In what sounds like a sort of spiritual sequel to Namco X Capcom, the two named companies as well as new friends Gust, Nippon Ichi, and Idea Factory will be joining forces to create Cross Edge for PS3. Compile Heart will be handling development.
The story takes place in a world which stays alive by eating the souls of other worlds, which eventually destroys them. It’s the Wal-Mart of worlds.
Two main areas in the game include the underworld and the dream world. The former is populated by characters from Capcom’s Darkstalkers series and Nippon Ichi’s Disgaea, perhaps among others, while the latter’s citizens are comprised of characters from Gust franchises such as Ar Tonelico and Atelier Marie.
In battle, the player is given a certain amount of Action Points, which set the limit as to how much action the player can take. Not much is yet known about exactly how it will work.
Currently projected to arrive in Japan this September, expect more characters to be revealed gradually, as well as a few more notes about the actual gameplay.

Since Chaos Wars manage to make it the U.S., I do have hope that Cross Edge can make it to the U.S., too.
I'm pick this game up, if it did manage to make it to U.S. I could import since PS3 region free, but I rarely complete a game if I don't understand what's going on.

Just read about this early on today, definitely like the sound and look of the the game - hopefully we'll see a release but judging by the confirmed character list so far...
QUOTE (RPGFan.com)
Mue (Spectral Souls)
Marie (Atelier Marie)
Roze (Mana Khemia 2)
Liliane (Mana Khemia 2)
Morrigan (Darkstalkers)
Felicia (Darkstalkers)
Demitri (Darkstalkers)
Etna (Disgaea)
Prinny (Disgaea)
Aurica (Ar tonelico)
Misha (Ar tonelico)
Shurelia (Ar tonelico)
...with Mana Khemia 2 on the list would seem to make the release of this seem a little less probable. With a little bit of luck it'll turn out to be me being pessimistic again.

The game looks awesome and of course I'll be buying it unless it somehow turns out to be complete crap. I highly doubt it, considering who is behind it.

Also for Chaos Wars ... It's been released? I haven't seen it anywhere.

Chaos Wars was a mere warm up in Idea Factory mashups. Lahar Sama dropped us a line (thanks!!) about another merger between worlds from Compile Heart and Cross Edge (aka X-Edge) unites even more characters. Souls from Disgaea, Darkstalkers, Mana Khemia, Atelier Marie, Spectral Souls and Ar Tonelico will collide for the first time on the PlayStation 3. Your job is to set them free with protagonist Yuuto Kannagi (he’s wearing the orange shades) and heroine Mikoto Aiba (she has green hair).
Here is a list of announced characters in Cross Edge thus far:
Disgaea (part of the Underworld)Etna
Prinny
Darkstalkers (part of the Underworld)Morrigan
Felicia
Demitri
Ar Tonelico (part of the Dreamworld)Aurica
Misha
Shurelia
Mana Khemia 2Roze
Lillane
Atelier series (part of the Dreamworld)Marie
Spectral SoulsMue

The heart of the Cross Edge is turn based combat through the Direct Action Turn Battle system where players use attacks assigned to the four face buttons of the PlayStation 3 controller. Each character gets a player customized move set and each move consumes AP. Chain up enough strikes and you can unleash a powerful finishing move.

When you free souls in Cross Edge you unlock form changes, which are essentially costumes with different stats. Compile Heart will release Cross Edge in Japan this September and at this time no North American release has been announced. However, there is one company that has a relationship with all, but one of the affiliated licenses in Cross Edge. NIS America is also starting to publish PlayStation 3 games in North America too…

Look you're usually a cool guy and stuff, but I gotta tell you, this sentence or yours doesn't make any sense.
I'm not asking as a toolshack, asking as a serious dude just looking for the answer to a question: are you trying to show some kind of contradiction? "But" and "yet" function this way, and you decided to use them both here, but I can see only consistency, not a contradiction.
Ar Tonelico 2: currently Japan-only
X-Edge: Currently Japan-only
And who is "they?" Are "they" the same people that are "releasing all that?" Because I can't think of any group that is both.
I'm not trying to be a jerk here, I am just honestly befuddled by this post.

It seems Chaos Wars is postponed yet again.

And Namco X Capcom isn't coming... I wouldn't hold even half a breath for this coming over. That said, I'd rather see Ar Tonelico 2 and Mana Khemia 2 in English first!
Otherwise, I hope this one has a good gameplay and story. Neither Chaos Wars nor Namco x Capcom was particularly remarkable in either department.

By they, I mean NIS and Gust. I know NIS is a localizer. So I suppose I should just be ragging on GUST since the company has to give NIS the go ahead for bringing their games over

. Cross Edge looks fascinating and it would suprize me if it made it over(looks too much like Namco X Capcom IMO so I think it wont >_> ).

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clearup.
But, NIS and NISA are actualy two branches of the same company, the latter being the one that brings stuff to North America. The two can (and do) work on completely different things without interefering with each other.
As well, NIS and Gust have little to do with this game other than lending their chracters; like the OP says, Compile Heart is developing it. So don't go firing that sniper rifle just yet! ^^
(Also: Ar Tonelico 2 will get a US date. Just you wait

First Chaos Wars, now this. Sounds like a good idea. Just because I want to see more of Flay, Nike, Vayn, Phyl, etc from Mana Khemia. Although it only mentions Mana Khemia 2 so far, so they might not be in it.

more info and some updated characters..
QUOTE

Rolando found a piece of promotional art (thanks!!) for Compile Heart’s strategy RPG mashup and it reveals a few more faces. The original image was tiny so it’s horribly scrambled when expanded, but you can clearly see Lilith from Darkstalkers will make an appearance in Cross Edge. Lyner, the male protagonist of Ar Tonelico, has a role in the game too. Also from the Gust side I believe Whim, one of the characters from Mana Khemia 2, is right above Roze.
The center of the poster is where things get fuzzy. Characters show their backs instead of their faces. I think this group might be part of the Neverland universe, but this is more of a guess based on the artwork than concrete cape recognition. Let’s take a look at the updated roster of non-original characters in Cross Edge.

The ones from the first scan are from Ar Tonelico - Ayatane and Bourd - I think thats the right spelling anyway.
As for those from the second scan - well I'm still trying to work that one out for myself
EDIT : From what I can gather they're characters specific to Cross Edge - but I could be wrong on that so don't quote me on it.

Some good news for you guys amped up for this game, vis ps3fanboy:

Unfortunately, ensemble titles involving characters from multiple Japanese companies traditionally failed to get released in the US due to licensing issues (think Namco x Capcom and Jump Super Stars). So most of us pretty much thought Cross Edge was going to suffer the same fate; afterall, it features characters from IPs such as Darkstalkers, Disgaea, Ar Tonelico to name a few. Luckily, Siliconera is reporting that "trusted source" has informed them that a company "we know very well" will be releasing the title stateside.
We are crossing our fingers and toes hoping this is true, and it will certainly help quench the thirst of PS3 owners for JPRGs. Check out the known rooster of the game after the jump, again courtesy of Siliconera.Disgaea: Etna, Prinnies

Anyway I read the original post on Siliconera, but I've not had much dealings with them before so don't know how reliable they are. They smooshed a few ports together into a compilation sold at budget price (which kicks ass, side note), but I would hardly call that a "try to revive," any more than the Namco Museums are any attempt to "revive Centipede" or whathaveyou. ^^
