Hi, a friend of mine has stop playing FFXI to playing WoW, well he have never going too far in the game, he have player a mithra and leveling up to max level 10 and never going far, only in gustaberg, be he told me he have seen one of his friend playing level 50 and seeing others region and didnt think that's enough fun to continue playing.

Here is the reasons:
1) too much mobs are looking like the same each other. You have a sapling at level 2 and you could get a sapling at level 45, there are too much same mobs, lot of goblins, always the same, just the name change as for the sapling and other race of mobs, only the name change and the difficulty level.

2) things are too expensive at the auction house, if you just want to buy some decoration for you mog house you have to be rich

3) you have to pay an extra if you want to create a second character, for each character extra you have to pay, in Wow you can create any number of character withtout any extra

4) you cannot solo in FFXI, too hard, he say peoples drop ffxi to play wow, on server of wow it have more than 6000 players online and many times servers are full you have to wait vs ffxi you have max 2000 players on a server usually

5) in ffxi you can't jump! and can't swim, that's not realistic

6) in ffxi if you get aggro the mob will chase you until you zone it

So do you prefer WoW of FFXI ? ^^

I prefer FFXI, who need to jump and swim ?

Only because I like FFXI's setting. WoW is too "lore-ish" for my tastes. But your friend is spot on with those reasons. It's generally the same as those who've left FFXI. There's unique monsters but only in CoP, TOAU and WoTG areas.

And the game is held back by the PS2 version. Some things SE cannot update because of the console.

I agree that there are not enough FFXI vs WoW threads.

he made the right choices. Fantasy XI was just too bland and boring at times where i think WoW gives alittle more variety.

Some of those reasons seem a bit stupid though. Particularly 1 and 2, because in WoW the variety of mobs isn't so fantastic either, it's either a spider an ogre a dragonkin or one of the beasties. There are others, but I don't think it's THAT great a variety.

Number 2 as well, because on my servers at least, Frostmourne and Onyxia, the AH prices for everything are complete bs. I've seen people trying to sell linen cloth 20g a stack, the 22 slot bags for 150+, Upwards of 10g a piece for some LW items, Heart of Flame for example, etc.

The rest though he has a fairly good point. Though, WoW is impossible to solo to on a complete level, but generally you can make it good alone. The aggro thing in FFXI is annoying, and I like being able to make extra characters on WoW for no charge.

I got one thing to say...

you got to much freedom in FFXI
let me explain

when I tried it out I thought it would be fun to play all the classes, job and so, I learned soon it wasn't.

* it felt like I was forced to do all the jobs to be able to create something (and that is after one had spent hours getting the few things needed) unless you wanted to buy the thing from some one else, and here it is as you said, it's to expensive.

People know how much hard work there is and put the price thereafter!

* classes with subclasses sounded as a good idea, but it felt like I lost some soul in my character when I just could switch classes almost anytime I wanted.

* and last there was the fighting, decent system, but irritating to spend hours to find a party (if one wasn't lucky and stumble upon a ready group at once, once in 10´000, or was a white mage)

+ boring monsters and hard to get story-line!

saddly as a FF-fan I have to say WoW is greater in my eyes
