I was planning to get Wild Arms 5 and Odin Sphere as my next RPGs, but I have been considering Wild Arms 4 for quite a while now. Even though Wild Arms 5 is likely the superior of the two games, is WA4 still a good game in its own right?
It's fun to play, but the characters and plot leave much to be desired, not that Wild ARMs 5 plot was better, but it's improvement from 4. You don't need to play 4 to play 5 and since 4 likely 20 dollars, you won't be losing much money on purchasing the game. 4 will introduce you to HEX battle system, 5 will expand upon the HEX battle system further.

I haven't played WA5 so I can't compare them, but I was very dissapointed on WA4.
the Characters where not very interesting, and the same can be said about the story.
the battle system is ok, but the ability and status windows seemed confusing!

i was really disappointed with WA4. I enjoyed 3 and was really excited to try 4 but it was just boring. I would pass on it

it's it under $20, buy it. then you can finish it in a week, than return it back for your money back.

all in all, weak story, bad cast- no, the game isn't worth it. it is nice to see Rudy/Jack/Cecilia cameo as a team-attack.

Okay, I ended up getting Wild Arms 5. I'll probably just get WA4 sometime later this year. So there's no need for this topic now. x_x

I vote no, so you don't buy it later this year XD This game is freakin terrible. The battlesystem is the good aspect, but everything else is poor. Story? Poor. Characters? Poor. Ever the world, the way you explore, the dungeons? Poor. Don't play this game. Its the reason why i still haven't played V. Just too much of a burn. On the other hand, I loved 3, and still think its a superb game to this day. Play that instead ^^.

I agree. You should get WA4 only if you don't have anything else to play.

You might as well get it. I got my copy for 15 bucks. It can't be THAT #### to not be worth 15 bucks.

Man you guys really didn't like that game. I bought it last year, but haven't played it yet. Maybe I should push it to the bottom of my gaming que with all these negative statments.

If you're thinking of buying WA5, then skip WA4 and go straight to 5. I've never played 4, but 5 was outstanding, and from all reviews I've heard it's lightyears better.
So save your money and spend it on the quality WA5.

I would say no. Wild ARMS 4 is by far the worst game in the Wild ARMS series. It was just a bad game period. Terrible story and characters. The dialogue is atrocious; You'd find better on 4kids, seriously. Really, the only thing that could be considered a plus is the battle system, but that all depends on the person. I'd say Wild ARMS V is a better game, but not by that much. It seemed to ditch some of 4's problems, but it still isn't that great, aside from the cameos, and costumes. It's worth playing just for the 10th anniversary content. So, skip Wild ARMS 4, unless you can get it for cheap, or you are simply a die hard fan with time to spare.
