I figure since I’m playing the darn game right now, I might as well start a thread for general discussion on it =p. So, on I ramble. (Oh, and for the record, I have the GBA version. Not sure if things would be different, but just thought I’d mention that in case things are >.o).
Having started this game last year, I quit because the battles went slow action and I think I just didn’t know what to do (yes, lame). So anyway, having been brought to my sense by Mushroom, I restarted the game and am now thoroughly enjoying it in a non-biased fashion =p.
I’m currently trying to find the Wind Spirit and calm it, so I’m not terribly far in it yet---but I’m progressing rapidly due to the fact I’m starting to get addicted to it =p. I’m only at level 11, and the only time I really issues beating anything was the two stone golems that pop out at you when you’re about to find out Dhaos is brought back (lame, I know, but I had no items + low health + low TP). Other than that, nothing has been too difficult (and I come prepared for battles now =p.).
Um. So, yeah. Good game so far. Anybody else played it? Thoughts? Feel free to put spoilers in here even if I haven’t gotten that far---chances are good I’ll get to the spoiler part soon enough =p. But anyway, discuss your thoughts on the game and whatnot =).

First of all: ##### Grade A game. No two ways about it. For every random person that comes across this thread when they hear about this really obscure rpg series that a friend of a friend once mentioned over the phone when they were all playing FFXII, and then searches it on the internet because apparently there's other series out there that are not FF: Yes. You've made it. This is it. This is the world before you, and Tales of Phantasia is an excellent title to begin with. Buy it, download it, act it out, whatever. Just love it.
*deep breath* Now that I've got that out the way XD I really have the urge to start playing this again haha 0.0 but I know if I pick up another rpg the other games I'm playing will suffer, and by logic, I have to continue with Tales of Eternia and Golden Sun, since these are my first playthroughs for both, and I have did ToP a few times before >_< after them though. Its definetely on the cards haha.
Anway, I'm glad you finally clicked with it DB ^^, sometimes it takes me awhile to *get* an rpg that I buy. I remember getting SaGa Frontier 2 and jsut being like, wtf, this is the supposedly awesome game? But I came back to it and loved it eventually.
OH, and I think we should make a rule that all threads in this forum HAVE to begin with "Tales of". Its jsut to awesome to be broken.

So i'm getting the vibe you might actually like this game Mushroom.
Well as i've said i've got his title but still haven't played it due to one thing or another - though having played with Chester and Arche in ToW I really want to get into this one just to see what there story is all about. Though ToS is definitely going to come first. So expect a new Tales of Symphonia thread sometime in the near future - and then everyone can really obsess.
Oh and I second your idea about the topic titles - lets see how long it can last.

Same I would probably end up playing a ROM as my GBA just gathers dust to be honest in comparison to my PSP usage. Although I agree with PAL RPGamer that I would play it to find out the backstory behind Chester and Arche thanks to TOW (
she is overpowered when you face her in ToW and probably in Eternia as well
)

Unfortunately I didn't get to fight Arche in ToE - it was just Cress, i think there's something you need to do to activate her in the colosseum but not entirely sure what that is. When you do eventually get to that stage whatever you do - dont let Cress get a combo going - cos once he'll does chances are your done for - another multiple attempt battle for me that one - definitely one of those where its best to keep your distance - the duels in ToW:RM pale in comparison to these.

I think you mean so everyone can spam their hearts out =p.
Woo, game update!
I made the pact with Sylph, went to the Yggdrasil tree (similarity number 1 =D.), beat Demetril (something like that. “The Elf”), and now am currently fighting the Prince of Alvanistra. Exciting, yes? I agree =p. Oh, and on the topic of plot,
I actually thought it was easy to guess that “Rhea” was Arche. Well, before they introduced that it was “Rhea”, I thought it was Arche, therefore I kind of figured that after they beat the Elf, who “Rhea” actually was was kind of obvious >.o. And, now that PAl/Allied mentioned Chester, I hope he didn't die =(. It doesn't seem like he would have, but do I get to play as him again? He was actually a pretty good party member....
I will say I enjoyed the whole boat scene, where Claus and Meia were talking and Arche was sleeping (and talking =p.). I mean, not totally hilarious, but still. “Oh, Cress, stop, we shouldn’t” =p.
Um...yeah, I think that’s it. I am glad I picked this game back up, because I’m finding it was very foolish to have put it down in the first place. Ho-hum.

Haha, I told you XD ToP ftw! I really wish I'd picked this up instead of GS now so I could post alongside, but from memory, thats all good stuff you're on ^^ and GS is keeping me very busy anyway so I can't be too annoyed. I think i'm going to take PRG's course of action and do a ToS/ToP combo playthrough once I've finished up my current batch of rpgs

Sorry what I should have said was so I could obsess and everyone else can spam to their hearts content. I'll be going for the 100% completion this time - so obsession will just about cover it - also after all those damn statues - didn't get many first time through due to major lack of rare pellets - hopefully I can transfer them over from the last game through the Grade shop.

Kinda off topic but Cress and Arche in the battle arena of ToE are such
hardcore fighters.
(You can only face Arche if you choose to fight Cress in hard, Cress also gets +2000 HP)
I just beat them today and so frigging long to kill them.
I had
11 Reverse dolls (which I all used up) and just got pounded by
eruption, indignation, shock pulse and
two Cress limit breaks.
I took out Arche when I had 9 dolls left (I used Rising Phoenix ) then in regards to Cress he had like 10,000 HP left so I just spammed megasonic thrust and omega demon chaos.
Finished him off with Omega Demon Chaos. red hp, red tp (mental ring, faerie ring essential)
But yeah they both kick ass
Oh I retried 6-8 times

10,000 HP would be nice. I think I have about...1000 at the moment, haha...
Well, I haven’t updated where I am lately, so I guess I can do that (if anyone cares, but for the sake of discussion). I have recently gotten to the Morlia Mines (it really is starting to bother me how every mine that belongs to a dwarf is named, um, Moria or...some variation thereof =p.). Other than that, I beat Efrit and it is now summonable.
Truth be told, I haven’t been playing as much recently. Guess I should start getting back into it, haha...

So, I’m very lame and got myself stuck in this game. I would look up on gamefaqs or some such place how to get past it, but I’m too lazy to do that right now and would rather trustworthy first-hand experience from someone I at least know somewhat anyway, haha.
To the point: I’m stuck in the Morlia Mines. I’ve been stuck there for quite some time. To explain how far I am in them; Not very. On the first floor I flipped a switch or two and supposedly the door on the fifth (?) level is to open, but it hasn’t.
If you have any idea what I’m talking about, I’d appreciate help. If you don’t, feel free to give me a semi-short walkthrough of the Mines, haha...

Update!!! (with some spoilers, no doubt)
I picked this game back up a couple weeks ago and got past the Morlia Mines (went back to Alvanista and talked to some of the people in the castle). Now I'm at the final boss, and I can say that he's posing a bit of a problem, haha. Stats:
Cress: 67 (getting all those Derris Emblems by himself, haha)
Claus: 57
Arche: 56
Mint: 56
Chester: 51
Suzu: 43
I got to phase three, but Dhaos is really dominating me, haha. I'm going to go back out of his castle, get items at Friezkel, then head back. I barely lived through the second phase of the battle, so when he decided to go "plume" on me, I sighed. He's probably the hardest final boss I've come across in a Tales game so far. ToS= Mithos wasn't too bad, maybe took one or two tries, and ToA= Vaan probably took me quite a while, but in retrospect, he wasn't really that hard.. Dhaos, however...Well. I guess, considering things, he can't be too easy. >.o. Not that I'm complaining. Most of the bosses so far have been pretty easy, so it's nice to have a challenging final boss.
So anyway, now that I've almost come to the end of the game, anybody want to discuss it and share the Tales love?
