After first appearing in February 2007, a full five months before the games release, the rumor that Bioshock would be coming to PS3 has been debunked and revived more times than we can count (and we can count quite high!). Now, however, the time for rumors is over as the cover of UK mag PSM3 has not only confirmed that the title will be made available for the PS3, but that it will be a somehow superior version of the game. We won't find out in what way until the magazine arrives on news stands on June 5th.

While it may be a few weeks before we get any details on what makes the PS3 version different, it's nice to finally get some closure regarding this confusing "will it, won't it" rumor. However, the game has been out for over six months now, so we're hoping for some significant changes in order to make the port worthwhile. Let's be honest here, most gamers have played this on the 360 and those who didn't have played it on the PC. Right?

It's a great game. Somewhat of a hybrid RPG FPS with an excellent story. No Multiplayer, but it would probably be crap if there was (there would be some serious balance issues).
The Evil Dead
Yeah the game functioned fine on its own and offers lengthy enough and involving enough play to make you kinda forget about the MP ( Which is a hard thing to get me to do as that's the main reason I play FPS titles ).

Glad it's coming out for the PS3 after all. It won't run on my current desktop and I sold my copy along with my 360. Will buy again.

I actually just bought and played through this game, in fact I beat it yesterday. Great story, but I think the gameplay is overrated. Underneath the beautiful aesthetics of Rapture, it really plays like a regular shooter.

Despite that, I guess it is good news for PS3 owners. A year* seems like a long time to finally do a port though (on a console anyway). Anyone that wanted to have played this game probably did already. Perhaps Microsoft had a really long patent on it or something, which was a good thing to do with this sort of game. I can't help but think of it as a 'too little, too late" kind of deal.

*Edit: Actually, I guess it is more like 8 or 9 months, but still took awhile.

i think it depends on what they add to "make the game better on ps3" as they state. I think if they can add in some cool extras it might be worth it and not everyone has played it. I myself have only played the game mabye 5 minutes so this is very good news for me. (my PC wont run it and no 360)
The Evil Dead
Yeah who knows. It may be a direct port, or we may get some extra content.

Also I'm sure Microsoft had dibs on it for awhile.

I suppose you could say it is a fairly standard FPS as well, it just throws in a few quirks that sets it apart from most generic FPS titles. Being a long time FPS player as well I liked it quite a bit, in fact as I stated before I was able to get past the fact that there was no multiplayer ( Which is an FPS title's biggest selling point in my book ).

Have the tables turned? Well, not quite -- but the former 360-exclusive BioShock is coming to PS3 in a huge way. Not only will it support Home and Trophies, the upcoming PS3 version of BioShock will also add "exclusive" DLC unseen on the Xbox 360 and PC. The extra content will take place outside of the game's narrative, so don't expect any canonical expansions.

According to Joystiq, the BioShock DLC will take place in puzzle-styled levels designed to look like Rapture. For example, one scenario described features a Little Sister stuck atop a Ferris wheel. Hitting the control box with the shotgun's electric buck caused the wheel to move a little. Then, players would have to find an electric crossbow inside a booby-trapped room. Every electric item found would help the player get that much closer to saving the Little Sister.

These kind of scenarios really focus on the various powers players can use in the game. While we'd have loved to see an expansion to the story, this new content should allure fans of the game -- it's like the new "VR Missions" of BioShock. A date and price for this PS3 DLC hasn't been revealed yet.

Seems a little bit like a BioShock version of Portal, which would be really awesome if done right. Seeing as how I'm starting to "phase out" my 360 as much as I can (still following Mass Effect series) I may end up trading my 360 copy of this game in to get the PS3 version. We'll see what else they add though.
