I’m probably not going to bother getting this one (still haven’t “finished” Pearl - by that I mean beat the Elite Four), considering as it’s only really going to just have some extra Pokemon and whatnot. But whatever, for those who are interested:

Diamond/Pearl expansion set for this fall.
By Steve Watts, 05/15/2008

Pokémon collectors are always eager to catch 'em all, and Nintendo has historically been just as eager to add more creatures to catch. This symbiotic, slightly OCD relationship has kept the Pokémon series running strong for years, and there's no reason to assume that it will stop anytime soon.

The next game in the popular series looks to be Pokémon Platinum, which had an official site go up today (via Kotaku). For now, information is sparse, showing only two small teaser screenshots, artwork of a beastly new Pokemon, a release window for fall of 2008. That release is listed on the Japanese site, though, so if the game comes to America we probably won't see it until 2009.

This game isn't an entirely new Pokémon game, though. Instead, it's an expansion to last year's hit Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, meaning we're likely to see almost the exact same game with a few new tweaks. Those who didn't dive into Diamond or Pearl -- or Pokémaniacs who want to play through the game again from the start -- will be pleased.

Argh. Should have caught the possibility of Platinum when I first heard about Giratina.
Too hung up on Girasol in order to be consistent with Dialga (Diamond) and Palkia (Pearl), I guess. tongue.gif

I still wish that they'd make a third game that's substantially different in the beginning of the game (like Yellow and to some extent Crystal), instead of having most of the bonus stuff post-game (Emerald).

Hasn't this Poke'-crap died out yet? I know that these games used to be fun, but nowadays they just seem like the same old ##### packaged in a different color box.

Yet people still buy them.
Vilagen
A third installment to the current generation of pokemon is hardly surprising.

Here's some more info on the game if any care.

Now that we know Pokemon Platinum is on the way, we’re going to need a ton of juicy bonuses if Nintendo expects us to buy another version and catch ‘em all… again. Luckily, the July issue of CoroCoro suggests that Platinum is shaping up to be a worthy entry into the series. New details include:

• Confirmation on Shaymin’s Sky Forme, its Grass/Flying type, its height of 0.4m, and its weight of 5.4kg. Ken Sugimori’s artwork for the new variation is shown.
• Those picking up Movie Regigigas from the 11th movie, Giratina and the Sky’s Bouquet: Shaymin in Japan can transfer it to Platinum and then catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in-game.
• Two new, unknown human characters will be introduced into the game’s story.
• A new area on the map called “Torn World” will be added.
• Lucas and Dawn get new clothes. Barry doesn’t.

You can check out some small photos of the new CoroCoro issue after the break.

Shaymin... what have they done to you?! ohmy.gif

Well, I'll be looking forward into importing this game that is if it doesn't get a United States release date. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl was a great hit as this will certainly be another high seller that is if it gets localizsed here.
Athrun
Well I never finished playing Diamond, so maybe I'll hold off on it and play Platinum instead when it comes.
The flying Shaymin looks pretty different though.

But honestly, going through pretty much the same game for a third time, in the same manner (get TM, cut down blockade, swim to new town, etc) didn't feel very inspiering this time around. They really should give the whole game a complete makeover next time. The battle system, the way you get from town to town, and perhaps make interactions with other characters better. A different battle system might make the game challenging for once. It's hard to do it now in a way that feels well balanced due to how short battles are.
Dragon Brigade
Here's a new video from DS Fanboy that includes more gameplay than previously released videos have.
Mushroom
Freakin excellent. I held off on this round of pokemon titles on purpose so I could ge tthe usual expansion game and come in fresh, so I'm amped for this. Can't wait ^^
Dragon Brigade
Ah, you were one of the smart ones then. I got Pearl a couple months after the release (bought it used, but it didn't come with a booklet. Makes me sad. I thought I'd have gotten one. =(. ), though I haven't played it as much as the others. Just beat the Elite Four about a week ago, actually (only have 50 hours in it, I think).

The next time they release the two new Pokémon games, I'm going to wait until the expansion comes out as well. Why I haven't learned by now is beyond me. I guess I just like comparing the "old" with the "new" or something...
Pesmerga
I stopped caring after Gold. Despite me having Ruby myself, I feel the games never got better than Gold.
Ah well, a friend of mine is a pokemon collector, so he'll get this game without a doubt.
Convict #247
I dunno, Pokemon got boring for me when I gave Ruby a try and realized the new Pokemon look lame and some of the old Pokemon did as well once I took off the nostalgia goggles. They need to spice things up and try something new, like a Dark--->Psychic---> Fighting trio or something.

I saw this new trailer of the game, and it looks like it has some new 3D graphics? At 00:35 to 00:40
I haven't beaten Diamond/Gold so I'm not sure if those wall jumping and 3D camera spinning waterfall rides were in the game.
Anyway the game looks better overall. Nicer colors and more detailed in places. I got about halfway through Diamond but I guess I'll wait for Platinum instead.

Ive put over 100 hours into Diamond and I honestly cant tell you if the 3D wall wall jumping and waterfall riding is in the game. Its sad, eh? I read somewhere that Giratina was originally suppose to be a part of a legendary dragon trio? Odd that they decide to do that now?

Personally, I just wish that there were more nintendo events that are not at a Nintendo store. Toy-R-Us seems to be the only other place that hosts them?

I wont be buying Platinum. cry.gif

Hahaha, I'd totally get this if I didn't already have to finish Diamond.
Swear to god, man; the Elite Four are nothing, but cheaters in this game. @__@

But crazy!!! Lucas and Dawn get new clothes? Sweet!

I can destroy the whole E4 with one pokemon.
Blastoise or Empoleon.
Both do the job nicely.
Especially if they're level 100...
Dragon Brigade
I suppose you could say I cheated when I went against the Elite Four, though it wasn't really my intent to become one of those people who uses all (or mostly) starters.

Blaziken
Charizard
Blastoise
Palkia
Infernape's final evolution (forgot what it's called)
Staraptor.

My sister was breeding Pokémon (leagues ahead of me in the game), so she gave me the eggs for the Blaziken/Charizard/Blastoise/Infernape. Only Blaziken, Palkia, and Staraptor really helped me against the Elite Four though (Blaziken against the first, Palkia against the second, and the three of them together against the final three.). They were in the 50s (Blaziken = 60s), whereas the others were in the 40s sharing Experience Share.

I think I only own about 45 Pokémon (most of those through evolution), so...yeah. I didn't really feel like there were enough trainers to really level up, or enough Pokémon to actually have a somewhat diversified team...I dunno. Maybe that's just me. >.>. But I was really unprepared for the Elite Four this time around. I mean, if I'm raising Pokémon from level 1 (except for Staraptor and Palkia) trying to beat the Elite Four, with them eventually becoming my actual party, that's sending me warning signals. =/. Usually I always have an Alakazam, but due to not evolving my Kadabra til it was level 50 or so...Yeah. Pretty useless, so I'll need to get a new one. >.>.

Oh well. >.<.

Hello! Mango! D: Level 100, cheater! Of course they'll be crazy easy.
I'm still in the low-40s. Pretty lazy when it comes to leveling up and my only problem is really that I don't have a plant Pokemon for the second chick. ]8 So I'm leveling up my Roselia and working on getting Lucario.
Theferrell
Wow, another Pokemon. They basically said "Hey, let's make the same game over and over again with nothing new. We essentially want to make the same game over and over until somebody say, 'oh dear goodness... you think they're gonna make another one?' "

I totally lost interest in this series after I destroyed Red and blue version back in High School. (I bought it the day it came out...)
Dragon Brigade
They do add stuff, they just kept the same formula through everything:

Come from some backwater town; save the professor of said town from wild Pokémon; get a Pokédex + starter Pokémon (always fire/grass/water, and in Yellow you got Pikachu); go to eight gyms and get badges; fight some variation of Team Rocket, etc., etc.

They add new gadgetry and funky things, but the games get a little old after a while. They could, y'know, try and give it a different story (different elemental starters, different character background, etc.) instead of using the same one twenty times. >.o. But I'll still buy them, because no matter how many times I say I won't, I know I'll get it anyway. xD.

Red is still my favorite though, even if it's dated. I have such good memories of the game.~
Nash
Kinda glad that I ended up procrastinating this gen. No Diamond or Pearl for me. Platinum sounds fun, sadly most of the alternate forms require some kind of events or another, which is damn impossible to access.
Athrun
There are several alternate forms? I only know of Shaymin from the scan.
Dragon Brigade
Pretty much in order to get a lot of these extras, you have to download at special events, etc.

QUOTE
For the obsessive Pokémon players who have just gotta catch them all, Pokémon Platinum's calling card is its line-up of five completely new, previously unseen Pokémon, all of which are variations of Rotom. The only one we've found so far is called Cut Rotom and looks like a weird, living lawnmower. Cut Rotom can use the Leaf Storm attack to do some serious damage. Pretty neat.

It's clear that Nintendo is going for Japan's legions of Pokémon fanatic kids here. It's not really enough to just buy Platinum and play the game. For example, there's a new form for Shaymin, the Legendary Pokémon, but it's only accessible to those who first download Shaymin to their Diamond- or Pearl-loaded DS at the cinema while watching the latest Pokémon movie. Only then, having bought Platinum as well and rushed to meet a September 30th deadline, can players receive a Gracidia Flower item that transforms Shaymin, transferred across from Pokémon Diamond or Pearl, into its Sky Form.
