Full Version: New Mountain Dew

Yeah, another Mountain Dew thread, 'cause I'm lame like that. Hopefully, this is the right place for this kind of thing.

For those who dunno, MD started up this thing sometime ago called DEWmocracy, where people could sign up and design new flavors and such, out of which three would be chosen as the final candidates. Now, those three final candidates have been chosen, and the voting has begun.

1.) Supernova: Strawberry Melon Lime (+Ginseng)
2.) Voltage: Raspberry Citrus (+Ginseng)
3.) Revolution: Wild Berry Fruit Fusion (+Ginseng)

Personally, I'm supporting Supernova, so I gotta post the banner for that one. The voting is based on a per-click button/banner system, so each click (one per day, per person) adds to the tally.

However, if you would like to support one of the other two flavors, you can find out more about that at DEWmocracy.

Voting aside, I'm curious to see what others here think of the candidates for the new flavor.
I'll give my input later, but for now, what do you think?
The Evil Dead
SuperNova seems like the only good flavor on there. It better win.

Now with Ginseng to make you even more wired and fat than before.
SharkFinn
I probably won't drink whatever they pick since I'm not a big Dew person, but Voltage sounds the best to me. I won't vote though.
Turtle Smasher
i cant have em all? sad.gif
Rhadamanthus
I'd vote for Supernova as well.
Seems like I have a bigger voice here than with my own presidential elections. smile.gif
Valince
Oh lovely. I hope these aren't as bad as Code Red. That flavor was horrible.

Go go supernova.
Bomb
FUUUHUHUUUUUCK, man.
Someone send me a case or three of the new stuff.
There's no way in hell I can get it here in Japan.

Even the classic green Dew here is decaf and undercabonated for some strange Japanese reason. I can't stand it.

Shihihihiiiiiiiiit >_<

I will totally PayPal you the cost of the Dew + shipping + dough for your troubles.

PEPSI CUCUMBER FTW!

I'll send you as much Fanta Melon and Mango Yogurt Soda as you can handle! laugh.gif

Edit:
Actually, I should've picked some of the weird and crappy stuff. Those are both good. Fanta Melon in particular. My wife's more of a Mango Yogurt Soda fan than me, though.
Chalryn
Japan certainly does seem to have a lot of crazy drinks. I'm quite interested in some, though. Wish they were easier to get access to over here.

Far as MD goes, I'm glad to see more Supernova supporters here. happy.gif Pretty much everything about it is more appealing to me. The strawberry/melon/lime combo sounds really interesting to me, and I imagine it could taste pretty good. The lavender color is a nice change of pace, and the logo selected works well. I'm so glad that "Brace For The Blast" was chosen as the slogan, haha. So perfect, and catchy.

The other flavors sound like they could be okay, though they sound kinda unoriginal, among other things. Raspberry citrus doesn't sound to great to me, especially since I'm not huge on raspberry flavors in the first place. Wild berry fruit fusion just sounds... like fruit punch, basically, which isn't a bad idea, but it's just unoriginal. And, with wild berry thrown in, it just sounds like too many flavors mixed together.

I'm not sure when the voting will end, but I'll have to try to remember to keep you updated with the winner, and hopefully, a release date for the winning beverage.
Theferrell
I'm a bigger fan of spanish sodas personally. (mmmm, postabon naranjo y sangria). But I'm also not a fan of Mt. Dew, but the Revolution would sound good to me.

There was this great shop in town which used to sell the best Ramune and I was very happy. Then it started selling an inferior brand of Ramune and then the shop closed down :'(... I think just opening a bottle was the most fun I've ever had with a drink.

Anyway... I don't care too much which one wins because I probably won't ever get to drink it. Mountain Dew is Rare in the UK, and Mountain Dew Code Red is non-existant... Which is a shame because I love that drink. I'd go with the majority, I love Melon flavour anyway.

Is that stuff really good? I've noticed some stores around here stocking a few flavors in the anime section (along with Pocky and various other Asian treats). I think I saw strawberry, melon, and some sort of clear one.

Glad to see so many Supernova supporters, though. Haha. Here's to hoping it wins.
Flame
I've only tried the clear stuff, I knew of other flavours but my little Sushi shop never stocked it sad.gif You should try it at least once, if nothing else just for the whole marble opening thing. If you're worried about the flavour then don't be, it's apparently the Japanese version of Lemonade (thus the name, ramune) but it's actually very hard to accurately describe the taste. Many of my friends say different fruit :s. Like I said, some brands are superior to others. I can't remember the name of the brand I fell in love with. I'll try and find out if you want...

A little off topic, but at least we're still talking about drinks tongue.gif
The Pursuer
So...i cant have them all? thats not cool
Chalryn
*tosses an Amp at thread*

The new Dews should be out right about now, for those interested. Just finished a bottle of Supernova, and it's pretty much how I imagined it: tasty, and original. Voltage and Revolution will be in my stomach sometime later. =]

So yeah, all three are out right now, so look around. They're still only going to keep one in the end, but for the time being, all three are out, for people to drink, and then ultimately vote on. Do the Dew, then vote on which you prefer over at DewMocracy.com.
Nocinderella
Why was I not informed of this? ...ugh it will take ages for NZ to get it, if it ever does sad.gif "Don't care how, I want it now."

I'm leaning more towards Supernova.
Rhadamanthus
I've seen it in ohio stores for a good week now, at least.
Supernova is good. smile.gif The Wild Berry is miserable, and the raspberry is tolerable.

I think I may be addicted to supernova though
The Evil Dead
I bought a 12 pack of Supernova and enjoy it quite a bit. I had a 20 ounce of whatever the berry one is and found it to be fairly solid but the Supernova was more appealing.

I hope it ends up being the one that sticks around. Infinite Mountain Dew, I say.

Code Red is good pop .. it's outlasted Pepsi Blue, Pitch-Black and Live-Wire for a reason.

I've had Supernova the other day. That ##### will hype you like Amp with all the ginseng, but the flavor tastes like Pepsi Blue. It's cheaper than a canned energy drink, so I'm all for it.
JD-san
They all taste like carbonated versions of Kool-Aide flavors I grew up on. I'm stuck somewhere between Supernova and that Rasberry Citrus one, but I'm thinking I'll go with Supernova. I kinda doubt any of 'em will stay in the permanent lineup though.
Dylan Sprouse
I think it was Revolution that I had yesterday. It was the blue kind, and I'm pretty sure that was the one. It was very good. It's even better than code red mountain dew and normal mountain dew. That's how good it is. I haven't tried the other two, but I'm hoping that I will. They sound very good. So out of all the mountain dews I've ever drank, I'd have to say Revolution is the best one.
Lost Seraphim
Chal and I picked 'em up last night at the local Hess, and I definitely enjoy Supernova over the other two, and Voltage over Revolution. Voltage is pretty tasty, reminds me of those red, white & blue rocket ice pops, and Revolution just tastes like a mess of fruit that doesn't really stand out for me.

I'm all for Supernova though. I'll be picking up more soon.
Chalryn
Okay, I can cover all three now, so *copy+paste*:

Supernova was pretty tasty, as expected. A little too sweet, though. The strawberry flavor seems to overpower that of the (water?)melon, which is a change I would like to see. Still has my vote, nonetheless. (Seems like a losing battle at the moment, though.)

Voltage takes second place for me, and it's not too far off from Supernova. I can kinda see/taste the comparison Lost Seraphim made. Loses its appeal quickly as it gets warmer and/or loses carbonation, but assuming it's cold and carbonated, it's pretty good stuff. Won't mind if this one wins, which is how it seems at the moment.

Revolution, on the other hand, was overall a disappointment, and it seems to have had that same effect on the majority of the voters. It just tastes like a clusterf*** of fruit, really, and the results aren't that great. I mean, it's bearable, but that's about it.

All three kinda taste like Kool-Aid, though, which is somewhat of a downside if you ask me. Overall, I was more impressed with the new Amp flavors, but the new Dews are interesting.
The Evil Dead
Supernova is the ##### I could drink it all day to be honest. I grew up on kool aid so maybe that's why I enjoy it so much... I really hope it wins because I can't get enough of it.
Chalryn
http://www.dewmocracy.com

As I said, seems like a losing battle. =\
As long as Revolution doesn't win, I'd be happy, though it'd still be upsetting to see either Voltage or Supernova vanish from shelves. All I can really say is register and vote every day, pass it around, and hope you can shift the tides enough for Supernova to win. I'm still voting for it, myself, despite also having a thing for Voltage.
Dylan Sprouse
I'm not really sure which one I like the most. Which one is the blue one?
Chalryn
There are two blue ones. (I color-coordinated them in my review thing a couple posts up.)
Revolution's a sort of pale cyan almost, while Voltage is pale blue or just plain blue.
Dylan Sprouse
Oh I'm not sure which one it was. I love mountain dew, all of the kinds. They make me hyper which I love lol.
The Evil Dead
Eventually you'll drink so much of it that you require it on a daily basis just to function.

I'm a zombie without Dew. I drink way too much of it. Probably gonna have to switch back to Diet Dew again because it's building me a gut. >_>
Alazuli
Oh, so it's a competition? I saw the 20 oz. bottles of all of them at the store, the other day, and was freaking over how pretty the colours are. XD

Too bad there's no diet or I'd be devouring that SuperNova. It sounds tasty. 8[
Dylan Sprouse
Diet Mt. Dew is the only soda that I like. I like non diet Mt. Dew more though. So anyone like Code Red Mt. Dew?
Chalryn
I used to really like Code Red, and still drink it occasionally, but it's just gotten really old for me, so it's not so enjoyable anymore. I wish they'd bring back Game Fuel in some form or other. And/or Pitch Black. ;_;
The Evil Dead
We need to start the revolution and bring back the Game Fuel. That stuff was awesome.
Dylan Sprouse
Oh, I've never heard of game fuel before. I know of most soda though. And the only sodas I don't like are Root Beer and Dr. Peper, and diet sodas.
The Evil Dead
It was a flavor created in promotion for Halo 3 before and during its release.

Yeah dude I know... I got the impression that it sold like sex, so I was SURE it was going to become a permanent addition to the Dew lineup, just minus the Halo promotion. And if they really wanted to keep the name, they could've just advertised different upcoming video games periodically and made some decent promo cash in the process. But noooo.. =/
Chalryn
I was instantly intrigued by Game Fuel when I'd heard it was cherry-citrus/citrus-cherry, since that's also the flavor of one of my favorite SoBe beverages (Courage). Brought it home when I first got an early taste of it from the local deli (think I posted a pic somewhere, too, haha), and was quite happy with it. From there, it became an addiction, and a hang-out necessity whenever I had friends around. We all binged on that stuff while it lasted, and I still have an empty 2-liter, 20oz., and can lying around for collector's sake. XD

So yes. Game Fuel indeed needs to come back.

From the bit that I got to have, I was quite a fan of Pitch Black as well, though. As were many of my friends. We were all sad to see it go. Apparently, it made a comeback, with Pitch Black II, which was sour grape (as opposed to plain grape). Never saw it 'round here, though. In any case, I'd like to see Pitch Black return as well sometime... Did any of you get to try either of those?
Noir
My hands are shaking but I'm still drinking Revolution.
Dylan Sprouse
Ok, I have no clue what you're all talking about. But I'll go along w/ it.
Noir
It's good, but sodas make my hands shake.

Ditto.

If you mean stuff like Game Fuel and Pitch Black, they're just Mountain Dew flavors that were around for a while, but were limited edition, so they're gone now. We just wish the company would bring 'em back, since they're good stuff.

Otherwise, "Revolution" and such is just the new flavors, mentioned and explained in the original post one page 1.

Mountain Dew @ Wikipedia -- Varieties
There's a list, with some explanations on some of the past/current flavors.
Dylan Sprouse
LOL! Soda makes me hyper, which I love. I was confused, b/c this is a thread about mt. dew. u all were talking about Halo before.

I mentioned Halo because you asked what Gamefuel was. It was a type of Mountain Dew created for promotion of Halo 3 and is no longer being made.
Noir
Whatever you do, do not mix Revolution and Supernova. Yuck.
Dylan Sprouse
Oh, I get what you were saying about halo now thanx for clearing it up. What's it taste like if you mix surnova and revoulution?
Chalryn
I find Revolution to be borderline "yuck" material to begin with. Adding Supernova would probably just make it even more of a clusterf*** of flavors, thus resulting in repulsed reactions.
Dylan Sprouse
Oh, so it's that bad? hmmm.
