My friend sent me an article last night that said Square is making it's White Engine multiplatform.

http://kotaku.com/359811/square+enix-rechr...bring-it-to-wii

Post your opinions. I really don't mind, but I think this will really hurt Sony.

~Edit~
Fixed topic title.
Bloo
But FF already drifted to Microsoft few years ago lol.

FF7 and 8 is avaliable in CD for computers.

That and hopefully suiko stays for sony xD

Half of me believe that you create this topic to make someone angry lol.

pssh... ps3 prophet lol.

Lance.

The main series of Final Fantasy has remain on the Sony system since PS, not counting Final Fantasy XI.

Final Fantasy been releasing spin-offs on Nintendo systems for a number of years. Recent titles like Final Fantasy XII: RW was released on DS a couple of months back. If Final Fantasy XIII was released for X-Box 360, then that would be hurt Sony to lose the exclusive for the main series of Final Fantasy. Other than that, Square-Enix been releasing Final Fantasy spin-off games for a number of years.

I think the topic title is missleading.
That FF is multiplatform (at least compilation titles. The main numerical FF series remains on PS.) is no news. But that White Engin is no longer optimised for PS3, but will become their multi platform port standard is.

Sad news. I'm kinda getting tired of seeing ports on PS3. Developers should try getting more out of the console than just port games programed for the lowest common dominator.
Xandal
Sorry about the misleading topic, but it was more FF XIII XD Sorry!

I believe there was a rumor going around that Final Fantasy XIII was going to be released on multiple systems, but I believe that rumor was debunked months ago. I have not heard of no official announcement of the title going on another system. When it comes to the Final Fantasy series, rumors seem rampant. Projected release to delays, all end up being rumors.
Xandal
So you're saying this is probably a rumor? I could go along with that biggrin.gif

I'm under the impression this was a rumor from a couple of months ago.

If there's no official announcement from Square-Enix, then take news from other sources regarding this series with skepticism.
Bomb
Final Fantasy XIII on the Wii simply will not happen. Sorry.
Athrun
The article wasn't about FFXIII, but about the game engine that was used to develop the game.
It was optimised for PS3, but they decided to scrap it and make an engine that makes it easy to develop games for different platforms.

Square announce long ago that they'd support all formats. It's possible a compilation title of the FF XIII series will appear on X360 or Wii, like it has for Mobile.
But the main FF XIII games are most likely PS3 exclusives. Square's style isn't multi platform versions of the same game. But compilation titles spread across different platforms.
Xandal
Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. Really, I took it as FF XIII going multi-platform.

Isn't kotaku.com notorious for being full of ##### anyways?
The Evil Dead
Yeah. You're going to get your #### Crystal Chronicles again, if you're lucky. Enjoy.

Change the topic title, please. I've seen no information of this at any other confirmed source. Even if FF titles did jump to some other platforms... Who's surprised? There's DS titles, GBA titles, previously GC titles. Seeing it on the Wii isn't going to do anything.

Wow bigass suprise here dry.gif

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings anyone? or FF on mobiles?

All this tells us, square-enix know how to cash in a series even more.

Such as star ocean: 2nd story which is currently announced on japanese PSP and will most likely we never see it over here.

Also its gonna have some major happy big head, cartoon graphics.
Nash
They should release FFXIII on mobile phones only. That'd put a fitting end to the next-gen console war. tongue.gif
Mushroom
They should do FFXIII on DS, and it can be terrible like the assassin's creed game.

XD
LunarMaster
FFXIII Sidequest X confirmed for 360!

Multiplatform is good because it gets a series more exposure than staying on one platform. Besides FFXI is already on the 360 so an FF on 360 is in no way out of the question. Square-Enix is also known for whoring out it's games anyway with all the remakes and such. The shocking news would be if they jumped exclusivity back to Nintendo.
AnimePaul
I don't understand why people are surprised that Crystal Tools is compatible with the 360, Wii and PC when games designed for the 360 are ported to the PS3 all the time. Sure a engine built for the PS3 might be harder to port to another console, but it isn't impossible. Burnout Paradise was made for the PS3 and then ported to the 360, it turned out fine.
The Evil Dead
Most developers now are preferring to dev for the PS3 and then port to 360 rather than vice versa. Prevents problems from doing it the other way around ( As shown in a few PS3 titles ).
