HereI doubt this will ever happen, yet somepeople can dream right.

I also just notice that TED made a previous topic but it is closed. I think upgrading to Blu will be cool. I know PS people are gonna be like Sony's laughing all the way to the bank, but at the same time MS is laughing all the way to the bank when Sony makes a computer.
As long as its an add on I cant see any major redux. They wont have to change any lasers inside the actual xbox. Anyway if it happens I need a new 360. Mines only 720p : (.

That 'rumor' may as well be fact. MS wants to make money. Not lose it. It is crystal clear that nobody digs HD-DVD.

Add-On is the only likely thing I see happening. I really don't see it being incorporated into the system at all. It'd raise the cost and people would be like " WHY DOES THIS SYSTEM COST SO MUCH!??! ". I mean I could be wrong and they may figure out a way to curb the cost now that Blu-Ray won the format war but I don't see it being a price that people want. It'd have to be more than an elite, if not, well feel jewed with your elite.
Then again after watching Sony they'd have to know to release it at a decent price point. I know Microsoft doesn't mind shoveling out money to keep playing. But honestly I don't see them hucking the system together, looking at the prices for the consoles now, and throwing blu-ray in there and keeping it at the prices they are now unless the new model is very cheap to produce.
I dunno. I'm speculating, MS may still come out with an integrated Blu-Ray system but I don't really see it happening.
As for the add-on... Yay? Go buy a PS3 or the unlikely but possible 360 with Blu-Ray in it? I really can't see the add-on being terribly cheaper than stand-alone players unless they're made very poorly. I'll probably end up wrong but that's how I see it.

This is totally of the wall, but the add on for HD-DVD was 199$. Im guessing around the same ballpark? The cost doesnt bother me too much anyway, I can afford it one way or another.

It's possible but I believe the lowest priced stand alone player at this time is $399... Which is also the cost of a PS3.
I don't see it being that cheap. I mean it could be but it'd have to be a complete POS player. It's being made with current materials and not something planned out a year from now where that price might be feasible... But hey, I'm not saying it couldn't be that price.
Also let me tag this on. No console war ##### in this thread.

That is true, and now that you mention that I remember there is a panel of companies that are on the board for the Blu-Ray. If MS joins its more money for them right. I think membership is capped @ $50k a year.
Heres the link for BoD.
Board of DirectorsI really believe that it will come to the xbox eventually. Why not? Its gonna cost M$ money to join and plus the fee for using it and stuff.
