So, i got this 80 gb hard drive so i can play ffxi, but whenever i put the disk in, this message pops up saying you need an HDD to play this game or something like that. the hard drive is connected, the network adapter is plugged in, but i still can't play it. anybody know what's up? it's not an official sony hard drive, but my buddy says there's a way to bypass that. i mean, it is an internal hard disk drive for a ps2, and it has more than 40gb. please, anybody help me.

Uhm, IIRC, the PS2 will not recognize all drives. I mean you can't just go out a buy..say a seagate 60GB and expect it to be usable on the PS2.

Yeah I think you need their official external hard drive to get that to work? Not sure though. I've just never heard of anyone using any other hard drive to play it.
