I know this franchise is old as hell, but I saw 'Bride of Chucky' on TV last night, and it was pretty funny, so I decided to rent the earlier installments for a chuckle. I just wanted to see if there was any actual 'horror' mixed in with all the ##### camp.
I don't know how the hell these movies scare grown adults -- I mean, I know grown men and women that are freaked out by the whole killer doll thing. Maybe it's a childhood trauma, because I know that the last thing a little kid would wanna see is their toys coming alive and stabbing them up.
Chucky is kinda maniacal-looking, but the crappy special effects are funnier than #####. You can tell that the ##### doll is being held up by strings, or that there's a midget in a ##### doll suit running around. I got my two cents worth of laughs from the effects and the dialogue, but the movies didn't ##### scare me at all.
I'll give these ones credit for the hillarious one-liners. These were two of my favorites:
'Don't ##### with The Chuck'
'Well, you've heard of dolls that pee, right? Well, this one BLEEDS.'

In this day and age we have matured to horrors a bit more than people back in the 1980s and 1990s(when the Childs Play movies were released) and horrors such as that and the exorcist were deemed very scary, but now they seem funny to us.

the first child's play still freaks me out, cant help it. The other 10 of them or however many they made sucked.

There is five of them including Child's play 1, 2 and 3, Bride of Chucky and the horrible Seed of Chucky. They are actually a very enjoyable collection to watch bar Seed of Chucky which is just plain rubbish, and Chucky is an awesome character.

The first one is enjoyable but the second and third are very forgettable... Also Bride of Chucky is solid ( Because Ronny Yu directs, of course ) but Seed was a joke and not in a good way.
I don't own any of the series and as much as I love campy horror, I don't think I ever will. I do love Brad Dourif or however you spell his name as the voice of Chucky though. He's perfect.

Dourif is an underrated actor. His performance as The Gemini in 'Exorcist 3' was twisted. He really has that crazy-psycho role down-pat.
