Another Sonic game to get disappointed over.

The graphics look good but I'm not sure about the gameplay. There hasn't been a good Sonic game since Sonic Adventure so I don't have high hopes for this one.
The Evil Dead
I've read rumor that those may not be official screens if they're the ones I saw over at joystiq. Or maybe I misread it... Who knows.

I say keep us posted man. From what they're saying though, they're trying extremely hard to make Sonic finally work in 3D. I'm all about it personally because I love Sonic and have been disappointed with the 3D titles for some time.

Make it work, damnit.

Yeah the pics seem to be confirmed.

These first 15 screens have been confirmed by Sonic Team.

According to Sonic Stadium, these shots have been confirmed to be images for the upcoming Sonic game. Information relayed in the Sonic Stadium article linked below also mentions that Sonic will be turning into a werewolf as a result of some trickery done by Eggman. A brand new character will be introduced as well in the game.

Sonic The Warewolf?
And it seems to be a pretty big project.

According to website SEGA ON, Sonic Unleashed is actually a big-budgeted project...scratch that, a HUGELY budgeted project made in collaboration with the Sonic Team and other Sega development teams.

And how big, you ask? When SEGA ON mentioned the Sega developer teams involved, they referred to the several teams from across the world: Japan, U.S., and even Europe. The website also revealed their mission: "Rebuild the Sonic brand and prove it could work in 3D environments."

It sounds like they realised that something drastic needs to be done about the Sonic games. Hopefully this huge collaboration and effore they're putting into the game will give good results.
I guess I should be a bit more optimistic about this game then.

I'm still someone hoping that Sega will finally make a good Sonic 3-D game, at least as good as the first Adventure game was.

Though, this thread has reminded me that I need to try out of the Sonic DS games sooner or later.
The Evil Dead
Cool beans, thanks for the heads up. It was just some crap I was reading I think yesterday or something.
LunarMaster
Looks good, but the look has never been the problem with the newer Sonic games. If they can just keep the gameplay 2.5D with a great sense of speed, I'm sold. I'm going to remain skeptical until further info is released.

Its gonna suck, ##### Sonic Team.

There hasn't been a good Sonic game since Sonic and Knuckles so I don't have high hopes for this one.

Yes I had to be a bastard and fix that.

For great justice and all.

But seriously though, Mario has had some good games for an oldie. Some glory needs to be restored to Sonic :/.

Actually, the latest Sonic on 360/PS3 was definitely a fun game, and on par if not better than SA, except... the loading times ruined it. Load times of up to 20+ seconds before levels or even small mini-missions completely slaughtered any fun I could've had with it. If they had fixed the loading times though, it would've been an awesome game.

But yeah, bigger budgets means bigger potential, so hopefully it's done right this time. I'm also hoping to see Shadow return, but either way, they have some making up to do.

Lotsa new screens.
Props for the architect who built a giant loop right in the middle of a village.

I barely have any faith in this game, I'm not getting my hopes up, but considering the game might actually have 2D gameplay, it might have some promise.

Also Rumor alert - word is the Sonic Rush team is somehow involved in the development.

If true, there's some degree of hope.

trailer for those who haven't seen it yet.

Certainly looks that the game is quickpaced again and it looks like the gameplay is now a combination of 2D and 3D.

Sonic 3 with the Knuckles attachment was the Shizts. SA is probably the best 3D one to date. I hope they can restore the glory days of the Sonic.

The trailer looks like fun, and a bit hopeful this time around. The huge problem that the newer Sonic games always had were glitches, and I hope to God that they fixed it this time. I think that the 2-D route makes a lot of sense actually. The last Sonic game I played was Sonic Heroes, and one of the biggest complaints I had about the game was how ridiculously easy it was to die. (Aside from all the other problems with the game.) Making the game more 2-D will probably fix that.

I am not digging the Werewolf thing though. I just have a hard time seeing that work.

Sonic Unleashed first gameplay video

The game looks like it might be fun. The speed is certainly good at least.
Don't mind the jerks that cover the screen. They're just protesting about the werewolf thing.
Bloo
2D sonic is always the best =)

Gamesmaster had a preview of this game last month, and they reproted the day time segments had some questionable framerate issues, and that the night time segments have horrendous framerate issues. I would hope thats because the game isn't finished, but you probably wouldn't give someone a build to play thats virtually unplayable. I'd get my hopes up, but its 3-D sonic; its never delivered before.
