There will be spoilers. You have been warned.

Actually, I find that I pitied him in the end more then hate him.

*Spoilers*The scene of the fire flies amulet. Where Shu tricked him to divert his attention... And arrows away.*Spoilers* At the end of the game he finally showed his fear. His fear of being afraid.

Just because of his childhood. The craving for power, strength and authority. Ends up he lost everything. Actually I think if Riou have a chance, he would definitely give Luca another chance.

So yeah.. I don't hate him. I really pity him lol...

What do you think then?
Markies
For me, I have the hardest debate between Luca Blight & Kefka. They are both fantastic villians and are completely evil. It's hard to choose as to which is the better villian as they are just so perfect as villians.

Luca gave me the strange feeling of wanting to kill him. When I was fighting him, I didn't just want to beat him or the game. I want to kill him. I wanted to put a sword through him. He was a bastard through and through. His arrogance, no sympathy to any other person in the world and the fact that he was a maniacal killer just made me hate him anymore. Plus, he was a normal human being. He wasn't a vengeful god or an evil being locked away for millions of years or some mythical/magical force bent on destruction. He was just an awful human being that needed to die.

This is exactly how I feel about him. I can't put it into words any better than what Markies just said. I was glad when the bastard finally died. And as I've said before, his last words -in which he's praising myself- really spoiled the fun of finishing him off. Nonetheless, good riddance is the only thing I can say about him.

Best villain. FACT

I have yet to come across a villain with such an ego, so much passion in his killing, so manical, so mad and such a bastard.
Konami did a wonderful job on him, they made a mad murder machine that is nearly impossible to stop. Well, 18 characters, poisoned arrows and another duel did, which is seriously A LOT you need to take him out.

I want more villains like Luca!
Chalryn
I love Luca for the same reason I love characters like Light Yagami, Kefka Palazzo, Kenpachi Zaraki and Lezard Valeth: He's insane, haha. That, and he's an absolute beast (more on the side of Kenpachi, for that characteristic). Sure, I despise him simply for being such a ruthless bastard, but since this is a villain we're talking about here, that's also an appealing point. His background... doesn't hold all that much significance to me, but it's nice to have there, so that Luca's actually got some sort of turning point in his life that made him who he is.

Back to the note of him being a beast: Anyone who can charge his way through three ambushes with a handful of arrows sticking out of him, and then have a duel with an army's leader after being showered with even more arrows, is an awesome character in my opinion. (Specifically considering he is human.)
Athrun
I thought he was a great villain. One of the best. As mentioned by Markies, he was just a human, and I find that to be a big plus in a genre where almost every villain is the cliche supernatural type. He didn't even have a true rune, which made him all the more impressive. You could say that he represents a realistic portraial of a villain that could be taken straight from our own world. (Well almost, because he took 10 arrows and was still standing and it wouldn't be fun if there wasn't anything fictional about him.)

He was also different in that he died halfway through the game, and the game switched to a new antagonist. It's not very often that one that could be concidered the main villain does that.
I really like how he burnt down and occupied village after village. It made you feel a sense of urgency all the time. And "Die pig!" is one of my most memorable rpg villain scenes. It doesn't get much more evil than that.
Sigs Minock
i'm with Athrun... as a human and as a villian he was a damn good one. consider he went through three teams before being ambushed by the hero.

Luca was a madman and psychopath in the truest sense... and was a truly memorable villain. other than that 'one-winged' pansy in that one game.
Valince
Yea the poor guy wanted revenge.. however he went about it the wrong way. I guess I should pity him because his own revenge later on was extracted against him via Jowy. Afterall it was Highland that betrayed Jowy. Spoiler highlight.

THIS CANNOT BE ARGUED.
Nash
Such a (supposedly) awesome villain lost to such a wimp named Jowy Atreides. FACT

Thank the Runes that I hated Shu more. wub.gif

I'd take Dahlia Hawthorne any day.

How can anyone hate Shu =3

He is so brilliant. =p

Luca Blight is the most horrible villain ever created. Shu is the dumbest sh*t I've ever seen. Suikoden 2 is the most garbage game in the world.

A little extreme there don't you think? Lol. Suikoden II is the greatest game created ever! =]

Try to elaborate on why is he horribly created?
Athrun
I think it's called obvious sarcasm. wink.gif
LagunaWannabe
hahah definitely sarcastic, every1 in this thread knows I love Suik2 and Luca, I compare all my other villains to him in terms of motives, hate factor, and actual villainy.

And Suik2 is not my fav game by a long shot, but definitely a high quality RPG

xD Haha. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Silly me =p

Lol... I was like. Didn't LagWan like SII as much as all of us here? So yeah, was a little confused back then xD

I just wanted to see the response to what happens if you flame a REALLY GOOD villain. Cause I know if u were to flame a crappy villain, like Sephiroth, well I'd get my head chopped off by some fanatics
Northawke
I too feel he's one of the greatest villians ever. You just feel a sense of urgency and hatred while fighting him. And he's so out there and yet still a human character and understandable in ways.
Hoodman
I admired him, though I agree I absolutely wanted him dead, I found to be quite entertaining and a very worthy adversary to my Suiko 2 fighters. It was dealing with a worthy foe, as you have to do quite a lot to fight him. I felt much resolve when I finally killed him. Suiko 2 has a wonderful cast of villians, from those who betray and the betrayed, the absolute evil, those who fight for their beliefs, and those who fight for their duty. They definitely attribute to the greatness of Suiko 2, there as interesting if not more interesting than your main stars.

You have to love Luca. Konami really outdid themselves with this guy. He made you hate him early and often. From the moment you saw him in the opening demo where he's litterally standing on the pile of corpses, laughing mind you, you know he ain't wrapped tight in any sense of the word. When I saw him not only slaughter my brigade just to start the war back up but torture those people and make that woman act like a pig, I knew then that I had to kill this guy.

Lets not even get into the horror of the Beast rune in Muse. It was almost like, right when you got to apoint where you were starting to forget how twisted and evil he was, he did something new to bring it back up in your mind and renew that hatred.

I've read through some other posts on here and have to agree with a few. Someone mentioned how he's on par with guys like Kenpachi from Bleach. I think Luca and Kenpachi would have had drinks and been sparing buddies (>.> now THATS a picture idea if I EVER heard one) And yes, knowing the whole time taht this guy is completly human, that just makes it even more terrifying when he takes that beating in the end and keeps on walking.

18 people, 25-30 arrows (counted once) and a duel after all that...man, I was praying someone didn't resurrect him with magical powers cause then...THEN he would have just ran through your team. Not neccisarily cause he was stronger than you, just cause you'd would have been too freaked out to fight him when you saw him get back up.

In short, Luca is in my top 3 list of best video game villians of all time.
Pesmerga
How about he ran all the way to the Matilda border with his army, just to kill refugees x'D.

"DIE PIG"!!! Classic slaughter line. Surprised nobody mentioned it yet.

If we're going to quote, I think his last quote is still the best one:

"It took hundreds to kill me but I killed humans by the thousands. I am sublime!!! I am the true face of evil!!!!"
Valince
I thought the South Window raid with Jhee was overkill, but that's Luca for ya.
Bloo
I thinks its his laugh that make me dislike him =p

"Hee hee hee, ho ho ho" you know, it really sounds like a kid laughing, yet so sinister and childish and evil xDDD

Really ODD!

Edit: It makes him sounds like his enjoying, like toys, which he obviously does. That makes me dislike him more I guess.

But I still pity him more then dislike him.

Lol.

Agreed. I always loved that line, and still feel it perfectly shows just what kind of maniac he was.
The "true face of evil," indeed. The bastard didn't regret a single one of his actions, and was cocky about it all right to his last words.

Yea well...no one can really touch Kefka in the laugh department. I mean, not only was his laugh the first audiable laugh ever in gaming history (to my knowledge at least) it was so damn creepy. And I noticed one very important thing about that laugh: Everytime you heard it you could be assured that at least 1 of 3 things was gonna happen

1) Someone was gonna die
2) You were gonna get screwed
3) Something to help you want him dead even more was about to happen.(>.> poison my favorte characters wife and kid will ya... ##### bastard...)

But I digress, this isn't a Kefka thread, its a Luca. While his laughing text wasn't really all that menicing, I think you would have felt a bit cheap if they had went the classic " I am evil, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH" route. By giving him an...off beat laugh, you could say they were adding to his individuality.

So, to sum this thread up.
Xerno, stfu =P.
