With Bungie busy elsewhere, Microsoft looks to pad Jackson's Halo team.

There hasn't been much news on it lately, but it seems Peter Jackson's Halo videogame project is, in fact, still alive. MTV Multiplayer picked up on a few job listings on Microsoft's careers page looking to add members to Jackson's development team, including a Creative Director, Producer, and Game Engineers.
Microsoft confirmed with MTV Multiplayer that the job listings were for Jackson's Halo project, sending them an official statement. "A Peter Jackson-helmed Halo project was announced at X06 in Barcelona," said the Microsoft spokesperson. "Since then, Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of that project. At this time, it's necessary to grow the internal team to keep pace with development. Bungie will continue to remain involved in multiple aspects of the Halo Universe with MGS."
It's worth noting that this new team would be working within Microsoft's Redmond, Washington offices, and not within Bungie -- creating, as MTV Multiplayer calls it, a "new Halo development team." While Bungie is involved in Jackson's Halo project, they've suggested their next internal project will be outside the Halo universe.
As the official statement points out, it was first announced back in 2006 that Peter Jackson -- would-be executive producer for the never-to-be Halo film adaptation -- would work with Bungie and Microsoft to develop a game in the Halo universe. We found out at the 2007 Game Developers Conference that Jackson's Halo game would be episodic, but updates on the project have otherwise been slim. There's still no word on when Microsoft expects the project to be released.
