Some good news for the Americans as Dragon Quest IV, V and VI are being remade. Bad news for me as there is nothing down for Europe yet, and after playing Dragon Quest VIII and Joker I would like to play some of the older versions. One can hope though.

US, May 21, 2008 - Today Square Enix confirmed that the Zenithia trilogy, Dragon Quests IV, V, and VI remade for the Nintendo DS, will be making its way from Japan to North America. Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen will kick off the party on September 16. The publisher also revealed the subtitles for parts V and VI: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, and Realms of Reverie, respectively.

For each game, the original 2D graphics have been remade in 3D and monsters have been given new animations.

Good news for the DS.

I've always liked Final Fantasy more than Dragon Quest.... I tried to play Dragon Quest 3 back on my old Apple2GS (may it rest in peace) and it was HARD AS CRAP!!!!!!!! I don't know if I would get in on this one....

I had been hoping these would make it to the US since Bomb posted a topic back in ’07 about these being remade. Really good to hear that they actually will come to North America. =).

I looked through the screenshots of DQ IV and it looks alright and makes good use of the dual screens and it looks to be a fun game. Supposedly the DS is region free so I will be able to port the US versions.
The Evil Dead
Man now I'm jealous again. Just to be sure... DQ4 = DW4... Right? Definitely one of my favorite RPG's of all time.
Dragon Brigade
Yeah, it was originally titled Dragon Warrior IV.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (ドラゴンクエストIV 導かれし者たち Doragon Kuesuto Fō Michibikareshi Monotachi?, lit. "Dragon Quest IV: The Guided Ones"), known as Dragon Quest: Chapters of the Chosen in Europe and originally published as Dragon Warrior IV in the NES version, is a console role-playing game and the fourth installment of the Dragon Quest video game series developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix (now Square Enix).

Source was Wikipedia, just because it was faster. Maybe you didn’t really need a source either, but I thought that considering it’s me, I figured it would help if I had something to back up my claim, haha...
The Evil Dead
lol... Nah a simple yes would have been fine. Thanks for sauce, though. tongue.gif

Damn I'd forgotten about these - looks like this has to be added to the wish list, enjoyed DQVIII - nothing spectacular but a solid enough game - and my handhelds have been going through a bit of a dry spell so it will definitely make a welcome addition.

It looks like we are getting hold of DQIV sometime in September - so only a month behind the states which is pretty damn good. But even if we weren't to get a release its so easy to import DS titles that it makes little difference.

It seems the three form some kind of subseries trilogy of some sort.

I still have DQ8 waiting to be completed though. Grinding for that one mid-boss almost made me lost all desire to continue playing. Toriyama's consistently similar designs didn't help either.

Looking forward to these games, and DQ9 too. wink.gif

I loved DQ VIII and I'll definitely be looking forward to grabbing these. This combined with FFIV definitely makes the DS RPG line up all that more appealing.

Here's some updated info for DQV, if anybody cares.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride won't just be a straight remake of either the Super Famicom or PlayStation 2 versions of DQV. New characters, both original and pulled from other Dragon Quests, and new features are being put in. The Jailcat enemy from Dragon Quest VIII has been revealed to appear in the new game, and there's a new item shop feature, but Square Enix has something even more significant planned: a new character named Deborah.

DQV follows the hero character over 20 years of his life, even including the option to marry one of two women. It seems likely that the newly-announced Deborah will be a third potential wife. You can see the full Jump scan at Jeux-France.
