesn't suck! biggrin.gif

We won't know until this new game comes out. But, I am looking forward into a new Link ansestor again and having new enemies as well as something different other than to just traverse through dungeons to collect the peices needed to go to the last dungeon and someone else other than Ganon, making him appear alot later with a compelling story rather than just having a return every other game. Like for example, possessing a wizard or something and have him as the main villain for awhile, then by some strange event of something, will allow Ganon to have another return again!

(SPOILER BELOW)

That was what kinda happened with Twilight Princess. Zant was your main villain for the most part but it turned out that Ganon was the main perpetrator.

I think twilight princess recaptured (for the most part) what a zelda game should be. However I am very over the format of more or less telling the exact same story over and over with ever so slight changes to plot. I want to see the next chapter and I want to know WHICH game this chapter followed on from (I know the supposed theme is that each game is from a different time or something in hyrule's past and 'link' is always a sort of ancestor from the last link in the last zelda game but then Gannondorf and Zelda ALWAYS seem to be around the same time in the same roles, leading me to think its just the same story retold different instead...anyway). Keep the semi-realistic graphics, cell shaded is kinda lame and doesn't suit the game I feel. And go overkill on the interesting quirks likes masks and the temple of time and the light and dark worlds, etc etc. Have them ALL in the one game! it'd be mad!

They need to make a live action movie for zelda.
I think it would the sickest thing ever.

based on one of the games, or not.
it would be epic
Phisix
Indeed, but I bet it would turn out shite like many of the other video game to Movie conversions. Zelda's setting is fantasy setting much like Lord of the Rings sort of thing so Peter Jackson would be the best bet if it was ever considered. An Anime would be much better though.

I’m not entirely sure Jackson is as big a fan of Zelda as he was LotR. =p. That’s one of the big reasons why the Lord of the Rings movies are as good as they are. As a fan, he wanted them done right.

Anyway, I don’t have any thoughts really on the actual subject at hand. >.>.

WAIT!!!! If they actually did a movie about Zelda, wouldn't Link have to talk??? Wow, talk about "out of character" smile.gif

Link does talk in both the cartoon series and the manga's too. An Anime series or Anime movie would be a far safer option, IMO. The Mario live action movie was terrible so I don't see them doing that to Zelda.
Markies
I think the Zelda series to revered to ever do a movie. No matter how good the movie is, I don't think they could ever compare to the games before it. The expectations are too high for any director to ever succede. They'd have to make one of the greatest movies ever made just to compare with previous iterations in the series.

For the games, I expect one more Zelda like game for the Wii. However, I think it will be something entirely different. Maybe another cartoonish game or something like 4 Swords. Twilight Princess was very much a fanservice game and they are not going to repeat it, so the next one should be another sharp turn that the series is known for. However, I don't think we'll get another Zelda game in a few years.
Ragnarok
I also agree that the next Zelda will probably be similar to Twilight Princess on the Wii, but more indepth. Pretty much, you are link and you are in full control of him. Almost like a virtual game, your in it and whatever you do in real life happens in the game. Aside from them obviously adding new things to the new game, I can almost feel that its going to be a whole new experience playing the new Zelda, and it may not be a good thing.

Well maybe so, as it will be done by Retro though that it is a rumor of someone's random fantasy and that it may be untrue.

What Nintendo should do is to create a whole new game engine for the series. The 3D one we have come to know and love is just getting a bit old now(Though I don't mind as I still love it) I cannot really see anything else that would work even better than the one they use now though, excect better and better graphics each time.
Demonwing
I think they should just do something original for once. Stop whoring the same boring green elf who is on a mission from one princess or another to kill a pig, it got boring five years ago >.>

You kidding me??? Using the Super Scope as a weapon, Bob-bomb's wearing Reebok's and Yoshi looking like something that came straight out of a blender with Alien and Jurrasic Park thrown in??? Priceless smile.gif

Thinking of it more, I think a "true" RPG of Zelda would be interesting. I think if you threw in the FFiX free-combat system with a three-member party setup would be super cool. (maybe on the verge of a rip-off, but it would be sweet nonetheless.)

I do like the idea of total control of link, and some killer epic NEW story. The older games are epic, and it's going to be hard for Nintendo to reach that status again. But Twilight Princes, i thought, was a great introduction for the legend of zelda games on the wii. The story with Twilight Princess was good, though I was slightly disappointed in the simularity of the dungeons and bosses from Orcarina..... But nonetheless, it would make a awesome anime movie. I dont think many ppl would go for the idea though, its too much to live up to.

If nintendo is going to release a new zelda game, i think they should redo orcarina of time for the wii. like, redo the graphics and incorporate the wii movements into the game.

I want another game like Majoras Mask, with the many sidequests and the NPC depth and whatnot

Agreed, but not in the story department and the length of the game. Nintendo could be working on a new Zelda while we speak.

Well apparantly they are making a new Wii Zelda. Their might be an announcement at this coming E3 (which starts next week). There has been rumours on a "steam punked" Zelda called The Valley of the Flood, AKA Project Deluge. It's an interesting read actually.
