I managed to beat OSWALD during the storyline battles after numerous hopeless tries, but I can't seem to repeat the success to unlock that one wallpaper from Serpent of Lore...

Anyone got any tips to properly pwn OSWALD? Or any other Avatar battles, for that matter?

(.hack subforum is too quiet that it might look like I'm spamming or something... dry.gif)

I liked them. I mean it told you what to do to complete the battle at the start, but I still found a couple of them challenging enough to enjoy.

I haven't really thought about getting any .Hack. I might get it, I have heard some good things about it.

Oswald being tough? Did I miss something?
The only Avatar Battle I really found tough was Corbenik - not matter what phase...
The easiest one probably was Cubia... That thing is soooo damn fat that you just cant miss using Data-Drain.

Corbenik hard? You referring to the time you fight him during Volume 2? Not sure if you fight him once again during Volume 3, but during Volume 2 he wasn't that difficult. Just dodge his close range assault and that's about all he's got.

Oswald is not that difficult. The only problem a person might have is when it's trying to capture you in it's weapon, but once you know the pattern, it's not that difficult to evade.

Only tip I can give you is figure out their attack pattern and they'll become a walk in the park. If the enemy doesn't counter when you move in for close range assault, then just assault them close range instead of bothering to stun them with the shoot command. Also, for those attacks that require you to deflect objects coming at you with the melee attack, try to get close to the enemy and assault them with the melee attack while deflecting the objects coming at you, but be careful, a couple of enemies have a counter, like that snake like AIDA that will use Lips Tackle as soon as it's objects it's launch at you is gone, but that thing such a big target, you do not need to use that method against that AIDA since you can use the shoot command and stun it with little ease.

You do fight him again... when Ovan starts the Rebirth as far as I can remember...

Ovan himself was pretty tough aswell... probably the hardest fight in the whole game...

Oswald is pretty decent once you get used to avoiding that stupid web attack of his. Everything else falls into place rather easily.

I like to rush things though, so it's not surprising I got stuck for so long. Playing defensive is so not me. laugh.gif

Oh well, since you can fight him again, I might as well. (Copied from the other Oswald help topic)

Oh I see, it's Bordeux's AIDA. Well it might help if you tell us exactly what it is you are having problems with, because it's hard to give advice when you don't have any problems yourself.

I just tried fighting it now and I got it's HP down to arround 25% pretty much without getting hit, so I'm not sure what advice to give you really besides the basics. It's a pretty straightforward fight. Any attack in particular you are having trouble with?

I'll list the attacks and the proper moves to do against them.

Shooting spider web. = Start slashing through it, don't try to dash.
Charging against you and start attacking with it's arms. = Dash to the side.
Shoots small balls that home in on you. = Slash at them when they come close.
Shoots super charged spider web. = Dash to the side and then stand still in a safe spot. But you probably can't stand still in the same spot all the time so you may need to dash to a new location when the spider web starts closing in. Just pay attention to how it moves and you can avoid it easily.

Actually, the one against Bordeaux was relatively easy. I just had a hard time fighting him again for that wallpaper.

Somehow I forgot how to last against those web attack, so I had to relearn it. sad.gif

I fought him again and handle Ovan and Corbenik without much trouble. Ovan wasn't as difficult this time around since I took a better team into the fight against him. The first, I used Saku and Matsu, which wasn't the greatest idea since I have yet to fill Saku and Matsu's inventory and Saku and Matsu were not trained to Haseo's level. I forgot which level I fought Ovan at, but low enough for Matsu and Saku to get killed, I rarely died in a fight.

The most difficult fight I had to date would be against Azure Knights, but I can't deny that I had fun during that fight.

All fights with your avatar about evading the enemies' attacks. Mainly, you have to avoid enemies' heavy damage assault, like Oswald's web. If you evade it, you suffer no damage. If you don't, then 1/4 of your HP is gone.
