It does look pretty damn awesome. A new twist on on the First-Person genre? Count me in.
P.S. This 'EA' published game is multiplatform for PC/PS3/X360. It Should go in General Games.

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/05/18/mirror...es-ps3s-quirks/An interview with Mirror's Edge devs, DICE, has swept onto the internet and we're collecting the information to relay back to you. The title is multiplatform, but was showcased only at the PlayStation Day event. DICE's general manager, Sean Decker, explained it was because Sony has been a great partner and developing on the PS3 gives them a lot of little quirks to work with (Sixaxis balances Faith, Cell helps push higher texture resolutions). This is interesting because Decker goes on to explain how each version of the game (PS3, 360, PC) will be different -- imagine, a developer taking the time to tweak a game to perform optimally on each platform.
The developers are aiming for a 720p experience across all platforms, to keep a super-smooth frame rate at all times. There's not going to be any user interface in the game whatsoever other than a dot in the middle of the screen, a "focus point" for players, which will minimize motion sickness for those susceptible to such an ailment.
The game isn't about combat, Decker explains, but about movement. Even when you get a weapon, it's more of a tool to get through an obstacle than to take out other people. Any online elements are being kept secret until summer (E3, we presume), along with information on any sort of demo. No release date yet, but that's also going to get discussed this summer. We'll keep looking.

The game looks sweet, and I can't wait to pick it up. I've been looking forward to this since the first teaser was shown (I can't remember the date, but I've been eating up all the info on it I could find since then). I love the incorporation of free running, and a world that allows you to do just that.
It looks like the game is going to have a great feel to it, but the controls absolutely must be tight for this one. I'll be really disappointed if the controls are sloppy, because it looks like this could be an amazing game.

A - #####' - Men.
I'm interested from what I've read. The idea that it's an FPS but that you're not going around blowing the ##### out of everything in the process sounds interesting. We'll see how it turns out. The trailer is very promising and honestly I love DICE ( Battlefield ftw ) so I don't see how this can turn out to be anything but badass.

Was anybody else shocked that hte main character is a girl?? not sexist or anthing, but all the Parkour people I've seen on youtube and stuff were guys, and the trailer is mostly from 1st person point of view so i didnt even think about gender i jsut assumed it was a guy. Then at the end when the camera spans to her i was like.. whos that? Ohhhh, main charater? woah

It's looking really nice if you ask me. I'm really starting to like the whole first-person aspect to it. Usually I'm not a fan of it in games (can't stand it in racing games or shooters, but it doesn't look that bad here). It'd be fun just to jump from building to building, haha...=).

I admit it looks good, but I'll wait for more gameplay trailers to judge. It does bring a new perspective in FPS genre but I don't know, it looks eye-candy on the outside but the question is what will it be like inside...

It looks nice, but I'm skeptical about the perspective. Even though you'd technically want to experience a game like this from the characters perspective, the first person view has never worked for me when it comes to kicks and punches and movement like this. It just feels awkward, and I always switch to third person view if possible. But I hope this game makes it feel good, because it certainly looks nice.

We don't know much about the story of Mirror's Edge, other than it's written by Heavenly Sword and Overlord's Rhianna Pratchett. EA has today announced that a prequel comic is in production in collaboration with DC Comics, to elucidate the pre-game story and get some more hype for the game going. As if it needs it.
The first issue of the series, which will be written by Rhianna Pratchett along with the game, is available exclusively at Comic Con. So if you're in the San Diego area, stop by booth 5233 at the convention to grab the comic and try out the game first hand. Even if you don't enjoy it, issue 1 will probably sell quite well on ebay. If you do make it to the show, make sure you stop by the PlayStation booth too, for lots more hands-on gaming opportunities.

I haven't found any rough release date. It only says TBA for now. Not sure how far into development it is either, so it's hard to guess.

It kind of looks like to me that they just took a third person view puzzle game and put it in first person form. It's an interesting idea, but the only innovative thing I see about it is the perspective. I hope it works well. I do have to wonder if this game is at all inspired by Portal, which we know at heart is another FPS Puzzle game. The architecture in the game seems to have a lot of white or other solid colors like Portal did, along with highlighting the hints (in this case with colors) to help you get through the obstacles of each level.
So, does this mean that EA is actually making something groundbreaking, and orginal for a change.

When I first read an article on Mirror's Edge in a gaming magazine, it piqued my curiousity. It's definitely something I am going to look into - and possibly purchase or rent. It looks great, I just hope it has solid gameplay and replayability to back it up.

Mm, well I think they're taking alot of pride in the perspective obviously, but also the physics and the use of momentum, so depending how successful that is, the amount of innovation here will be debateable. Thats something that will ned to be played to determined though

so fingers crossed.

Finally a parkour game that looks good. I saw the trailer at the E3 and it looked very interesting.
Despite that fighting in first person view feels strange, the whole first person parkour thing looks quite nifty.

EA are making quite the effort to bring us decent games and they're mostly delivering lately even their sports games are getting better. Dead Space is another great looking game. Plus with buying out Bioware/Pandemic which are giving us games like Mercenaries 2, Dragon Age and future Mass Effect titles, I'm expecting nothing less than awesome games in the next few years from EA.

Ya, EA took the p#ss for a long time, but it looks like it was worth it. With the $ they've no doubt made on their countless sports games, they're putting it into games like mirror's edge and dead space, which are both first day buys for me. I think we've reach a point where the originality prod towards EA is invalid. Not that I ever expected to like what EA has to offer, but its true.

Sorry to double post, but some good news for Sony fans:
QUOTE
Sony's PlayStation 3 is to receive exclusive downloadable content for EA's forthcoming first-person free-running game Mirror's Edge, according to a recent report from Eurogamer.
The news comes after a German site misreported that Mirror's Edge would be a timed PlayStation 3 exclusive – and in moving to clarify the story, Sony revealed that while it would be released on multiple platforms simultaneously, the PlayStation 3 will be receiving exclusive downloadable content.
We're awaiting further details from both EA and the games developer DICE, though Sony has confirmed the story.
"The game is multi-platform, although PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title," said an official statement, "and exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network."
UPDATE: EA has got back to us, saying that they are not yet in a position to talk about any downloadable content for Mirror's Edge - so it looks as if Sony has jumped the gun on this announcement. We'll keep you informed of any developments as they happen.

Good stuff. The 360 has been getting this kind of stuff for a long time and while DLC doesn't bother me a whole lot (i think anything that matters show be in the game in the first place) I definetly can't complain, and its just another good sign for the PS3, especially with such a good looking game. I also see IGN has updated the release date to say November 11th, so we'll see it by the end of the year

It would be good, but that last updated paragraph says Sony may have jumped the gun since EA won't confirm anything yet. It'll probably happen though just sounds like someone from Sony may have opened their gobs a bit too soon.

Any ideas towards what the DLC might be? It seems to be the kind of game you can't really add stuff into the levels that pre-exist, so I'm guess it'll be new levels or something. With first person games you usually think multiplayer maps, but I can't see this game working with multiplayer. Who knows though. I'm just psyched for the game in general.
I also can't see sony's statment affecting the deal. They were asked and they had an official statement to aswer with, while EA don't yet. This is how leaks happen, but I can't see it deal-breaking, EA and Sony will likely just wait til TGS for a proper announcement.

It'll probably be extra levels and possibly an expanded storyline or side-story, so hopefully it'll be more of a significant expansion of the game like what Bethesda are doing for Fallout 3 (and did for Oblivion) or Rockstar for GTA 4 because the PS3 needs some exclusive DLC for a change.

could be another playable character or extra missions.

Another character would be cool, if they had a noticeably different weight and speed which affects the way they would have to go through the levels.

Double post I know, but here's an update on the game, and probably the most in-depth hands on I've read so far:
CLICKSounds awesome. Just really really awesome. Seriously, when has the fall/winter been this stacked with such a varied amount of games? Maybe my memory is just poor, but this year seems so big and so much on offer, and this is definetely at the top of my list. I'm glad the guy noted the game is not easy; too often games are a walk through these days, but this sounds good, a challenge, with quite alot of options in terms of tranversing the levels. F#ck yes.

Release date for Xbox 360 and PS3 (PC undecided yet): November 11.
