So, I take it not many people aren't playing this game?
Think that's a bit odd considering a lot of people buy Squeenix games for the name, sometimes. =p

I've been personally enjoying the game and that's despite the fact that it costs ten bucks more than the average DS game. The story is pretty decent, the game controls are addictive and unique, and it's got such a wonderful concept in focusing on the ever-changing livelihood in Shibuya. (ie. changing trends and fashions).

The characters are nothing to really go home about rather than their personalities run on the cliche side (Anti-social mian character. EPIC STUFF THERE), but they're entertaining enough.

So, no?

But then again this is Dreamers. =p

Anyhow I've only played a bit of the game and a really little bit, although I find the premise of the game interesting... I just dont like the idea of having real time battles in dual screens. >_>

I've been looking at this game for quite sometime and the review on GT was pretty positive. You said it was more than the average DS game so how much is it $50?!?!@?!? I really need a new DS game and this game has peaked my interest. Is it fun in the sense that you play it an hour when you first get it , love it, and then put down or is it more along the lines of fun where you want to pick up and play it when you have a spare moment?
Nash
I have this, but since I'm pretty much stuck at home for the next few weeks, I prefer TV and consoles.

Maybe I'd give it a proper try once I'm mobile again, or something. wink.gif

Saw art for this a long time ago and I really liked it, but when more info + screens of the game were released, I sort of lost interest. Well, the game itself doesn’t seem like it’d be too bad, but at the moment it’s not on my list of “to-get” games. Maybe I’ll give it a shot down the road, but with all the other games I want to get I somehow doubt I’ll be able to convince myself to get it.

Touche! =p

I found the battle system kind of irritating at first, too. I never knew who to look at, but it's so much easier just to follow the light puck and focus on that character.

It's not $50; it's around $40, but I managed to get my copy for 5 bucks less + 15% off. Courtesy of my brother, 'course, but I still wound up paying around $30-something. x.x
Arrogant much, Squeenix? lol

I picked this up on release day. Haven't had a chance to play much of it, considering I've had a plethora of projects and papers to write (side note: never be a comm studies major unless you're going into media or PR).

However! I finished the first chapter/week-in-game, and I'm digging the story so far. It's not epic or anything, but it's entertaining. I hated the battle system at first, and I died so much during those first few days of playing that I just set the game down for a couple days. But eventually I got the hang of it, and once you get into the groove of things, it becomes much easier to play.

What's really cool is that you can level up even when you don't play. Like, if you don't play for a day, you get 144 pin points (I think that's what they're called), 2nd day has like, half of that, and so on, up until the 7th day. I thought that was a really neat idea.

I like the game, and now that I actually have some free time, I can play/finish it.

WHAT you mean I have missed one of the God's creations!!!

or rather I don't own a DS and doesn't have any thought on buying one

the game look interesting at glance but never checked it out more then that!

The only thing I worry about with that is since some of the pins evolve using different types of PP, it kind of sucks when you stop playing for too long and one of said pins maxes. D: It keeps on happening to me.

Lols battling in this game is so haxcore. All I do is bother with the slashing on the bottom screen and as long as I keep on pressing left/right for the top screen...I ought to get something right here and there.

I have to admit though, there is a little too much involved with the game, and not even in the side-quests type. More like, there's a million little things to have to focus on that doesn't need focusing on. The fashion is a nice perk, but I personally don't care if I'm wearing the worst combination in the worst areas, as long as I kill the monsters. Food is a nice booster for status increases, but as long as you find the right type of food and go back enough to be friends with the clerk, then all you'll ever need is a steady supply of those.

I do hate Beat's part of the game. dry.gif His card-based fighting system makes it so hard to just button mash. I actually need to pay attention here and there in order to not get ##### over by that "don't let it hit the skulls!" thing. But yeah. Grrr.

I haven't picked the game up in a while since I got sidetracked by Jump Ultimate Stars!, but I'm thinking about getting back into it just so I can beat the game. Or....I'm assuming I'm close to beating the game anyways. (I have 3 days left?)

Hahah, I've started getting used to following both screens for the most part, but I do find myself doing the exact same thing, sometimes. Especially when you're trying to get used to some new pins you put on Neku. ]:

The game does have a lot going on and it kind of is overwhelming when you first start playing because you have to deal with all these new mechanics to follow. Their cool once you have the hang of them, but I ignored a bunch of the things like what's the best foods, brands, and what not in favour of other things.
I just hate it when you are friends with the shop keeper and they won't give you the extra abilities in some of the clothes. And then finding out it's because I don't have the necessary partner. XD

Agreed on Beat. He's strong, but his fighting style is just irritating. I found that Joshua had the most fluid of all of them. And I hate math, lol.

I'm getting close to beating it, too. I lagged a lot on Week 2, but now I'm determined to finish.
Killerc
Very awesome game. To tell the truth, it was easier controlling Neku more than the partners.
Apirant
I heard of the game from my friends and they say it's their favorite game ever. "So Zetta slow," is an awesome quote.

Edit: Oh, wait, I thought this was a forum for another game with...well, a very similar premise to what the name says.

About this game, The World Ends with You, I just have not been intereseted enough in it to pay $40 for it. It looks decent, but nothing that I want to pay that much money for. Perhaps when it comes down to $20 or so, I'll think about buying it.
Alazuli
I found the game to be worth the $40 tag price, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to wait for it to go cheaper. That or pick up a used copy. It was surprisingly great when you compare it to the same teams previous Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Everything played very well and the story was entertaining.

I just beat it, last week, and am now working on Another Day. That chapter is awesome. It cracks me up.

Ahahaha, Minamimoto. I think that line has nothing on "F this Ramen. F for Fabulous!" 8D
maxxumas
personally, this is my all time favorite DS game, period. I just fell in love with just about everything in the game. Granted, as some folks ahve said, the characters aren't anything special and all rather cliche. I was actually quite shocked that half the girls in the game weren't raped wearing the crap they were wearing.

As for the story, it starts off kinda light but it gets really deep as far as personal growth and what not goes. But most of that doesn't come about till you beat the game and get the Secret Reports that explain some behind the sceens stuff.

I absolutly adored the battle system from the moment' I picked it up. Didn't start dieing till I started to see Pink Elephants...thought I was drunk first time I did. Anyway, I kinda follow what someone else said, I don't really pay full attention to my partner but I do glimps up every now and then to make sure they're attacking in the right direction. Speeds up battles super well. Event hough I've beaten the game, I'm probably not gonna stop till I collect everything in it, I'm just that hooked.

The music is another huge draw for me. I just leave my DS on sometimes just to listen to a few of the songs. Sad I know...

I like the story for what it is, an explination of a persons need to cooperate and belong. Its actually a great detailing of how people should live in real life if you stop and think about it.

Personally, I'd highly recommend this game to anyone that ddn't like traditional turn based rpgs or even if they did, I'd still suggest it.

course...if Beat makes one more corny ass 'wanna be gangster/skaterboy' comment, I'm cutting the game off...

I just got this game the other day out of the desire to play an adventure-ish game and this being the most highly acclaimed game in a while, I decided to pick it up. At first I really didn't think I wanted to, due to my lack of interest in Japanese culture and having even less interest in fashion, and I'm really surprised that I enjoy it as much as I do.

Granted, I haven't REALLY played it too much outside of work (where just yesterday I spent almost the whole day playing it on and off) the story is pretty fun and combat, after getting used to it, is actually more fun than I thought it would be. At first Neku really annoyed me as it felt like they were forcing the idea that Neku doesn't trust people onto the player, but it feels like as the story goes on (just finished the first week), Neku becomes more and more of an observer and the times that he does talk he isn't that annoying anymore.

Overall, I wouldn't call this game amazing, but its a quality title that, so far, has been worth the $40 I payed for it. It is quite good and I recommend it.
