I am looking for a copy of Suikoden 2, US version. I would be happy to get just the disc, scratched or not. Please let me know if you have a copy to spare, and what you want for it. Thank you all in advance.
Athrun
Well I hope you have some luck with that, if anyone wants to part with their copy. But it's pretty rare tofind people who would these days.

If you do, then ask for 100-300 U.S. dollars for that copy.

Try eBay, but don't expect to find Suikoden 2 for cheap or even under 50 U.S. dollars. Be careful buying used. Though, you shouldn't need a warning about buying used.

check amazon and ebay every now and then and you might be able to find a deal. I for one am never selling my copy..

This is pretty much repeating what the others have said, but consider a price like $100 a good deal for a game like this. I managed to find a full copy (case, booklet, game, all in damn nice condition) on eBay with a BuyItNow price of $100, and to this day, I don't regret paying that price. If I didn't, I'm quite certain that the bidding would've brought the price well above that.

Last I checked, copies on Amazon went for around $125-150 and higher. A perfect copy goes for absolutely ridiculous prices. (Think: $500+) eBay can get pretty ridiculous, especially when everybody's got proxy bids set on the game, so you'll wind up having to pay much more than you want to anyway. Keep an eye out for a decent BuyItNow price, but these days, don't expect them to appear very often.

Can't really say much else about it, though, other than best of luck to you. You'll need it.

Wow, you're true on the prices. I'm just curious. I've never gotten my hands on one of the games, why is 2 so much more expensive than the others?? Is it really THAT much better than all the others??
Chalryn
Pretty much. I think I've only seen Suikoden V rated above II, and that's only been by a few people. As far as I know, the majority of the Suikoden fanbase considers II the best in the series. (I certainly do.) Take the rarity of the game (both due to production being halted and people not wanting to give up their copies) and add the quality of the game on top of that, and there's plenty of reason for it to be sold for $100+.

From what I can tell, the strategy guide is just as rare, and close to the same price often times. gah.gif

i still claim 3 as the best suikoden game smile.gif but not a debate topic so i continue..

suikoden 2 is widely considered the best but even more than that is the fact that the game is so very hard to find due to very limited quantity. so like Chal said, great game, plus limited quantity = hard to find and expensive. Though prices have dropped, used to not be able to find Suikoden 2 for less than 200.

I managed to get a complete copy for $80. either i got lucky or people 'forgot' about that auction...

i asked a friend to try to find some games at a gamestore near his dad's place. I hope he finds some... tongue.gif

@Voyou... Suikoden III is okay [haven't finished it yet], but imo- it has the weakest cast. no real standout characters, like in the previous games...

I got my NTSC copy for around £35($70) including delivery and the game is spotless, the manual looked untouched and the disc only had one tiny barely visible hairline scratch oh and the case was absolutely perfect too you'd swear it was brand new. So just keep looking you'll get lucky eventually.

And I have it <3.

Anyway, I bought Suikoden II (PAL) some time ago, as my old copy was done, wasn't playing well anymore, do it being used a lot and it got damaged due to my uncarefulness at some point. I bought mine for €80, which is equal to about 60 pound. So, I am quite chuffed with that, actually.
I need a new Suikoden I copy as well and I know my sources and am able to get a copy, for not too much, about the same price as Suikoden II, I think.

i know this topic is about suikoden 2 but for any interested.. i found suikoden 1 on half.com for 25.99

I managed to pick up a mint copy of Suikoden II (NTSC) for about £50 - including delivery - and consider myself extremely lucky to have done - and totally worth it I might add even if I did have to get up at five in the morning to get it, how sad is that, but after getting beaten four times in a row down to the damn time difference I knew it'd be the only way to get hold of it. Persistence is the name of the game with anything like this

A mint Suikoden I (again NTSC) set me back just £18 (inc P&P) so consider that a complete bargain. Though the best buy for me had to be the brand new unopened NTSC PSOne (the compact model) for a total £20 so now i'm sorted for all the NTSC PS1 games now.

But anyway props to _Pesmerga_ on the PAL purchase - I didn't see one go for less than £70 when I was buying mine and that wasn't in-particularly good condition.

whew this stuff are really rare ryt now. i do have a copy of suiko 2 but your too far hehe. im gonna borrow suiko 1 from my friend. ,can't wait
Markies
Bought mine for about $140 about 2-3 years ago. It was worth every penny. I never sell back games, but if I did, Suikoden II would probably be one of the last ones I would sell back.

I have bought many games around the 40-50 dollar amount and many more around the 80-100 dollar amount. Suikoden II was the first to almost reach $150. Unfortunately, my tastes in games go to the extremely rare games. Many of the games that I will buy in the future will be rather expensive. For example, I am just waiting to plop down $90 to buy Valkyrie Profile.

I got my PAL copy last year for 80 euro. Very luck to find that one. Someone was selling off his personal collection and I managed to get a few good titles. Good luck with finding one, but be prepared to shell out some cash. It's not cheap.
Pesmerga
About the same price I bought mine as well. I bet you got it from Marktplaats
Northawke
No, I got an earlier title from Ebay and then exchanged e-mail with the guy to see if he had any more titles I wanted. He did and he wasn't opposed to parting with his copy of Suikoden II. Near mint too. smile.gif

Hmm, you're from the U.K., yet you know about Marktplaats? Do explain. smile.gif
Pesmerga
I'm from the Netherlands, currently residing in the UK =P. Anyway, I got my Suikoden II copy from Marktplaats, so I'm quite pleased with that.
I rather go to Marktplaats than Ebay, as most things on Ebay are from (Dutch point of view) foreign.
Though, now I can order things from all over the UK as well =).
Northawke
I used to frequent Ebay when I was deep into Star Trek collecting. They had more good stuff. Now I rarely buy on Ebay or Marktplaats, really. I've got some newer sources. smile.gif

Thanks for explaining. biggrin.gif I'd love to move to the U.K. myself.

I bought Suikoden I and II from eBay yesterday. Suikoden I got me for $49.99 + $9.99 shipping, while I paid $149.99 + $14 for shipping for Suikoden II. This is the most I have ever paid for a single, complete game, Valkyrie Profile coming second with $129.99 for a mint copy.

I usually use only one seller that I've had great experiences with, and I usually know what I get when I buy from him. Lightning quick shipping, and games in extremely good condition, Suikoden II was stated as near mint.

For those of you on eBay, you should check out daveyc82. Top class seller, great items in great condition, fair prices, and it has never taken more than five days for an item to arrive here in Norway from him in Chicago, USA.

Oh, and a newbie question at the end. How does the blacksmithing thing work? I mean, how do you create stuff etc? I always hated that kinda stuff and I avoided it in Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve (with the parameters and whatnot), and I also avoided it when I played Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, but I've realised that it's a quite important feat in Suikoden, so I might aswell learn it.

Thanks
Pesmerga
The only thing you'll do in Suikoden is sharpening your weapons, or embedding them with Rune pieces.
Both of them are quite sraightforward.

You go to a Blacksmith, talk to him, pick your weapon and click ok. Done.
However, this will cost you a lot of money, especially in the end, but there are ways to solve that.

Sometimes, you'll find rune pieces, either from chests, or drops. Rune pieces can be embedded into your weapon and you'll either restore HP, or get better dmg.
I usually have Water Rune pieces on the hero, to restore his health every turn a little bit.

Anyway, in Suikoden we have 5 blacksmiths, each can go untill a certain level. In Suikoden II you need to find certain hammers, copper, silver, gold, you'll know what I mean when you see them. These hammers give your blacksmith to ability to increase the level he can go to.

It is pretty straightforward and the only reason it is important, is because you do not get other weapons, you keep your weapons throughout the game.
Nico87
Ahh, I see. Well, that sounds easy enough. Thanks for the reply!

I've let Suikoden 2 go. It's been some fun replays(about 20+) but my PS2 doesn't run the game anymore. When I bought it, it was 64$ back then. A bargain and I took care of that disc up til then. Truely, Suikoden II is perhaps the only game IMO that is worth it's now high price.
keitherboo
I got Suikoden 1 and 2 for $40 each brand new... of course I also bought them from the store when they first came out however many years ago. xd.gif
