Dragon Brigade
Poetry Contest Week 1-2
Theme: “Death”
Length: No limit
Number of Entries Per Person: 1
Last Entry Date: 2 March 2008 (EST)

Notes:

(1). You cannot use an old piece and submit it. Everything needs to be new and original.

(2). Everyone who votes can vote for their three favorite poems. At the end, the titles will be counted, and whoever has the most, second most, and third most votes will be first, second, and third place respectively.

(3). Lastly, all contestants please PM me your entries when you have finished them. If you find you edit them later, don’t be afraid to send me that copy as well. It won’t bother me, just as long as you don’t change something every day. If you do that, just hold onto it until you know you’re done with it.

If you have questions or comments on anything, post them in the Discussion Topic. This thread is solely for hosting the participant’s works, and then the eventual voting.

Voting Ends: 9 March 2008

Black Mass

Black Mass fulfilling you
Slave of Darkness killing me
Get on your knee's and pray
Pray to your master
Your Dark God while I kill mine
Chosen of Death is what I am
Black Grave
I'm watching you

Set them on fire
Burn their Babylon
Swords of Fear
Staves of Pain
My weapons for killing them
Enslave their souls to set me free

Die
Die by my hand
Die
Reach the Promised Land
Die
Eat your grain of sand
Die
Blood rolling down my hand

Burning in my brain
I sense their pain
Feel it controlling me
Darkness is the new domain
Their life has faded away
Set me free
On these black wings of death

Closed Eyes

Once open eyes
Now closed by fate
Hands fall limp
Feet grow cold
Lips turn blue
Chest stops moving
Eyes open wide
Body trembles
Its last attempt
All goes dark and still
All goes cold
Once open eyes
Now closed for eternity

------------------------------------------------------------

(3)
Death, Death, oh Death
Shall I be or be shalt thou?
In vigorous claims, for we art now
Place a finger and name it ‘of Death’
And ye shall shiver upon the bequeathal of Heaven or Hell;
Transcendent promenade of souls,
Sporadic observer of woes
Thee observeth me
And loquacious tongue elapsed

Triumph

Today is the day I die.
Reality constrains,
and in these confines I am trapped.
In the ground I may lie,
But I am eternal.
Nothing may restrain me,
for I am everlasting.
Not Belial,
Nor Lucifer, nor any demon
that seeks my soul
may possess it.
For I am everlasting.
The flesh may come
and go,
but I am Immortal.
Yet my soul is only
a fractions of what it
used to be.
Only when I enter
the kingdom,
and the hands of time
are in motion,
will I find salvation.

In Front the Finale

Centered between the four damaged walls,
On an antique bed, exists a replica of an elderly man,
Of an unfortunate individual whose escaping soul, can already be sensed in the surrounding moisture.

Feeling the air probably for the last time, fighting to catch some of it’s freshness…
…Breathing is becoming painful
Rolling back and forth across the bed, struggling in his ultimate fight,
Noble like a knight, he doesn’t seem to cry,
…dignity is his last name
Sulking in vain, knowing only cold pain,
The face is pale like the white fog,
… developing like a crescendo, despair overflows

The ticking of the clock harmoniously follows the pace of the twitching fingers,
Of those fingers which only held a shovel during the life,
Envying the clock whose pointer has a couple beside.
… the stalking loneliness ripped him apart.

In his eyes, only the recently arrived moon’s rays can be admired,
The moon, which shed a radiant light on his humble home,
Paired with the sun, the only affordable light it ever was,
…poorness is tiresome.

Uncontrollable fear is being shed upon his existence,
Hoping for a sweet angel to descend, and release him from the inhuman world,
…unspoken prayers are becoming his only salvation.

Agonizing prelude of death exhaust the tortured body,
Numbness takes control over the inevitable situation,
…Breathing suddenly halts.
After the one last scream, death came and swallowed him,
Presented the eternal joy of peace, granting his last wish.
Oh, finally, a ticket to the other world has been given
To a wilted rose, whose future shelter is secured by the reproductive ground,
…right after having embraced the magical arms of the finale

John Riddler

Dancing like the flower petals
In midsummer’s highest mettle,
Singing above the lover’s passion;
Dreaming amidst the life’s quick cession.

Swooning in the solstice tide
Between the careening breeze in stride,
Calming oceans with soft breath;
Leaning in closer to life in death.

Rays besmirched and drenched with pity
Blend in cooly with dank serenity,
Pouring forth remembrances withstood;
Melancholy fragments shattered from manhood.

Passing quickly beyond the void
Shrinking quietly from the outer world,
Hiding behind a sturdy rock;
Twisted and morphed from the playful tarok.

Adolescence flees by swiftly
Life itself spent all too quickly,
Denied compensation without regret;
Life’s most present inside one’s death.
