Chalryn
Well, now that I'm done hanging at friends' places and I'm back home, I suppose I could do another post here.
This time, I'll give some... somewhat random pics. Some are originals that I feel are worth sharing, and others are just kinda from a "misc" folder of sorts.

Just as with the previous thread, click the thumbnails given to view the full images.

Originals
None of the names I give are particularly "official," by the way.
Just thrown in for the sake of labeling them.

Armored Beast
2004/2005? Just a doodle of sorts, kinda "inspired" by Diablo II, in a sense. Just some sort of "magical creature" thing made up of armor and weapons of sorts. (Most of which have their designs based on stuff from Diablo II, which is what I meant by "inspired by.") Was thinking of a "chimera"-type creature, though I guess that's not quite how it came out. *shrug* Whatever.
Angles are weird... I dunno. I'm sure there's plenty wrong with it. I just don't really care.

Blindfold
2005? Some random doodle. Dude's blindfolded (likely inspired by the KH Deep Dive cutscenes), and has one of those necklace-weight things. Not really sure if there was a plan behind this drawing. Just, uh... it is what it is. Done in pen, by the way.

Ugh Wtf
2006. Random drawing, after becoming very frustrated with having not done anything in a while. Used parts of myself for anatomical reference for some parts of the drawing... Yeah... Best damn hands I've ever drawn, though, that's for sure. Haha. As usual, the scanner didn't really do the shading much justice, but oh well.

Random Girl #__ (Bigger "thumbnail" placed simply because I prefer that portion over the rest of the actual drawing. Click to view the rest, but don't expect anything better.)
If you bother to check the URL, the filename gives away the date: January 30th, 2008. Not long ago, though certainly long after the previous original drawing. Anyway, this is actually what I refer to as "semi-referenced," since I used a few different references for each part of the drawing. The only thing I really just kinda did on my own was, like, the hoodie/jacket thing. (It shows, too. In a bad way.) Oh, and the lips, too, I think. The general concept, though, is... "original." It's supposed to be based on a friend of mine. ...Not sure what else to say. I'm kind of satisfied with how the face came out...

Referenced, But Incomplete

Forever Kingdom - Darius
2003/2004? Something I was drawing in school a few years ago. Just never bothered to finish it. Don't really feel like hunting down the reference, 'specially since it's just an incomplete doodle. Just kinda feel like including it, for the sake of having something older up here.

Eureka Seven - Eureka & Renton Thurston
2006. Pretty much just never bothered to finish. Not too terrible of a job, aside from Eureka's face/head, though I could never get Renton's face right, so I just never finished.

Elfen Lied - Lucy
2007. This one, I actually hope to finish someday. I was only using it as something to do during school, but I'm actually very fond of the original image, and I'm also pretty fond of how this came out. I think I might've messed up something about it, but I cannot recall for certain. Anyway, not much else to say about it, I guess.

FLCL - Mamimi
2007. I kinda butchered this, heh. Oh well. Was just a doodle during lunches and study halls, for the sake of something to do. I actually added to it, but ruined it further, so I never even bothered to scan it again.

Miscellaneous
These two are basically "complete" referenced drawings, but I just don't quite consider them... "finished." Further details in their individual descriptions/explanations. (By the way, sorry, but I didn't upload the references for these two in the first place, and don't really feel like doing so, since I don't really consider them finished anyway.)

Naruto - Hinata Hyuuga
2008. First part of a "personal project" of sorts that I started not too long ago. (Which I really need to get back to work on soon...) A handful of flaws, but *sigh* whatever. Needed something to get me back into drawing, and Hinata was long overdue for a drawing. I plan on shading/coloring it at a later date, though I did do this colored version via PaintShopPro. Pretty much my first time using the program to do something like color in a drawing, especially using the method I did. Some colors are off from the reference and such, but ultimately, I rather like how it came out.

Elfen Lied - Nyuu (Lucy)
2008. Second part of the previously mentioned "project." Done not too long after the Hinata pic. Probably a bit cleaner than the Hinata pic, since I had gotten "warmed up" and back into drawing. Also remembered to sharpen my pencil more for this one. ^^; I know I messed up some stuff like head proportion and... probably something related to the breasts. (Damn women and their curves.) I don't think I made any particularly distracting flaws, though, so I'm ultimately pretty satisfied with the outcome. Not shaded (as you can clearly see), though I do plan to eventually shade/color it. Hence, not "finished" in my mind.

Uhh, I actually have a few more doodles and such, but just not uploaded, I think. Oh well.
Oh, and I think some of these may have also been posted in the past... Not really sure, so I'm sorry if they have. Hopefully, there's enough newer stuff to outweigh any already-posted material, at least. ^^;
Next bundle: portraits. Probably.
Dragon Brigade
I remember the zombie one XD. You posted it in the older topic. Can't remember what I said in it though (if anything). It's not too bad, but I definitely agree those are pretty good hands. Those are usually my failings in any drawing I do, haha. The Armored Beast and Blindfold are pretty nifty as well (and very good for being done in pen. I've tried doing that and I have instant failure XD. I need to erase things, and frequently, so I've never been one with pens except in writing). Otherwise, the big thumbnail of "Random Girl ---" is good, especially the eyes. Not quite a fan of the rest, but the face was done well.

My favorite out of your whole lot (this time) would have to be the 2007 sketch of Lucy, even though you have it as unfinished. Really, really looks great. Good work overall though, Chalryn =).
Manc
they all seem quite good, my favorite is the "armored best" simply becouse I like the design!
and the elfen lied was very good too, but she didn't remind me of her directly!

keep it up!
Chalryn
My apologies for the lateness of these responses. Been hopping around friends' houses these past few weeks.

Yeah, was pretty sure that was one I'd shared before. >.O I could only find one other topic from me when I searched the forum, so I just posted things not found through that. Anyway, thanks. I almost always wind up trying to use my own hands for reference in drawings, though I was significantly more successful with them in that one. ^^; Hands are a royal pain, otherwise.
Yeah, I guess I've just gotten used to doodling with pens in school, since I've always been too lazy to switch over to pencil. Pencils are kind of annoying, anyway, what with constantly having to sharpen them, and many having crappy erasers. I only use pencils when I'm doing a bigger project, like my referenced drawings.
Thanks. Now you see why I did the thumbnail thing like that. Haha. I seem to pretty much have faces down, after several years of only drawing faces in school notebooks and such. ^^; (I seem to improve rather slowly...) At the least, I've got one eye down (I seem to get a lot of compliments on eyes), and the nose and mouth (feminine mouths are more recent, but I think I've got the hang of it). Anyway, yeah, I need to work more on everything below the shoulders. ;_;
I keep looking back at that Lucy pic, and wishing I'd finish it soon. Haha. I really adore the original image, and I think I got a pretty good start on it. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring myself to finish it sometime in the near future. Thanks.

Thanks. The "armored beast" is somewhat one of my favorite original ones, so it's good to see someone else likes it.
Which Elfen Lied one? Lucy or Nyuu? And how do you mean that? Is there anything specific that makes the image look off?

By the way, for anyone interested, my next batch will be my portraits of friends of mine (five total), though I wanna know just how many are interested... So, if you read this, and you'd like to see 'em, just say so. I'll probably post them after all, but I figure I'll check anyway.
Dragon Brigade
I'd love to see anything you have drawn. You really are doing a nice job with all of these. It's definitely nice to see actually hand drawn artwork, besides all of the graphic art that's floating around here =). So yes, post 'em and I'll look at 'em ^^.
Chalryn
Brought back from the grave~! ...Just for two barely-worth-it doodles, though. ("Barely worth it," yet I post them anyway. Hooray for mixed feelings.)

April 28th, 2008. 'Nother random girl. (Expect a lot of these. I'm a lonely bastard.) I can't remember the story behind this one, but likely just a random doodle due to being in the mood for drawing. (Actually, if I remember correctly, I was listening to Audix and Tweek's "Day's End" Mario Kart 64 OCRemix, which had me feeling oddly creative.) Although it's only a face, as usual, I like how it came out, especially considering I actually included the other eye this time.
Given my other doodles like this one, though, it's nothing special. I need to get to work on more than just faces. And on that note...

Jul-- Wait, that's the day I scanned it. No idea when I did this. Sometime last month, I think. Anyway, random doodle while I was at a friend's place. Just kinda felt like drawing, and wound up doing this. It overlapped with another doodle in my sketchbook (wasn't really expecting it to go anywhere), so I had to edit that out, so sorry about a few missing details.
Big head, big feet, sketchy overall... I dunno. Nothing amazing, but I think it's okay. Got lazy and threw her hands in her pockets. Um. Yeah, not much else to say, really. Just a random thing, and I figure it's better than nothing at all. First time I've drawn shoes in a long time, though... Came out alright, I think, aside from the size.

Again, I conclude with: Don't expect much anytime soon. If anything half-decent (or better, perhaps) somehow comes from this hand of mine, I'll probably post it. Eventually.

I really like this one since it's so well shaded. Pen shading is awesome always.
Manc
I meant the "Nyuu" one, I think it's because her "cat-ears" doesn't show, and that gives her a somewhat common aparence. the picture is of no fault, take your "Lucy" image, there I can still somewhat see it is her!
Chalryn
Two additions to 'Miscellaneous.' Again, technically "complete" referenced drawings, but for one reason or another, I don't want to place them alongside my other completed referenced drawings.

MÄR - Dorothy (Reference)
Really, I think this one is garbage, but it's new, so I may as well post it. I think one major factor that made it come out the way it did (besides not drawing for a long time) is the angle at which she's standing, and the angle of her face. I'm a lot more comfortable with characters facing more toward the left. (Probably since I'm right-handed.) Also, proportions are all kinds of messed up. Not sure if that has anything to do with the angle/position and whatnot... Anyway, while I suppose it didn't turn out terrible, it's just very off, compared to the reference material. I had to do all sorts of improvising to make up for mistakes and such. sleep.gif Whatever. As I said, I'm basically only sharing this one 'cause it's something new, lol.
Side-note: I actually wanted to draw this one, but various problems caused me to settle with the one I did. (Unclear parts of the reference image, for example.) Maybe I'll do this one next time I decide to draw her, especially since this one didn't tun out very good.

To Love-Ru - Haruna Sairenji (Reference)
Haruna-chan~! ♥ Much more satisfied with this one, although I didn't fit as much as I would've liked to on the page. *sigh* Anyway, made a few mistakes, but I managed to fix most of them pretty well, I think. I'm planning on eventually trying to color this one with the colored pencils I bought but never really used. ^^; (Hence the empty eyes. Didn't bother to do any outlines except for the reflections.) As usual, there're some slight inaccuracies, and I had to improvise for parts obscured by bubbles in the reference, but I'm pretty content with how it turned out. Anything major that should be pointed out?
Dragon Brigade
Out of your newest set, I actually liked the first one the best. When you compare it with the reference, well...then it does look off a bit ('specially the head), but I looked at the picture first on its own, and it really doesn't look that bad in my opinion. *shrugs*.

The second is good as well. It's much more accurate with the reference.

I don't really having anything to point out as far as inconsistencies though. They looked pretty good to me without the references, so I wouldn't know what to suggest otherwise. >.>.

Well anyway, good work on both of them. =).
Chalryn
Huh, really? I guess it's at least more detailed and such... *shrug* Anyway, I'm just being a hardass on myself, as usual, lol. As I said, it's not terrible, but it just pales in comparison to the original. And maybe it was more just because it was my first in a long time, 'cause here's a new one facing the right, which came out quite nicely, I'd say:

Ef - Chihiro Shindou (Reference)
Chihiro~! ♥ (Yes, I fanboy too much. Leave me alone, lol.) Well, this isn't quite the usual kind of pic I'd choose to draw, but she's dressed pretty modestly, I think (undies/PJ's?), and in any case, damnit, she's adorable. After several almost-painstaking hours, this is the result, and I'm rather content with it. Of course, with that said, I'm hoping to get around to coloring it. All I really have to say about this pic, though, is this: Anatomy is a bitch.

(Y'know, let's just say WIP's are a part of this thread. Outlines I plan to color, like the past couple, will be included.)
