This will be the discussion topic for the theme battle between Laguna and myself. =).
Theme: Harry Potter
Size: No bigger than 570 x 375
Due: 13 April 2008
Edit: Well, we both finished early, so here are the pieces. Wonderful job as always, Laguna. =).
Only a little over a week left. Looking forward to seeing the finished pieces.

Looks kinda like Bellatrix Lestrange to me... Regardless of who it is though the overall "flow" of the sig is better. Like, you look at it and it's pleasing to the eye, whereas mine is much more complex/detailed.
What I mean is, I took a BUNCH of diff Harry Potter pictures and used a bunch of photoshop effects to blend them together, but it's not noticable upon first looko, you really have to STUDY the sig to see it. And tht's not what a sig is supposed to do. Here's what I mean:
My sig is a picture of Harry releasing his Patronum the Stag. Now in the bottom left corner you can see a figure and then in the middle of the sig is this brilliant burst of light. Emerging from the blast if you look closely is the stag (looks kinda like a moose). And finally, he's aiming it at some shadowed demenstors, (Some of those black figures are actual cutouts of the Dementors just layered in black). I used a lot of glow effects, pen tool, gradients, and layers to achieve the bright blast of energy, but its really not noticeable unless you study it.
At the time the sig looked nice, but in hindsight it really defeats the purpose of it.

My piece has Voldemort to the left (not supposed to jump out) and Bellatrix in the "middle" (more so to the left, but whatever), and I'm actually noticing a bit of abstract reference to the right, but since it wasn't intended (nor do I think anyone else will see it as it is quite abstract), I'm not going to go trying to delve into that, haha. If anyone finds anything besides red/green/gold texturing, that's wonderful. =p.
Anyway, continuing on here, I was originally going to use one of Bellatrix with her wand (ie: scene where Sirius dies), but nothing worked out (sig sizes too small height-wise for me to get anything clear or good with the image I was using). I didn’t really want it to look too grungy either, but since I’m still new(ish) to Photoshop, I just had to take what I could make, and that's what it came out as. Oh well.
So yeah, I really do like yours Laguna. It does require one to look at it to understand it, but that’s what I like about it. There’s so much more depth to yours then mine. Really good work, as I said before. =).

Well, for looks I'd say the second piece is the best. Extremely dark and grungy and that is what I like.
Theme wise, I think the first one is better, as Harry Potter ain't dark and grungy, but stupid and kiddy.
So, if it were a battle of sigs, the second one would get my vote, but this is a theme battle and therefore I vote for number 1. =)

I voted for the first one because it relates most to Harry Potter. I'm afraid I'm not a huge fan so I don't know the characters too well or anything, but I wouldn't be able to tell the second one was Harry Potter related unless I was told before hand. The text in the first one helps it out a lot in that respect.

It’s been a week, so I shall “close” this from voting. I apologize also for forgetting to give a set end-date for that this as well. >.o..
Laguna is the esteemed winner, with seven votes. =).
