Xanadu
Well, I'm not sure if I should start playing Kingdom Hearts, because beleive it or not, I have never even picked the game up.

So I was wondering what you guys thought, because I've heard a mixture of positive and negative comments on the game. I've only ever read about it and I don't know if it's any good.

The idea of the crossover between Square and Disney never really appealed to me, that's why I didn't rush out to buy it, but I'm really thinking on it now.

I'd love to hear all your thoughts.

There was a topic quite like this by Hoodman recently (Should I even attempt this?).

I would say go for it. When I first heard of the series it was by a friend back in...fourth grade 0.o? (seems so long ago now...). The way he described it, it was interesting, but you know...when you don’t have all the details about something, usually you imagine it to be way different, so when you finally try it...it seems like something out of another world. If that makes sense? (probably not, but I’m too lazy to explain my “profound” statement =(. ).

So anyway, the point was basically that I got into the games (at least three years later) not because of the Disney/FF hype, but because I heard it was good from a friend, and what I envisioned it to be seemed like something awesome. Now, when I played the game, it was obviously different (though I went “ooh!” when I reached the part my friend told me all about.), but I still liked it. If you play something with the intent to judge it critically (exaggeration), then most times people take even the smallest, most minor detail and turn it into some life threatening thing. So I would recommend trying the games with an open mind and just see where it takes you. It might not be what you expect, or it may be, but I personally think it would be worth your while to play the games.

...Or you could ignore the above two paragraphs, as I don’t think they made much sense anyway. If you want a good (if maybe over-hyped by some) rpg, play these. Some things may be a little off (as is true for most games), but I think they’re good for a run-through. I guess the best way to find out is to just play the games for yourself (via renting or buying) and play until you decide you really don’t want to bother anymore.

In all honesty, I figure that if hundreds of people ogle these, you might as well give them a shot, but just don’t go in playing them with the mindset of comparison to anything...I think they’re good games (if stupid at times) and were fun to play.

And, sorry for the relative un-helpfulness of this post, as I’m somewhat tired >.<

Thanks DB. I guess I'll go buy it then. I don't usually rent games as such, so I like to get opinions from sources I trust.

I've seen clips from it and thought it looked quite enjoyable, but wasn't sure as to whether the game itself was any good, since I've read a few negative things. Though I agree some people do pluck out the tiniest flaws in games and make them "life threatening things", like with that Twilight Princess review I posted about a while back, mentioning things like having to press a button to read a sign (lawl!).

Helpful enough for me, thanks again DB. happy.gif
