Dragon Brigade
I have a somewhat random question for you all. Apparently there has been the news that a Tales of Legendia sequel has been in production (Sword of Legendia) for the Wii (this is from 2006, haha...I’m two years late here), but there hasn’t been any news on it since then. Can anyone confirm if it was just a rumor, or if it just is going slowly in production? I just found out about it right now, so I have no idea what’s going on, haha. There isn’t much info on the game other than it’s being developed by Namco-Bandai and it’s for the Wii.

So yeah, I’m just curious if this was a flop, or if they were actually going to make it/are making it. I think it'd be great if it got finished, but like I said, I know virtually zilch about it as there aren't many sites I can find that even give details about it, really...

I never heard of this game. But a Legendia sequel would be awesome if it gets ported to PS3. All I ask, game-wise, is that it takes place on the mainland rather than just the Legacy.

A Tales sequel, without "Tales" in its title? ohmy.gif
Dragon Brigade
Hmm. I went to their site (Namco-Bandai), but I didn’t see mention of this game in the news or anywhere, really. I’d assume they probably dropped the project, considering Tales of Vesperia and ToS2 are coming out relatively soon (and since news of this game is so old now...2+ years-ish). Or maybe they didn’t drop it, I don’t know. I guess if they ever get going on it and more info is released, I’ll post it here. It says on ign and a couple other places it’s supposed to be released for the Wii, and a release date is tba (for Japan...), so yeah...Not too sure about this one, haha...

I agree, haha. A Tales game without “Tales of” in its title is very peculiar. They need to stick to tradition when they finalize the game (if ever >.o). =(.

I remember reading about this myself back at the end of 2006 when I was trying to find a release date for a PAL version of TotA - at the time i didn't pay it much attention as I was too busy with TotA. Heard it about again around the time of the announcement of ToS : DotNW as fans were complaining about getting another game in the Iselia timeline and would rather have seen this 'Sword of Legendia'

It took me a while but finally found the screenshot that has convinced people its a sequel to ToL

Supposedly this is meant to be Chloe, though depicted in a different art style, whether this is because a different designer is in charge of the game or it is a completely different character remains unknown, and while I see the resemblance you could make similar comments about the lead in ToV looking a bit like Tear - if we didn't already know better I wouldn't be surprised to see rumours of ToV being a distant sequel to abyss for from the one piece of artwork alone.

And as DB has said its still down as a TBA over in japan but is still on namco's working titles list as can be seen here along side ToS:DotNW
Dragon Brigade
That is some of the best news I’ve heard today. As long as it stays on their “working projects” list, I’ll be happy. It’d be even better if, when the game is finished, that it gets sold outside of Japan, haha...

With the way things are now, I'm considering this title to be vaporware. But I'll be glad to be proven wrong and it turns out to be the sequel of ToL. smile.gif

This is actually not a real tlaes game..
Dragon Brigade
Just checked back on Sword of Legendia and it's not a Tales game, as was previously stated. Thought I'd post this up just so you all know (or at least so that all of you, like me, who didn't know now know). =).

QUOTE
Swords of Legendia is a role-playing game published by Namco Bandai Games, for the Wii. The game is confirmed to not be part of the Tales series.

Swords of Legendia was revealed during the Wii's preview event on September 13, 2006.

Around that same period, there was a video on the Wii's Japanese website showing various interviews with developers, one of which, was with Makoto Yoshizumi, who was a producer of the original Tales of Symphonia. He was discussing about the controller, and he then showed a single piece of artwork. The game however was unheard of since then, leading many to believe the game was quietly cancelled.

However, the game was still listed on Namco's Japanese website in their Wii games section, even after (and is currently listed alongside with) Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World was revealed back in 2007.

Finally, after the long quiet period, Tsutomu Gouda confirmed on April 16, 2008 that he is in charge of the game, as well as that development is proceeding, and finally that the game is not part of the Tales series.
