QUOTE (Apple Trailers)
A 21st Century American teenager takes a spellbinding, dangerous journey into martial arts legend in the new action/adventure epic FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. Shot on location in China, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM marks the historic first-ever onscreen pairing of martial arts superstars Jackie Chan (RUSH HOUR, DRUNKEN MASTER) and Jet Li (FEARLESS, ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA), and features the awe-inspiring action choreography of Wo Ping (THE MATRIX, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON). While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason (played by Michael Angarano - “24”, “Will and Grace,” LORDS OF DOGTOWN, SEABISCUIT) makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk (Jet Li). But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.
Take note that the movie is based on the novel "Journey to the west".
===================
H'okay, I know there was a recent topic made before. but now the movie is out, I thought I'd make another topic with all the info and for people who have seen the movie.
UK doesn't get the movie until frickin' July - JULY! - which I think is seriously stupid dude, Russia gets it before the UK!? >_> I'll most likely get my cousin to send me a VCD copy of the movie, this is why asian cinema isn't as big in the UK as the US is.
Anyways, when I heard that Jackie Chan and Jet Li were going to star in a movie together, my first thought was meh. Ever since I found out its based in the ancient China time period I really want to see it ~! ;D I'm happy that its set in ancient China (the old raggy clothes, the heavy gold armour, wooden sticks as weapons <3333 it makes me miss the good old chinese drama with that setting), it just fits more with Kung Fu and it actually makes Jet Li look better than when he's in a present time movie doing kung fu (hence why I like him in Wong Fei Hung and Fearless). The only thing that I find sucky about the movie, is the fact that they're speaking english... people in those days would SO not be able to speak english =_= unless they were rich and had lessons... but even then, the time period is still alittle unsuited, but whatever (it's a movie!).
